  1. Funny enough I have always loved Blackpool for holidays, although I do accept it’s not everyones cup of tea ?

I have been there on and off for over 50 years on hoilday, and in fact my last time there was my 2nd honeymoon with Wife No.2 in 1999.

No doubt some Hun will attempt to give credit to Barry FergusHUN for Blackpools success yesterday ???

Is Stockley the new ” McCulloch” ?

In both deliberate assaults on young KT, Stockley has NOT went over and asked KT if he was all right ? If Stockley was being truthful, and it’s was “Accidental”….why then not go to KT etc, and apologise etc ?

If I injured any opponent in playing days, and it was accidental…the 1st thing to do is tell your opponent “Sorry” etc….and you try and make sure the Ref sees you doing that….Stockley by his very own “INACTIONS”…is Guilty as Charged….TWICE !

Young KT’s reaction to the Celtic support when lifting the Scottish Cup was/is priceless…not only should this image be on Celtic T – Shirts ( and who wouldn’t buy one of those ?)…but it should be emblazoned onto the walls of Celtic Park with the words above……” THIS IS HOW IT FEELS TO BE CELTIC”…and below the image….” CELTIC WARRIOR” ?

  2. As this is a Bank Holiday today…I suspect many Celtic Bhoys and Ghirls will be keeping the Celtic Party in full flow…with Celtic Pubs being very busy…for a Monday ?

There maybe one or two sickie phone calls tomorrow morning to numerous places of work ?

The Tolbooth at Glasgow Cross always has live music on a Monday afternoon anyway.

    and why not ?

    Re SA contract

I believe he is doing a legal(?) course at Glasgow Uni.

I suspect he wouldn’t want any disruption.

So how accurate is my info?

If it is correct, how long does he have to go?

Would he wind down his contract if he’s due to graduate in 2018?

If his course is longer does he prefer to extend for a shorter time than we would like?

Like 2 years instead of 4?

Has he been tapped by someone?

Is he holding out for more moldy ole dough?

I wouldn’t like to be playing hardball with Peter?

I’d probably end up thanking him for the reduction in my wages.

  4. Taken from HUN Site,

This Hun Chump and many others obviously like to IGNORE what Brendan says..” I was BORN INTO CELTIC”, they are feckin desperate for Brendan to leave Celtic ( Sunderland etc) asap, and yet at the same time they like to say that Brendan is hopeless and that any manger could win The Treble…They don’t do HYPOCRISY do they ?

The MOST fecked up delusional mob I have EVER came across in my life.

Default Re: Watching the Scottish cup final today, have we really so much ground to make up

I don’t think Rogers is anything special but he’s a decent manager and I’ll be amazed if he isn’t offered something down south right now. Something like Sunderland who have just been given nigh on 100 million parachute money , could come and take him on megabucks and Ive no doubts he would go.

Yes Celtic are miles ahead of us on the pitch but I firmly believe that balance can be quickly tilted and made more even .

It’s off the pitch I worry more , the stranglehold they seem to have on media, council, SFA, PR and the refusal of our board to meet these off the field challenges in any way.

I really believe Celtic won’t get 9 in a row never mind 10.

  5. I take it that many usually on here are having a lie in ?

I suspect a few wee hangovers ?……The hair of the Dog is the best cure, after 2/3 pints you are half cut again…but the hangovers gone…and yer ready to Celtic Party all over again….been there and done it more times than I care to remember.

if only Carlsberg did hangover cures..?

  6. I didn’t know that we at Celtic had ” A Stranglehold over the media, SFA, Council, PR Dept” ???????

    What a HUN CHUMP !

Their MISERY and PARANOIA….Is my JOY every feckin day.

