Celtic should accept Wilson ban offer

1201

Celtic should accept the offer of a two match ban for Kelvin Wilson following an incident at Dens Park on Boxing Day.  He has never been an aggressive player, so there is no need to assume intent, but an elbow to the face is a painful experience and potentially dangerous.  These are the rules and they are there for good reason.

Good stuff, hope you have a good festive season and new year.

But winning the derby against the Mighty queens Park at the weekende might be a big ask…

  2. I find all of this latest violence and dens park and capitulating to the SFA very very interesting.

On the one hand its a good thing that Celtic are seen to react to unfolding events and bad incidents and seek to deal with it. On the other 5 arrests (4 Celtic supporters I believe) hardly constitutes a crisis and certainly doesnt warrant headlines. Its clear there was poor behaviour at Dens and that should be criticised.

However this, and the open capitulation on Wilson is interesting because it shows, in my opinion, a distaste and distrust of the support from our Board. They want our money but we must obey them to the letter. This is, albiet on a small scale, similar to Celtic’s unwillingness to deal with harrassment of supporters and the disgraceful BBC report on our so called sectarian singing at the cup final.

Celtic’s silence on those matters is deafening.

Also – having taken on the SFA on Dougiegate – Celtic now capitulate to them at every turn. When you listen to Green’s comments going unchallenged by the SFA.

I’m listening to the radio just now and honestly – some people would want to see those who are drunk and behave stupidly crucified.

Anyway my view is that Celtic treat their support contemptuously and cant wait to through us under the bus as long as we pay them first.

This cannot continue and its Celtic that will suffer.

  3. Dontbrattbakkinanger,on the last article you mentioned Golden Earing and lynyrd Skynyrd,

about forty years ago in London i went to see Golden Earing and the support act was Lynyrd,

  5. Good evening GourockEmeraldBhoy.

Celtic’s hierarchy may not have done the popular thing but they did the right thing. We are run by proper figures. Thankfully. Blaming them for some drunken behaviour is wrong. Does anybody really believe that our most prominent figures wanted to condemn us?

Let Chuckles keep speaking I say. His ego and big mouth are going to ensure plenty of laughs in the future. Oh and trouble!

As for the media… I boycotted the Daily Record because of their treatment of Fergus and our club. Don’t listen to Radio Clyde either. Life is calmer that way. So I do not know how they reported a third division game which I know little about.

  6. taggart nobody move on

Wilson (perpretaor) says accidental Baird (victim) says accidental Brines (neutral) no decision Lunny (compliance officer) all wrong except me! What is going on?

  7. Of course the fixtures were arranged before the season started.

We were always going to Dens Park ( or Ibrox) over the Christmas holiday.

To send Celtic there for an evening kick-off after a 3 day holiday was CALCULATED to cause as much disorder as was possible.

NO rational body would have taken such a decision without knowing the potential problems.

These people are NOT as thick as we would like to pretend.

    It WAS a set-up.

  8. I agree with the post made earlier by RobertTressel. Whether it was excessive force or not is debatable but elbow did connect with face.

You have quickly forgot the precision relevance stance you were taking from earlier on. It was Xmas. It was a bank holiday. It has historical precedent that induced legislation that the polis did not follow.

    Good evening GourockEmeraldBhoy.

Where you at the game or did you get your information from elsewhere as to the exploits at Dundee. Do you think it’s the worst violence in over 20 years at Dundee.

Apologies for all the questions, I am genuinely interested in why are own fans are being put under the cosh for a game scheduled at the wrong time in my opinion on a public holiday, and seem perturbed at the level of coverage and condemnation.

The setup was letting the drunkards into the ground thereby aiding and abetting and Yup by the polis …who later arrested fans for singing. This is the crime here ..openly admitted to by the head of Dundee security.

  13. The commentary that stated unequivocally that Kelivn Wilson deliberately elbowed Baird in the face is based on grainy images that are far from clear let alone conclusive.

The commentators of course are far from objective and if I wanted to take a similarly subjective view of events I could say with equal certainty that Baird feigned injury.

I would back up my long distance view of the incident by the fact that Baird admitted that he fouled Wilson who in turn shook his arm free.

Furthermore Baird was not bleeding or unconscious and received no medical treatment such as stitches, which one might expect to have been the case if a six foot three, 14-stone, player had smashed his elbow into a poor wee (five foot seven) chap’s fisog.

This incident reminds me of the Hugh Dallas injury when he went down as if felled by an Exocet missile. At least Hugh had some blood to allow his Oscar-winning performance.

Now no one likes to see blood spilled. I was horrified to see Paul Lambert’s teeth flying out when George Albertz’s knee collided with him, but when referees and commentators justify that type of premeditated assault as part of the game, and then come over all concerned with Baird when no harm is done, I get pissed off.

Contest it Celtic. Make the SFA prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.

  14. Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo:

“You will know that I rag doll on here all day long.”. Sorry but my day is not governed by looking for you on this site. I seldom look at the poster names or post myself.

So do you also believe a portion of our support was set up? Our poor souls were set up by a heartless society which scorns the hapless Celtic community. Evil figures plotted to ply the vulnerable Celts with alcohol. Well, it all went to plan.

    Not likely.

I was talking to the barmaid who told me that her cooker burst into fire at Xmas. I said in the old days you could use the coal fireplace like we did during the elecrtic power strikes of the 70’s.

She said that must have been hard and I said not after a week when we remembered that the cooker uses gas…………..

If guid folk hand over their SB money – all in good faith – only to find that – once the bored have yer money – YOU don’t matter any more.

Now, if this treatment – continues season after season – and it does – then, it’s at THAT point that the guid folk have to realize that – YOUR being taken for mugs !

If the guid folk still don’t realize that – after that point has been reached – then, apathy and half-empty stadiums will become the norm. Sadly.

Your point is valid. The lack of scrutiny at the turnstiles was deliberate.

However, had that game been scheduled for a lunchtime or early afternoon kick-off, it would have passed off without incident.

    Why was it NOT ?
