Apparently Sevco have fallen out with them again over their reporting of the game yesterday so things might change yet

  2. If you watch a playback of Aberdeen’s goal today Hatate got caught up the pitch, he didnt make enough of an effort to get back with Johnny Hayes who had time to take a touch and pick his spot

    wit?

  3. Aberdeen defended deep – due to the fact we forced them back ,- but it gave us little room to run behind them.

  4. Superbru Week 1 results:-

    1. Ayrshire Tim- 14.5

    2. Hopeful Hoops- 14.0

    3= St. Tams- 13.0

    3= Big Archie

That 14.5 will be in the running for top weekly score and it might take a week of double fixtures for it to be bettered.

3 posters are displaying the strength to hold up the rest of the table on 2.5 points (wee BGFC, For Cierto and McCaff). The computer has randomly awarded the wooden spoon to McCaff which reminds me- I promised to supply a wooden spoon to last season’s bottom place- you just need to remind me who I owe that to.

We finished week 1 with 69 members (Cosy Corner Bhoy finally made it in). It’s not too late for new entrants to join- the more the merrier-

    Thanks again for supporting

  5. Evening folks,

This is a long post of my experience of watching the bhoys today, feel free to scroll by if it’s too long and boring.

Managed to get to Paradise today, first time in a while.

A long walk to the stadium after parking the car at the other side of the Dalmarnock Bridge. I, remember years ago you could park on Springfield Road and the wee boy would “watch” your car, how times have changed, but it was a beautiful day so the long walk to the park was pleasant enough through a beautifully landscaped big parkway at the back of the old athletes village for the commonwealth games, now lovely houses for local people.

Lots of kids and ladies going to the games now and it’s a great thing to see. As I entered the Celtic way it was throbbing with people, boys, girls, ladies and gents. Music blaring away, people chatting in groups or folks just taking in the atmosphere, taking a wee photo on the phone, did so myself. Wee picnic style wooden bench seats in front of the Celtic store with folks having a burger and a wee “drink” before going into the game.

Then into the game. My brother had let me “borrow” his ticket for the day as he is at a concert with his good wife. (Booked months ago, boy was he not happy at missing the game, but no chance of getting out of that one) He had just turned 65, so first time using a pensioners ticket, the walking stick and bunnet at the ready, but not needed as I look about 75 anyway, so say all my mates anyway.

Up the usual thousands of steps to the top tier of the Celtic end, well in my mind that’s what I call it. Still quite early, and after such a long walk and those steps decided to buy a coke. Sorry sir. says lad behind the counter, it’s only diet coke we have. Okay son, nae bother, I will take a Fanta. Gets my money ready, sorry, it’s only cards. Lucky enough I had my bank card, for the £3.15 non-alcoholic drink. And no pensioners discount, lol.

Goes up to my seat and tied to it is the TIFO material, all the boys and girls must have been in early, must have took some organising and co-ordination, well done to all involved.

Still early, but such a beautiful day, playing surface was looking magnificent as did the surroundings, as more people slowly came in could feel the atmosphere building up nicely. Down below Simon Donnelly and co blethering away on the touchline for Celtic TV. Players from both teams doing their warm up.

Then the stadium starts to slowly come alive as the minutes countdown to the start. The chap providing the entertainment at the side of the park starts by singing Grace, with the whole crowd joining in, spine tingling. The flag pole for the unfurling of the flag has now been erected.

The teams are about to come out, and at the Rangers end (I know they are dead) but that’s what I still call it, anyway at that end giant banners descend from the top tier being lowered right down to cover from the top tier to the bottom tier. We all pick up our bits of material for the TIFO and it slowly emerges around the whole stadium. I have to say, I have been coming on and off to Celtic park from the early seventies, but this sight of the full stadium TIFO was stunning. Celtic park and the fans in beautiful harmony and unison. The teams come out, Callum holding the league trophy with him. A guard of honour from the Aberdeen players for the Celtic team, a nice gesture.

Callum unfurls the flag and the TIFO slowly disappears as fans prepare to take in the game. Then “walk on” comes over the tannoy and once again the fans and the beautiful old stadium are one. And as if by magic, sure it was not scripted, the ref waits until the fans have finished singing walk on before he starts the match.

Hope that’s not bored any folks, and I maybe post a match report later.

Hail hail and god bless all of us who are privileged to follow the bhoys and ghirls in green.