Keep them coming big Jimmy. The deluded zombies misery is pure comedy gold. I hate myself for loving it so much but if they keep on being the peepul. Have many brilliant memories of holidays in Blackpool, got a Laurie print last time when I took my kiwi girls, with my extended family. Great place matches any holiday I have been on and I like to travel. My old man used to drop me and my brother in new Bloomfield , with coke, crisis and pies while he had a few sneaky pints in the club house. Happy to see them win shame they have Hun tainting. Push the boat out Celtic for Paddy Roberts. No more selling, can’t wait for the CL. Things can only get better.

    Morning all.

Hey Big Jimmy, you are in fine form this morning. Hail Hail.

K.T. and Stockley. No doubt in my mind he meant it, anyone who has played knows, K.T knew Stockley meant it too.

That’s why I was so disappointed in Alan Stubbs. Steven Thomson called out Stockley but Stubbs totally sit on the fence, skelfs on his bahookie.

He said if you’re a Celtic fan it’s,a red if you’re an Aberdeen fan it’s accidental. Alan, what was your opinion!!!!!

Johnny Hayes, good SPFL, better than GMS because hopefully that’s who he is replacing.

    Hail Hail

Stockley clear straight arm assault. Red and gbh if it was on sauchihall street. KT won’t forget it neither will his team mates. Sheep acting like Huns.

  11. If it was accidental then stocksley would have shown some concern – but he couldn’t leave the scene fast enough. While the 4th official was talking to Brendan the linesman had a clear view.

    Nothing to see here Timmy

  13. I fully understand any Celtic fan wondering is Johnny Hayes better than we already have, but let’s not ignore the possibility that should Brendan buys Hayes….who’s to say that Brendan and the rest of the current Coaching staff at Celtic wouldn’t make Johnny Hayes an even BETTER PLAYER ?

I’ve no idea what he would cost, nor what kind of wages he would be offered….but IF Brendan decides ( if he hasn’t already ) to go for Hayes, then who am I to argue ?

In Brendan we FULLY Trust !

  16. Good morning CQN, good waken up in my own bed. Got home from Lisbon yesterday about 3:30pm. I left Lisbon city at 1pm on the Saturday to catch my flight home via Heathrow. The final was being played as we on the plane, we(fellow tims on the plane) knew it was 1-1 At H/T, but that wars it. No internet no news, but one the guys asked the stewardess to ask the captain I he could find out the outcome of the game. She told us to wait until we were in uk air space, so at 6:30 the captain announced that Celtic had won the cup and this was followed by a loud cheer. Time to have a wee treble when I get thru to terminal 5 to catch the 9:30 to Glasgow. But as you may well know nothing was leaving Heathrow from British airways. Spoke an adviser who said “just make your own way home and BA will compensate you if you keep the receipts. It’s a holiday weekend, there are 3 major games at Wembley plus the usual tourist! No rooms available in London. Running low on the phone charge I tried to get a recharge point within the airport to no avail, all being used by other travellers desperate to get home. 6% left phoned the good lady to explain the situation and could she surf the net for trains, planes even buses heading to Glasgow tonight or first thing tomorrow. Nothing all transport north fully booked that evening, but managed to get a virgin train out of Kings cross at 9am in the morning to Edinburgh, but she could reserve a seat on it which is unusual but it will have to do. Luckily I know someone who kindly offers my her sofa for the evening, it’s in Aldgate 2hrs tube journey away, as I have no choice I gratefully accepted this offer.

Next morning gets to Kings cross station collect tickets £140.00 a pop, but who cares BA will pay it back soon (I hope) the station is packed out all eateries busy, bugger it I eat on the train at BA expense. Oh how wrong could I be, everyone on the concourse were waiting for the same train. Pandemonium ensued people fighting over reserved seats foreign tourists with all their baggage that should be in a airplane hold some with 2 huge cases each trying to find space for them. So like many others I stood all the way to Edinburgh with no food, it was available but you couldn’t move to get it, thank that God I had water with me, you couldn’t even get to the toilets as I would have been so much hassle. Shocking conditions all of because BA decision to relocate its IT base to india to cut costs, well the compensation outlay it going to cost them. Oh and I have no idea where my suitcase is! But do you know what? I would do it all again to experience the 5 wonderful magical miracle days of Lisboa 50. To all CQN friends I met along the way obrigda amigos.

