I met Dena29 tonight in the rain outside Parkhead.
This lady and others had made the trip to watch Celtic from Lurgan in the north of Ireland on a miserable Thursday night in the full knowledge that they’d have to leave no later than 9:30pm to ensure that they caught the ferry home. Yep, all that travelling and they knew they wouldn’t even get to see the whole game.
That’s a Tim.
God Bless Dena and safe trip home.
Also a mention for one of the most decent men I’ve ever met. He occasionally posts on here as St Martinsbhoy and he runs the Tyneside No1 CSC and he also had made the journey north for tonight’s game.
You epitomise all that’s great about our club and our support mate.

Follow the Football on BT Sport just played a clip of a Liverpool supporter doing the commentary on the recent Merseyside derby from a Fanzone.
When Jagielka equalised with that screaming half -volley from 25 yards, he shouts:
“How lucky was that! That was a cross! He meant that as a cross! And there was a foul on Skirtl! Look at the replay! A cross, that was. Lucky bastard!”

I cannot believe you are seriously trying to compare Boavista in Seville season with tonight.
The booing v Boavista was borne of fans who thought we only had to turn up to win given what we had achieved against formidable European opponents that season. Complacency possibly and maybe over expectations.
Tonight’s dissent from posters on here is borne of exasperation; of seeing another hopeless performance against limited opposition in a season where this has become the norm.
I stand by what I said – there is no comparison in any way between Seville and now. People are scraping the bottle of the barrel with excuses now.

Some of us imagine that we are still a major European force and should be constantly supping at Europes top table
Well let your imaginations run wild bhoys and imagine that we had beaten the mighty Maribor and replaced them in their present group

………….. and your point is?
My post was relative to home performances this season!
——
We led twice against the team you suggest we need to be ‘doing us a favour’
My point should be obvious
__________
OK!
Let me do the ‘maths’ for you (re the favour):
If Salzburg beat Zagreb + Astra – most likely they will win the Group.
Max points Zagreb can then get = 9.
Max points Astra can then get = 6.
Therefore without the use of pie r squared on a calculator – one win for Celtic from our last 3 games = 10 points!
Amazing coach we have in Ronny, so amazing that he is responsible for all the misplaced passes, all the wayward crosses, all the mistimed tackles, all the missed chances.
What a man Ronny is.
We won ffs, won ugly, many better Celtic teams than this one struggled to win, never mind win ugly.
This place is getting more hun like every day with the sense of entitlement.

TheLurkinTim – Our board will not sack Ronny anytime soon so those that want to give him time will, I think, have their wishes granted. I personally get really frustrated with all this talk of him having some kind of mystical insight into how the game should be played and that it will take a long time for the players to understand him and do what he wants etc. etc.
Does he think MON, WGS and NL were clueless? He is tinkering about the edges of the staff kitchen instead of instilling passion, pride, commitment, belief and fear of failure into professional footballers. He talks of fast football and yet we played tonight at a pedestrian pace. He says it is about one-touch football and quick passing yet we are sloppier than ever in possession and make unforced errors all over the park.
I think it is wrong not to give someone a chance after giving him the job but, on the other hand, can we afford to keep someone in the job out of a sense of fair play and loyalty? Which damages the club more? Only time will tell.
Hail, Hail.
The Battered Bunnet on
I thought that was a pretty poor performance and pretty necessary 3 points.
With so many players playing poorly, it’s difficult to judge whether the problem was the shape of the team, the mentality they took onto the pitch, or simply a collective and inexplicable malaise.
Whatever it was, it was uncomfortable to watch, toe curling at times, but ultimately enough to get the result to keep the show on the road.
Pleased for Scepovic, who could have chucked it but refused to, and amazed that we sold Fraser Forster for £10M and replaced him with a better keeper for zip.

KDC called it right on the subs – pretty sensible move – go for it, get a goal, tighten up. Wakaoso won the free kick for the first, Tonev cross spilled by keeper for second. Some folk can not give the manager any credit no matter what – if he hadn’t made changes it would have been all “he should have gone to two up front,” he makes changes and is criticised. Thinking for some, he is just the whipping boy for the board – getting a bit like the pardew and Newcastle situation.
The whole thing is very unseemly now. Used to love this blog, though posted infrequently, as it was high level debate about all things football. Now it’s just becoming anti-board/manager v faithfull through and through. The happy clapper mineshafter thing used to be humerous and in good grace, but becoming more aggressive now.
Don’t really fit in either camp, but thinking there are some here who are becoming like what we all used to despise about rangers fans – the superiority complex, the expectation that we should always be winning and playing well. They forget that we’ve only ever had two proper top level teams in modern times – the lions and the Seville team. WGS was never really accepted by some, yet he is the only ex Celt in the media who won’t criticise the team or club – even “legends” like Sutton and Hartson do now. We are at a low level now – it happens, and it took the best part of 20 odd years last time to crawl back up to European respectability – I remember how big a deal it was to be in Europe after Christmas for the first time not so long ago – now it’s all “we should be beating other European teams easily.”
I’m dropping out for a while. For the above reasons bit also feeling that the cliques mean that the real interesting debates are either stifled or never really get started. A shame, as this used to be the best celtic site around, and the crack was good, before people took it too seriously.
