    Correct. It’ll be two 0 – 0 draws.

  2. I posted earlier today a wee snippet from Caesar & The Assassin where Davie Hay was dealing with poor performances from players after another defeat – this time at Pittodrie. He singled out Provan and MacLeod – both established players signed by Billy McNeill and both popular with the support.

He told them they were dropped and that they would have to do it his way or no way. He became the biggest personality in the dressing room. Ronny could do worse than seek the assistance of someone like Davie.

I still laugh at a comment on here a while back saying that John Collins sits there like he is in the queue at the barbers.

  3. Seen plenty of games over the years where we were superb but got squat out of it, Juve and Bayern (A) being prime examples.

Tonight we were mince (again) but got 3 points, uncomfortable and unpleasant to watch, but 3 points nonetheless.

  4. Pfayr…..

    With all due respect …

Russell and may play in the championship …

Between them they have played 23 games this season with a combined goal tally of 3

Darryl Murphy has scored 7 in 11….

Both players are no better than stokes and Griffiths …..

Scepovic will score … Once he gets regular games he will come good ….. I like the position s he gets into .

  5. BCW’s, as said I’m watching the game again, Scepovic looks better than he was live, and he Stokes and Johansen were our best players. The Bhoy did fine, hopefully now set to go on.

Calling me a fecker and putting a smiley doesn’t excuse your rudeness even tho you try to dress it up as being jocular

I can read ..fairly well actually …you mentioned Boavista …we can see in what context …

That’s irrelevant to the original point mate. Comparisons were drawn between this year’s European opponents and Boavista.

    That’s what I commented on.

  8. WITS,

Assuming RD lasts the season what would we need to achieve for it to have been a success

Just in from the game, that reminded me of how the huns used to win. But take it, seen many again games when the opposite has happened to us.

Smallest away fans I’ve seen about 20 .

I know you weren’t HT and I’m sure everyone else does.

I was the one who highlighted the disparity.

Just back in from the game …..we really weren’t very good at all….seemed very nervous indeed….anyway, we won, so I’ll go to bed a happy Bhoy….and look forward to Sunday, but I hope the board are watching all this very closely …..

  12. TET, exactly, however/but a good manager should build his strategy around the squad he has, not the squad he wishes he had

    Hail Hail

  13. What is the Stars on

    TET

    I am real

A better manager would get a better effort out of those players

    Its simple

    But here we are

  14. Boring game, good result. I can accept tonight. The Club is under a lot of (deserved) pressure….so I’ll take the outcome. We are improving.

Their goal should have been disallowed….the player elbowed it forward than knocked it in with the back of his hand. Unfortunately the official on the by-line is legally blind and could not see it………probably will see him as a match referee in Scotland soon

  15. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,

THE HUNS DEMISE, HAS BEEN OUR DEMISE… Another pathetic performance, so sad.

  16. Not a good performance but 3 points. Astra are decent, quick on the break, but may lack a finisher.

We played with little pace or rhythm and have no playmaker.

Away will suit us better I believe.

SS should have scored at least four goals tonight.

Worse still was the amount of times we made unforced errors and gave away possession cheaply.

At least Ronny saw the two worst culprits (Chas and Calum) and subbed them.

However 7 out of 9 points. Avoid defeat in Romania and European football in the new year is attainable.

    GB brilliant tonight, excellent banner.

Best moment was watching that total fud, hun loving, fat, baldy, bassa, Waddell leave, fuming, face contorted, when we went 2-0 up.

Oh for a pass to a Celtic player. Europe after Christmas a real possibility though. Salzburg and Zagreb should be some game.

Did Scott Brown have the flu and was Charlie playing with his eyes closed?

Stokes, Tonev, Wakaso, McGregor, Berget… None of them look good enough. Maybe try Brown on the right and wee Forrest on the left when he’s fit or we could sign another player on loan to see how they do.

Scepovic was ok despite missing 3 great chances. Sutton has it in for Ronny.

Re Ronny and the definition of a successful season

I would be amazed if he wins the league and if he does I will be delighted and will regard that as a succesful season

  19. The “booing” at Boavista has become a modern legend.

There was no booing. There was one loud groan when Lenny passed the ball backwards in the midfield, in the middle of a tense match. Our first European semifinal in living memory, and we were the favourites. It was an incredibly angsty evening.

Bu the groan was the type of sound you hear all the time in football matches all over the world.

What blew it out of proportion was Lenny’s (drunk?) da’, running to the Record saying he’d never been so insulted in all his life and he wouldn’t set foot at Celtic Park again until every single fan personally apologised to him. Which of course the Record milked for all it was worth.

  20. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

    Westies

The positioning of the extra official …..to think he allowed the goal ..wtf are they for

  21. PFAYR

It was jocular. You know it.

Can’t be arsed with grown men seeking outrage. Feckin pathetic.

    Get a life ffs.

  22. I’ve said this before, but I like repeating myself.

We are changing, not a manager, or a few players, but nuts and bolts, philosophy.

It’s going to be a bumpy ride for a bit, even quite a wee while.

But I do think Ronny will do well for us.

Why? He has conviction. He sticks with his philosophy, he can take the criticism.

He also has luck, Craig Gordon has signed just as FF departed, now everyone needs a bit of luck.

  23. Latchford

    Nail on head!

Something not right at the top.

I would draft in Mr Carson, majordomo at Downton Abbey as Chief Executive or GM. He ticks all the boxes. Commanding figure, strict but fair, church going, handsome, articulate.Would look after the dietary needs of the players at Lennoxtown and on the park could stand in for big Virgil when he goes in January.

It’s not irrelevent. Celtic were pants against Boavista, but we won. Relatively speaking, we were on par with Boavista then. Now we’re on par with Astra, Zagreb and Saltzberg, but we won. :)

  25. the glorious balance sheet on

    Big Wavy-

I didn’t call the comparison with the Seville season, another poster, Guernica, did and I questioned him on it at which point you butted in.

I am not calling for Ronny`s dismissal. Some other posters are and that their opinin which they`re perfectly entitled to.

We have played better and lost. We will do so in the future. I`m judging tonight`s performance through the bigger picture. Its the third performance in a row in Europe where we have got points when we could just as easily have got none on the balance of play. With less fortune – or an ordinary goalkeeper – we could be on 0 points right now.

I`m grateful we won and winning ugly is a good habit to occasionally be in, but I`m not letting it blind me to the shortcomings that I witnessed tonight.

I was in the South Stand tonight which I normally expect to house the more contented elements of the Celtic support and they were not happy at all with what they were seeing. Maybe malcontent additives are being put into the pies at Celtic Park. Or just maybe there are reasonable grounds for concern with where we as a club are going.

  26. Pf….. With our signing policy some we win Hooper some we lose bangura.

Just because we spend £3-5m on a player won’t guarantee that he’ll not be a diddy.

Griffiths form prior to joining us was better than may and Russell… But he simply ain’t good enough .

I sincerely hope that we get opportunity to sign Guidetti as he is out of contract at end of season …..

I seriously think him a Scepovic could make a very good partnership .

Scepovic needs his fitness and sharpness … But I can see something in him .

I’m glad you pointed that out. I certainly don’t remember widespread booing against Boavista. The moans and groans were as a result of one backwards pass.

  28. Captain Beefheart on

Why don’t we sack the turnip, still call ourselves great fans, and get Jackie? Of course Jackie will ensure that our players pass to one another in a coherent manner, won’t he?
