  1. DeniaBhoy in awe of wee Oscar's Courage on

Scottishleaf – Fabregas won the ball cleanly and Stokes actually fouled him. Ref got it wrong.

  2. A red mist descended on Scott Brown, a mist that is going to cost him. His kick at Neymar was innocuous, not the full on studs up of the Lafferty on Hinkel calibre, not a Roy Keane on Alfe Inge Haaland, career threatening challenge, nor was it in the same league as Graeme Souness on Gheorghe Rotariu, nah! it was just a wee petulant swing.

I thought it was a soft sending off, but it was a red card offence. Scott Brown, regardless of his frustrations, should know better.

I thought the tackle by their centre-back was a lot nastier than Broonie’s, and like Lafferty and Graeme too, he benefited from an inconstant ref.

Feel like wee fra but defo going to bed this time..

I’ll wake up tomorrow proud to have been at Celtic park tonight for a cl match against barca and ready for anything coming my way from deadco part 2 etc..

  5. Inverness, regularly kicked off the park. Murderwell booted and clogged.

Tyncastle hacked and scythed. must I go on?

Wake up, we are too soft Tony’s kidneys are raw with the treatment he got in the box tonight .I don’t see anyone commenting on that.Oh wait the incompetent

    Feckin ref missed it.

  6. Three weeks until the Ajax game.A bit of re-grouping,a couple of good performances, and we can have a real go.Ajax much more our level,so an even game. Not beyond us to get 7 points.

  7. Just in Ayrshire is wet….

Well was sitting in main stand in front of executive box’s, saw a replay on a TV, so Broonie had to walk, stupid, but who hasn’t been. He’s been no bad discipline wise last few years so a relapse, he’s learned another lesson. When he stood with his arms out stretched against the deid team, we loved him…!

Game wise, och one goal, felt we done ok and looking forward..

    Ayrshire is Green and White

And so is Broonie, remember that..

    Just back from the game.

First point: I cannot stand Barcelona, and I find this love-in with them excruciating. Hundreds of Tims were watching the game with Barca scarves on – not “half and halfs” – the full Barca. To me, they are as corrupt and as cynical as the rest of them. They live on the never-never, bully and intimidate the authorities, and their players are cheats.

The sending off of Brown was a disgrace, and was prompted entirely by their moaning.

We seem to view them as some sort of fellow-rebel-oppressed strugglers… when in fact they are a multi-million dollar debt balloon, funded in part by the fascist autocracy of Qatar and maintained by corrupt Spanish banking practices.

Sorry, we need to have more respect for ourselves than this. If I never see their overpriced, indebted, cynical, little selves again it will be too soon.

Second point: We gave them far, far too much respect. We sat so deep, especially in the first half, that we almost played ourselves out of the game. Sammy was the only one willing to go in and challenge, the rest stood off, as if frozen.

However, despite all their monstrous debt-fuelled squad, there was only one goal in it. Well done, Bhoys.

Third point: Sammy was world class tonight.

    —————————————

    One million % correct.

  9. BTW, forgot to add.

Watched the game with my Boro supporting mate tonight, even he was greetin at the start of the game.

His team have won four games this year, he was shouting for us more than I was, it was a pleasure.

Broonie was a yellow all day long, never a red, Izzy was a second yellow, all the other cards were a ref who was out of his depth.

  10. Scott Brown cost us the game tonight. Neymar had done nothing all game but fall over. Scott gave him a sly kick, which happens everywhere, neymar over reacted. Scott was still at fault. He will know this himself I will not crucify him for a moments stupidity, HAD A LIFETIME OF DOING STUPID THINGS MYSELF, with 11 we could have won, at 10 we could have been hammered but in the end we only conceded 1. Supporting Celtic has always been this way.

    Proud but unbowed tonight

  11. Zbyszek mówi, trzymaj się Oscar on

Watching highlights from all CL games and just listening to the expert, Polish retired FIFA class referee.

Brown foul was for yellow but kicking Barca player hand was straight red.

  12. I’d be stating the obvious to go on about Brown’s childish stupidity. Also Ambrose scared the bejeesus out of me for most of the game ; at the goal he saw his man but neglected him.

Otherwise a fine performance from Celtic. Even, at times, from Sammi, Izzy and Charlie.

If we had all eleven players on the pitch playing at their best, we’d have beaten them. But when does that happen ?

  13. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

    BT

I’m not condoning it. I don’t rate Brown as you will know if you’ve read any of my posts over the years. What I’m saying is – he’s done it. Booting him when he’s down is not the way to deal with him.

In fairness, Brown has given a lot recently and tonight’s lapse may be him reverting to type under pressure but he has cleaned his act up.

I’m inclined to support right now rather than condemn. We need what he is giving us right now . It was an idiot lapse in an otherwise decent performance?

  14. Good night bhoys and ghirls………Celtic are the best Simple ….and Scott Brown is our captain full stop……he is what we want to be …also simple ……simple is Braw …keep it Braw und Simple ……..

  15. Just in from the game. Didn’t see what Brown did to get sent off and haven’t seen replay. If he had a wee kick at Neymar then he deserved red not just for the offence but because I thought he had tracked back brilliantly and could have stopped him without fouling let alone any afters.

Nevertheless, Sammi. What a player. And when he got his dander up, he was two players. Sure he lost the ball sometimes, but it was Barcelona. And they hunt in packs. That’s what they do. They get the ball back when they lose it.

And that in turn puts pressure on the opposition when trying to make even the simplest pass as they know that if it’s not perfect, you won’t get the ball back for a long time.

Matthews. He injured his ankle during the warm up having a shot. Didn’t have another shot after that. Was surprised he made the start of the game. And even more surprised he lasted the full game. Supreme effort. Even if it meant he was slightly below super human.