  17. Morning all,

I see this morning that Man. City are in talks to sign Benfica Goalie Ederson today.

Not news to me. Rumours of this had been circulating in Lisbon for some time, and it was a Lisbon Policeman who mentioned this to me (although he perhaps didn’t specifically mention Man. City ).

We had gone downstairs at Casa do Alentejo for some fresh air and to escape the heat in the main hall where there was a raucous ( but hugely good-natured ) party in full swing.

A police car was parked outside, where a large crowd had gathered, all looking upwards toward the third floor, cameras out, smiling faces, amazed at the singing, cheering and unabashed joy filling the air in that small side street just off Rossio Square.

The police had arrived to see what was going on there, as the crowd of locals/ tourists gathered to enjoy what was an amazing atmosphere as the party began to spill onto the street and the many small restaurants/bars continued to do a roaring trade with those escaping the stifling conditions for some brief respite – and more cold beer – of the festivities 3 floors up.

One Policeman approached us as we stood there, listening to the songs of joy and celebration from upstairs. He had a big smile on his face.

    “Big party tonight, nice singing”

“Yes” I replied. “Everyone is here to have a good time and to celebrate our Football Clubs success here 50 years ago”

“Celtic. Yes, we know Celtic, and we know Celtic fans. We love it when you come here. No trouble. Only drinking, and singing and having a good time. Not like other fans. Celtic fans always come here to enjoy”

    This made me smile.

We were joined by another couple of CQN’ers who i didn’t know, but introductions were made, hands shaken, and smiles exchanged. Two brothers, who shared the same surname as me – nicer guys you couldn’t hope to meet. The conversation continued with the Policeman ( I didn’t get his name but he was too nice to be a Pedro or a Jose ) and we chatted about Football, his club, Benfica, and the general feelings of the locals towards Celtic and our fans.

We eventually released him to go back to his duties, shaking hands, with the wishes that he have a quiet night, and he left us, as he first came to us, with a smile on his face. The Clark brothers also said goodnight as they headed back towards their hotel, or perhaps in search of somewhere quieter to sit and enjoy a cold drink as the night wore on.

Just one indellible memory of an unforgettable first, but, God willing, not the last visit to a beautiful City, inhabited by some beautiful, friendly people.

We met so many good Celtic Men and Women last week – too many to run through and name individually, but special mention to Sipsini, and his lovely partner, Lynne. Although we’d never met before, and only had brief e-mail conversations prior to arriving in Lisbon, sat and chatted almost a week ago now, and within minutes, it felt like we’d known them for years.

To all those we met last week, and those we haven’t met formally – yet – Thank You all for helping to make this a truly unforgettable week.

I think Hayes is a possibility. We have Roberts and Forrest competing in the right (I know there are uncertainties about Roberts future) we only have Sinclair on the left Sinclair has played 50 games this season !! So we need a left sided player

Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney’s rush through Aberdeen fans for Scottish Cup presentation

    The Herald: Alison McConnell

CELTIC’S teenage full-back Kieran Tierney ran through hordes of Aberdeen fans outside Hampden as he fought his way back into the stadium for the Scottish Cup presentation.

Details emerged yesterday afternoon of the journey the young Scotland internationalist is believed to have taken on foot as he pushed his way through the exiting Aberdeen crowds in order to get his hands on the coveted Scottish Cup.

The 19-year-old is believed to have fractured his jaw, with Brendan Rodgers revealing after the game that the defender expects to require surgery after a tooth went through his upper palate when he was caught by Aberdeen forward Jayden Stockley.

Tierney was taken to hospital after the game for treatment – but was determined to get back to Hampden for the presentation. Given strong painkillers, he was driven back to the national stadium just as Tom Rogic had scored the winning goal.

