  1. Evidence …Colin Stein ( one of their goal scorers ) is on record as saying the game plan was for the greatest ever Ranger -Greig – to kick the oppositions main threat off the park in the initial stages …Greig duly obliged with gusto and the ref played his part by duly allowing this ..shameful

  2. Bheaver – did a Google search there. It was a calf injury and 4 weeks ago Ange said he was back in training.

Celtic boss clears up Ben Siegrist situation after absences

    By John McGinley

Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist has been suffering from a calf injury recently, which is why he hasn’t been named in match squads this month.

The summer signing has regularly served as deputy to Joe Hart on the Celtic bench week-to-week but hasn’t been involved since the 4-0 win away to Hibernian on 28th December.

The good news is that the shot-stopper has again returned to training. But he won’t be involved as a cup goalkeeper tomorrow.

Ange Postecoglou told a media conference today: “Benjamin Siegrist has missed the last three weeks with a calf complaint. He was back in training today but it’s too early for tomorrow.”

It’s unclear whether Scott Bain will be given a rare start tomorrow or Joe Hart will keep his place, despite it being the early round of a cup competition.

Hart was on Scottish Cup duty last term. Still, Siegrist did get some minutes in Scottish League Cup matches earlier this season with the former England international not featuring against Ross County or Motherwell.

Siegrist has looked the part in the limited minutes he has had for Celtic so hopefully he can shake off these injury issues to again push Hart for a place.

The Celtic number one has been in good form of late, making five or six saves in the last two matches alone that have drawn plaudits from supporters.

But competition is important in maintaining standards and avoiding complacency. Siegrist has always seemed a capable backup should Hart pick up an injury of his own.

    Thanks again.

I think Joe Hart needs someone pushing him and it won’t be Scott Baines

Apologies for giving exact same link – great minds think alike. And before some wag points out – fools seldom differ.

  6. CELTIC welcomed their one-millionth fan into Parkhead this season as they eased to victory against Aberdeen.

It has to be one of the worst Dons sides that has visited Celtic Park in years, offering nothing as they camped inside their own half. They even struggled to string a few passes together.

Celtic today have broken the one million fan barrier this season, just one of six clubs in Europe to reach that figure so far in 2022-23 and only the second club in the UK behind Manchester United.

  7. back in from the game,

    Terrible weather once again

    Hatate superstar from day 1

Oh , still settling in ,but looks like a fish out of water , have my doubts .

  8. I had high hopes for Siegrist, thought he would be our no.1 next season with JH approaching retirement.

If he was back in training four weeks ago, seems strange he’s not back in match squad yet.

By the way I hope Joe sits down this week and studies the 50 penalties that Tavernier has scored for them because he is likely to be facing him next week.

  9. I thot that the Abdn keeper had a decent game today, saved a couple of certain goals IMO.

The refereeing was a disgrace as ever, I honestly don’t know how these cnuts can sleep at night knowing that they are cheating just for the cash, it takes all sorts, scum and rotten to the core.

  10. DENIABHOY.

It would be a pointless exercise because even if he saved it they would find a way to have the penalty retaken.

  11. Just hame frae the game,

    Reo Reo Hatate.

We are playing some Unbelievable fitba. Thanks Ange and all the coaches. Superb.

What an incredible squad of players.

I cannae wait for the CL next Season.

When you consider what goes on in the box , I think that’s the first time I’ve seen a penalty given for a tug on a jersey . Sevco , breaking new ground since 2012 .

Looked a pen to me. Pulled shirt when jumping

If that’s a penalty, thre should be 30 a game, when crosses go in the box, would we have got that decision? HH

  14. BB

we’ll see, when and if it happens. In isolation, I think it is a pen

I loved it when Ireland got one in WC 2002 when Quinn had his shirt pulled at a corner by a Spanish defender. Sneaky, shitey defending. I know cos i used to do it

Yep. That stuff happens all the time.

It’s all about consistency and the Huns will consistently get those calls.

  16. The Exiled Tim – I fear you are right. Joe doesn’t seem to stop many.

Tavernier must have an astonishing conversion rate, maybe another world record.

    Practice makes perfect.
