I can’t see who Johnny Hayes would put out of our team??

Nothing against the Bhoy but I don’t see why we would sign a squad filler.

Of course my opinion will change tomorrow if Mr Rodgers says Johnny is a player we think can do well at Celtic!!

    Fickle CSC

  2. Re. Jonny Hayes. We will need two wide players this summer to replace Paddy and GMS. Forrest and Sinclair will need competition/back up. I’d hope one of them is a first pick, improve us for CL player whilst the other will be a squad player. Perhaps Hayes, who BR has worked with before will be the latter.

With a bit of luck Paddy will be the CL signing but doubt he’ll stay.

Am not privy to the costs, and probably these days the sports scientists would have to vet the boot never mind the colour :-)

Catching up with the aftermatch, how blinking good is it too see ghuys like Svitchencko, Bitton, and wee Jamesy F going daft, a great touch BR walking over and having a wee word in Izzys ear, then Izzy giving him a massive hug, when KT appeared they all were hugging him, but if KT’s burd is reading and Paddy’s burd……. You better watch out, that Bromance has many years to go :-)

    Celtic, open to all :-)

Dons in for Christie permanent deal £500,000 (Celtic get big sell-on clause), not dependent on Hayes deal. Maloney/AFC talks continue too.

  5. Spent last few hours watching the cup final.

Emotions from going to the match set aside.

    My observations.

Stockley knew what he was doing. Deliberate and violent.

McGregor , a few positional loss of the ball, but watch the time he lost it, matched the attacker run, then blocked him. Excellent game.

Craig Gordon, his busiest domestic game. Great saves . no mistakes.

Knackered team, but, but, but, ran and ran and ran.

Sinclair, player of the year. Maybe running on empty. No preseason. Anyone else misses those sitters, several games now, they would be escaped goats.

    Tell you what,

    We are invincible

I knew very little of Sean Fallon, heard his name and knew it was spelt the same as my big brother, that programme to me was an eye opener, for somebody who is going on 47, I thought I knew everything about Celtic, in the last 7-10 days on here and on the TVs, I have probably learnt more, although Dallas from this parish has educated me about Sean but the documentary was amazing

By the way in the last 7-10 days, I have realised I knew hee-haw about Celtic, but thankfully always willing to learn :-)

If you watch the Rogic goal again, Griffiths is in line with Tom when he picks up the ball, as Tom drives forward Leigh just chucks it, you would expect him to be bursting a gut to get into the box. Can only assume Leigh was knackered.

  9. TTR – Tom is the Real World Class Celt.

    He can do things that………

    Good Evening,

I am typing this in a pleasantly balmy Bishopbriggs after 5 unforgettable days.

I have read back and I am greatly flattered and heartened by the many nice comments thanking me for my efforts in helping to make those days the long and memorable party that it was.

However, although such comments are truly greatly appreciated, neither thanks nor praise is necessary.

When the Celtic support travelled to Lisbon in 1967 it was like a great green and white genie being allowed out the bottle and, of course, once the genie is out of the bottle it never goes back in.

That genie brings with it a spirit full of joy, happiness and goodness and it was in 1967 that such a spirit was first unleashed on continental Europe.

What we tried to do this week was recreate the spirit of ’67 — the spirit, hope and love of those fans who travelled 50 years ago and many of whom returned 50 years later.

Many people travelled in memory of their friends and close relatives with a view to paying homage to not only a football team but also a football support which is like no other in its spirit and desire for communal camaraderie and good works.

I think we succeeded in our task.

I think we did the name of Celtic Football Club proud and I think we advanced that spirit of ’67 to a significant degree with our singing and smiling in a city which will forever be partly owned by Celtic and its fans.

Whilst I may have organised any number of things, all of that organisation and preparation would have served no purpose were it not for the fact that my fellow fans brought that spirit by the bucket as I knew that they would.

Special mention has to go to Mick Ward, Joe O’Sullivan and Scoogz for their music and assistance in making both the dinner and the party in Pink Street such outstanding nights.

Mouldy, Vinnie and the cycling team are true superstars and their achievement in cycling to Lisbon for charity is the stuff of fairy tale.

Our own Friesdorfer helped me greatly by producing the event programmes and the name badges which some have told me they will wear with pride for the rest of their days.

Nor should it be forgotten that when it was decided that we were going to Lisbon and that there was some organising to do, Whitedoghunch helped me out by making a couple of suggestions that proved invaluable.

As I said in a previous post, Connaire 12’s sermon at the Basilica dos Martires was one of the most eloquent and moving pieces of oratory I have ever heard and, like many others in the church, my tears ran freely making it virtually impossible to read my own bidding prayers at first.

However, the true spirit of ’67 and of this blog shone like a beacon when Lionsroar67 was taken to hospital with heart problems.

For those who were not there, and indeed for those who were, I want to make a number of things really quite clear.

Billy was taken to hospital in the middle of the night by An Teraman who was rooming with him. The big man stayed at that hospital for hours waiting for news as to how Billy was and would report back to me as and when news was available. Thankfully, the news was good and between Billy and Dan (of course, it would be a Billy and a Dan wouldn’t it?) they managed to get info to me which allowed me to make some necessary arrangements through the British Embassy in Lisbon and the Department of Health back in the UK.