As Aberdeen fans poured out of the exits and flooded the car park and roads surrounding Hampden, police refused to allow Tierney, accompanied by a member of Celtic’s medical staff, to drive through believing it was too dangerous given the number of surrounding pedestrians.

Tierney left the vehicle on foot and hoofed it back through the crowds, still in boots and full Celtic kit, to ensure that he was there when the cup was handed out. He was given a rousing reception when he raced up the steps to lift the trophy with an emotional display towards the Celtic support.

Patrick Roberts – Being a Celtic invincible treble winner will always be the highlight of my career

    The Herald: Stewart Fisher

PATRICK Roberts is a Manchester City player again this morning, a 20-year-old man with the football world at his feet.

But such a hold has Celtic exerted on him over the last 18 months that, listening to him at Hampden Park on Saturday, that you might have believed that he was a washed-up has-been whose biggest achievements in the sport are already behind him.

No sooner had the Londoner played the last match of his productive loan spell, than he was conceding that playing his part in the first ever invincible treble in the history of Scottish football was the kind of achievement he may never surpass.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever play for a team who can go a whole season unbeaten – invincible,” said Roberts. “So I think, when I look back on my career, this will be the biggest highlight – my biggest accomplishment in the game. It’s good to get that so young, although I hopefully have a big career ahead of me.”

Whatever Roberts does or does not go on to achieve, the truth is that battling it out for titles on stages like this at such a tender age usually tends to be the making of a young footballer. The task facing him when he returns to the Etihad this summer didn’t get any easier when Pep Guardiola sanctioned the arrival of Monaco’s Bernardo Silva for a fee in the region of £43m, but Celtic has prepared Roberts well for whatever awaits him and would take him again in a heartbeat if they can find a way to get the deal done.

“Experience is crucial these days, especially for young players – and that’s what I’ve got here,” said Roberts, his voice choking with emotion. “If you’ve played in big games, managers know they can trust you, which is important. So coming to Celtic and winning four medals is very big for me. I can take that into the rest of my career.”

For all the talk of the once-in-a-lifetime nature of this achievement, Celtic aren’t getting any weaker and Roberts for one would back them to do another treble next year – with or without him. “It’s a tough achievement,” he said. “To do it next year? It will be tough – but I’m sure this Celtic team have the ability. For me? If it is a goodbye, it will be a tough goodbye. Because it’s a massive club. They took me when I was only 19 and to go on loan at a club like this is massive. I’ve been given an opportunity to play in truly massive games, to win trophies and win titles. It’s more than I could have asked for.”

Saturday’s outcome fully vindicated Roberts’ decision to decline a call-up for the England squad for the Under-20 World Cup. Having seen his second half shot tipped onto the post by Joe Lewis, he briefly thought that the Parkhead side might fall at the final hurdle. “I think the thousand shots Griff had were making me think it wouldn’t be our day!” joked Roberts. “No seriously, when I hit the post, I was thinking that on another day it would have gone in. It’s a tremendous save, actually. And then Tom got us out of there.”

Roberts emerged for the post-match festivities with his best pal Kieran Tierney’s jersey, not knowing that the left back, who sustained a facial injury after getting the wrong end of a swinging arm from Jayden Stockley, had been released from hospital in time to go up and lift the trophy himself.

“Kieran’s jaw wasn’t really up to talking,” said Roberts. “But he was back there in the dressing room, enjoying the celebrations with all the lads. I’m glad he got there for that. I thought he was going to miss the trophy presentation, which was why I put his shirt on. I couldn’t see him around – but his ugly face popping up to cheer up the fans was some sight.

“I thought it was only right to get his shirt out, if he wasn’t going to make it, because the fans love him to bits. He’s Mr Celtic. When he did turn up, there was more anger than joy when he picked up the trophy, I think! I’m just delighted for him because he’s born into this club. To win a treble and go a whole season invincible at the club he supports, it’s massive to him. I just think he was angry because he couldn’t take part in the rest of the game. But we won the game – and he’s a part of that.”