    Dan

  6. In other news, with regard to the ole POTY thing, well what can I say – over 40 emails already and the game only finished 3½ hours ago. Voting remains open until 10pm tomorrow evening. Spread the word – remember, ANYONE can email their choices sencelpoty@gmail.com

@Dan9.40 lovely post summed up the day perfectly…….

Downside for me ??The sheep and their bile..Have they no fitba songs ffs…

Anyone who contrives to make cheap uncouth points about child abuse, as they seemed to relish in today ..

Have a want about them……The young team in 118 showed great restraint against the provocative bile

Great result made the day all so sweeter.

I agree re Dan`s post. Most enjoyable read.

As regards the Dons` support, I only heard the one song from them —We are the Mighty Aberdeen or something — and thought they were pretty quiet compared to other years. I guess I was fortunate not to hear their other stuff.

Hot Smoked ..you were lucky sir..Where you sit??

Christ even the lisbon lions were included in their bile……..

Anyway hope you enjoyed the game lovely atmosphere.

  10. DRAMBOWIECELT on 31ST JULY 2022 9:59 PM

Thank you, thankfully being at the other end of the park I could not hear them. Seen some sort of banner but thankfully it was too far away for me to read it.

Behaving like that to get some kind of reaction from opposition support brings shame on them. For us it was a wonderful day, and our wonderful support showed others how to enjoy the occasion and the football.

Think that speaks volumes, behaving the correct way, enjoying your day out as opposed to being sad and bitter.

The former will always prevail in the long run, best to ignore the latter and it will fade away, just like trolls on the internet, don’t give them oxygen, and they soon wither away and die.

  12. CORKCELT on 31ST JULY 2022 10:09 PM

    Thank you buddy.

Having read about the bigyin in Milan’s passing and the stories of his passion and love for Celtic and the goodness that shone through his spirit to other people, Celtic and non Celtic fans, I think that today his spirit was alive and on show today at the park.

It’s what makes the Club so special, the fans coming together on a beautiful summers day and showing the world how to celebrate in harmony and unison.

Maybe because it’s been so long since I have been at Paradise, but when you are in amongst all of that today, it’s a sight to behold.

I’ve been consistently critical of this weakness in the celtic side – we get away with it mostly in Scotland. `

It is certainly true that you have been consistently critical but to suggest that a thirty game winning streak is getting away with it is a bit of a stretch.

Well this is my first look at a post game blog on CQN for many a year.

It was enjoyable to see how wrong most of you were…:) Though I did see a couple of posts with which I agreed. Best of all was Dan’s description of his pre-game walk.

I watched the game with my fellow Celts at the Ottawa CSC – great company as always.

`In any case, as a matter of simple logic I don’t see how retaining players can be said to improve a team. It might avoid it getting worse, but it’s only maintaining the status quo ante.`

What if those retained players have improved? Does that not improve team?

` On top of that there’s no Tom Rogic and that would have to go in the debit column.`

Agreed. A special player is Tom

Parkhead looking good from Pollenca in a polished Celtic champions performance.

Not my vantage point poolside, but when there’s a better man in your seat? Fabulous coverage in a deep Celtic summer, panned out the way the vast majority of supporters thought it would, and the CQN trolling plum prevalence took another helluva beating.

The whole occasion if you’re ‘Celtic’ makes a mockery of SKY especially when you don’t have to pay for the excressance of Andy and his maniacal pursuit of the fraternity that couldn’t get him out of his Celtic contract, quickly enough.

Celtic were fitter than the proverbial butcher’s dug but the three minute opener via Coatbridge was delicious, and helped close the door, on daftie transfer fee with Europe eyeing raw Scots talent. A tight game was expected given Aberdeen’s desire to reaffirm that they’re second to Sevco.

Celtic were superb from Hart to Maeda before Turnbull Abada and GG the predicted subs, chipped in, and witnesses wanted four or five in a beautiful day in Paradise.

A big strong 💪 man at the helm and three points bagged CSC

Yep, understand what you are saying buddy.

When you are young it’s very easy to react, we were all there at one time or another. Great that they showed restraint. All credit to them.

Brilliant re the wee lassie, that so funny, shame about not getting the 3rd goal.

On the subject of the young ones. Was meeting my nephew after the game to give him a lift home. He is at the front of the standing bit, right beside the green brigade he told me.

Anyway, as we were on the long walk back to the car I asked him, what did you think of the game. Eh, he says, did not see much of the game. I said what do you mean? Well with all the flags in front of me and that. I was like FFS you are paying for a season ticket and you can’t see the match?

He says it’s great fun, aye okay says I rolling my eyes to him
