CELTIC TO SEAL 18-MONTH LOAN DEAL FOR CHARLY MUSONDA

CELTIC are closing in on an 18-month loan deal for Chelsea’s Belgian playmaker Charly Musonda.

Brendan Rodgers aims to have the 21-year-old attacking midfielder at Parkhead early next week, despite late competition from Spanish outfit Leganes.

Musonda made a rare first-team appearance for the Stamford Bridge team in last weekend’s 4-0 victory over Brighton, coming off the substitutes’ bench with nine minutes remaining to lay on the fourth goal.

However, he was left out of Antonio Conte’s squad for the Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Arsenal in midweek and the London side are willing to let the gifted player head north on a temporary deal after tomorrow‘s FA Cup-tie against Newcastle.

Musonda was on Rodgers’ radar in the summer before he switched his interest to Manchester City’s French Under-21 international midfielder Olivier Ntcham to seal a permanent £4.5million deal.

The Belgian would be the Hoops’ third arrival in this transfer window following German £1million German central Marvin Compper, from RB Liepzig, and winger Lewis Morgan, who was loaned back to St Mirren for the remainder of their promotion-chasing campaign.