Fraser Forster. Fantastic. If he doesn’t get picked for England it’s their loss. Just as they did she they continually overlooked Chris Sutton.

I thought we made Barca look pedestrian at times. They didn’t really open us up until the last 10 minutes.

Efe and Virgil were immense. Again. Forming a formidable partnership.

Completely agreed with Neil’s timing and choice of subs. Lustig was on a yellow and we were down to 10 men. So made sense to bring Matthews to fullback. Forrest and Pukki did enough to justify their time on the park.

Did I mention that Sammi was superb?

  16. glendalystonsils on

12 points still to play for. No reason why we can’t get 10 of them. May not happen but it is within our capabilities if we believe.

  17. Proud again tonight.

The Bhoys worked their socks off.

    Could have won that….

Gamechanger? Broony caught having a furtive dig/kick in the back.

He should keep the head on such occasions… Or be more subtle…Or not be caught..

  18. SUPERB performance by the Bhoys, and the manager.

Screw you clowns criticising the side. It’s pathetic.

You have NO idea the levels of focus and concentration needed to compete with Barcelona’s superstars.

EVERY Celt out there earned respect tonight. Broonie let himself down in ONE factor – that he didn’t feign a trip himself after toe-ing that wee prick Neymar; you can bet your life one of them would have been clever ebough to save their skin.

Before you wring your hands and tut-tut over the captain’s actions just ask yourself how many times you spoke in anger at Neymer’s antics throughout the game. Speed of thought and coniving are per-requisite at that level.

But for the bitter laws of physics we may have pulled off a miracle.

Happenstance being, the draw in Amsterdam leaves us needing to win 3 in a row to qualify, assuming barca pump Milan home and away.

Our team are showing that the formula is working – pushing deified clubs to scrap for every inch and advantage against us. A remarkable effort so far, going unrewarded by whatever karmaic influences ultimately govern football.

What that means is – our luck must surely change; we are due the rub of the green and it might just be falling timely for us over the next two months.

As long as we perform at that level we will get, and deserve, the points we need.

Sadly for those who love to hate, the Celts are NOT being pumped 5 and 6 to 0 – the Celts are right in there, on spartan resources comparitively, slugigng it toe ot toe with the big boys.

I’m loving it. Well done Lenny and the Lhads.

    Choccy.

We can’t keep a clean sheet in any game at the moment and can’t score in the CL …..

IMO we’ll beat extremely fortunate to beat Ajax twice

We are a step back from the team last season ….we don’t seem to carry any luck this season either

    ——

Got to disagree on Efe. Thought he was magnificent. At the goal Fabregas was clever. He made a run in front of Efe then dropped back. The cross was exactly where Efe couldn’t reach it and the header was excellent to direct it back and out of reach of Foster.

  21. DeniaBhoy in awe of wee Oscar's Courage on

mihal – Agree re. Ambrose. He has too much confidence in his dribbling out of defence abilities for my liking. Showboating might work in the SPL but at this level you can be sure it will end in tears sooner or later. Perhaps he has so little confidence in the midfield’s ability to hold onto possession he has just decided not to give it to them. . .

  22. glendalystonsils on

And another thing……. £50 million pounds for Naymar and it was his play acting rather than his football which did most to win them the game. Pathetic. Sammi must be worth £500 million.

  23. FAN A TIC

I agree with this as its what I have been saying. The one exception is,striker.Hooper scored 31 goals in this team playing the same way.We will be lucky if all of our strikers reach that total.People can say what they want, some ridiculous comments like ,Stton Henrik, would struggle to score in this team.Nonsense.Strikers are a breed apart. We bought a guy,and are trying to turn him into a striker. We can cut costs and seek out bargains elsewhere, but in this day and age,£5 million for a proven striker is not a lot of money.

  24. By the way,I have watched every goal Finnbogason has scored this season.A gem of a striker. He will go in January.

  25. guys came over on Friday game at killie sat rod at hydro then my beloved celtic in champs lge v barca. lets get to today, went to merchant city about 4 to busy .went to well known southside bar band on good got on their bus .thank them for that. got bus back to pub then within 5 mins felt me pinning to get back to cork. the managers a dud brown get him to f not going back shit etc etc .we got beat by Barcelona no disgracr disgrace scott will feel bad but Christ this guy was a victim of vile internet cap when his sister god rest her was suffering he did not hide then he scored at ipox created a song he was stupid to ngt yeah Charlie missed yeah guys it happens my year was complete when we qualified in most dramatic fashion anything else is a journey .enjoy foster to barca 10 m anybody he was outstanding no doubt someone will find fault .great time to be a celtic fan hh

Thanks pal. I was trying to remember the name of the Steaua player only yesterday. Would never have got it!

  27. We fought like our lives depended on it .

    The players gave their all.

    Our ball retention was abysmal.

We lack pace and composure, plus we are impotent upfront.

Tonight Scott Brown gave his all , but petulance and immaturity are part of his weaknesses.

He let his team mates down badly , just when they were jointly starting to get a grip in the game.

The scorpion is what the scorpion does.

We will struggle to win a match in this group.

To win matches you have to score goals.

We just don’t look like scoring more than we will concede.

I am still pleased with the gargantuan effort that our players put it.

Celtic first, Celtic last, Celtic overall.

Was my question not clear enough for you ? Obviously not ! I have no idea what a Mineshafter is and I don’t really care, if it means you object to me expressing my opinion when it takes my fancy to do so then I guess that’s me, unfortunately some of us don’t have the luxury of spending 20 hours a day on this blog, but I notice you still didn’t answer my question? So I’ll ask you again who’s going to score the goals against Ajax ? And don’t start naming the whole team, Some people on here have already got 6 points in the bank, So has GH been replaced in your Non Mineshafter opinion ?