Once word was out that Billy had become unwell, a succession of CQN’ers made sure that he had a regular flow of visitors and did everything they could to make sure that he was neither alone nor forgotten about in the hospital.

It was great to have him back with us to watch the cup final.

The Camaraderie, open friendship, respect and yes love shown by the people from this blog towards one another was something, which to me at least, was evident in abundance over the last few days and in truth that is the real highlight of Lisbon 2017.

There are far too many people to name individually but the sheer decency and goodness, as well as the completely mental nuttiness and fun, of many of the people who post on here regularly is honestly something to behold, and I mentioned to the CelticRollercoaster that the only real regret I have of the week is that Paul67 (and others but Paul in particular) doesn’t get to see that in the flesh nearly often enough.

At first glance, one might be forgiven for thinking that this is a two-dimensional forum where keyboard warriors and protagonists come to cheer, vent their spleen and communicate remotely in between adverts.

Such a view of Celtic Quick News is far from the whole picture, as, in my opinion, it is a community of people who, when they do get together, have a genuine and deep-rooted fondness for one another and the personal traits and character of each poster. The charitable element and ethos is unmeasurable.

When I eventually sat down in Pink Street for a meal at around 9:30 pm on the evening of the 25th of May I found myself in the company of many people from CQN who were all seated together.

Later the group became even bigger and there were many conversations full of fun, laughter and just the sheer enjoyment of being a Celtic fan and finding ourselves in a foreign city and in one another’s company.

There are those who revel in madness and fun and all who were touched by the mass and the stadium visit but what is clear is that these last few days have brought many of us closer together over many a glass and peels of laughter.

In short, it was a privilege and an honour to be part of such a group and it was no hardship at all to help organise some events for such good people from this blog and beyond. At the dinner, at the stadium and on Pink Street I took the time to simply look at all the smiling faces who were clearly having a good time and those moments are more than enough reward for the time and effort involved,

Earlier on this evening, I received a text from Lionsroar saying that he was comfortable in the hotel that will be his home for the next few days and that message is the most important thing to come out of Lisbon.

To all those I met can I just say thank you for your company, and to all those I barely got the chance to speak to then I am only sorry we didn’t have more time ……….. but there is always the next time and as the late El Diego Bhoy would have been the first to say upon reading those last few words:

The next time is the best time we all know.(Copywrite Mr B Ferry)

Hail Hail, God Bless and take care.

Good to see John Kennedy get a mention.

I often posted last season that it was not the defenses fault but a poor playing system that exposed them.

Maldini and Baresi would have looked in that system.

There was a huge area of space in front of them forcing one of the central defenders to step out of position to cover.

Kennedy and the defense got the blame for zero midfield protection and a poorly implemented system

  12. fan-a-tic,

JK was an incredible player. It was tragic his career was cut short.

Just catching up with the aftermatch stuff, I love Broony but young KT is a total wee star as well,as an invincible

Good night and God bless fellow Celtic fans, lurking Huns, unlucky you cou,d have been Tims although you would need to ditch your hatred

“This is how it feels to be Celtic”

  16. Apropos of nothing (thoroughly enjoying tales of Lisbon trip BTW) just watched fantastic documentary on BBC4 called Jago : man of the sea. About 80 year Polynesian old guy . Sorry to take anyone off topic ☘️☘️

  17. Taken from rectum RAG this morn

Celtic target Jonny Hayes as Brendan Rodgers looks to re-unite with Aberdeen star .

    No surprise…if remotely true ?

  18. Interesting afternoon, early evening watching Atlanta United vs. New York Citeh 3-1 to Atlanta a brand new franchise against the financially doped New Yorkers. Dressed in the Hoops.

Good crack in the pubs afterwards.

Anyhoo time for bed here, god bless all in Timdom.

  19. I meant to add…Some years ago I worked with and became friends with Alfie Conn.

Alfie would always say to everyone ( including me)….” Once a Ranger…always a Ranger”.

    Whenever I heard him say this, I would say…” Aye Alfie…Once a Hun….always a Hun”.

Some Huns claim that WE are a ” New Club”, due to becoming a PLC due to Fergus McCann….Do some on here think that those Huns say…” You’re no longer a TIM….cos you’re a new club” ?…They STILL call us TIMS……and other names.

    Feckin get real FFS.

Firstly, I’d like to thank yourself and all involved with the organisation for the Lisbon

    adventure.

I’ve not had such a grand time since Seville.

We would walk by one of the many squares over there and here a shout of “Hail Hail” share the company for a wee while and move on a bit and get the same shout.

I met a few from the blog I hadn’t met before…they know who they are… with their wife’s, sons and daughters.

I tried to explain to my good lady from Wales…there is no support like us.

She said, your just a big family together, all good friends when you meet even if it’s for the first time.

Anyways, thanks to all of you bhoys/ghirls for making it so special. Hail Hail
