Just back from the game. Enjoyed a fabulous occasion. The fans were magnificent from start to finish. The TITO looked amazing at the game. The atmosphere electric. Game wise, we were obviously up against a far superior side technically. However the turning point was the Brown sending off. It was at the other end of the ground so did not get a good view, but just watched the television pictures.
Scott Brown, hang your head in shame. An utterly stupid sending off offence. Good free kick to give away, from a footballing sense, well worth a yellow card to stop a dangerous move. But he then has a sly kick at the Barcelona player whilst he is on the ground. Does not make any difference is there was little contact. Why would any player, let alone the captain of your club act in such a childish, selfish way.
The fans were magnificent. The players gave their all against superior players and if Brown had not been sent off I think we had every chance of getting a draw, or even snatching a victory.
If I was our manager I would hammer Brown. Somehow I don’t see Lenny doing that.
Anyway, despite that an uplifting experience tonight, thank you to the Celtic fans.
I think I offered Croftfoot roundabout not Glasgow Green :-) But you’ld be a no show in any case.
And, if you ever live up to that commitment you made to honest posting, you might have re-produced the one exception that I foresaw, for which it is valid to criticise Sott Brown tonight, should you wish.
But that’s enough preaching to the BNP- I want to talk to fellow tims tonight.

Thought Broonie had a great game until the sending off. Reminded me of NFL in the amount of ground he covered, great engine.
Ordering off, ref was only yards from incident and took out yellow, after questions from Barca players (linesman in ear?) changed to red. Captain let himself and team mates down but still want him in my team.

3 for 2 Fanad. but in a game like that you must bring on fresh legs. He just called it that Matthews was better option then Lustig at the back for last 20 minutes.
Can’t believe people are crucifying Neymar for reacting to Broonie’s kick.
There isn’t a footballer alive, not even a Celtic player, who wouldn’t have reacted to being kicked on the back by an opponent while lying on the ground after being fouled by the same player. Or are we to believe that a Celtic player would have looked up at the kicker and said, “I say old boy. That was rather unsporting, wot?”
Time for a bit of perspective. Brown was stupid and deserved to walk.

We played exceptionally hard against a technically better team.
Brown undid a good personal performance with an act of stupidity.
At this level our system lets us compete but is not creative.
When a Celtic player has the ball everyone is to concerned with holding a defensive posture leaving no outlet for a pass.
Compare our opponents who always had at least 2 outlets.
This is also often the case in the SPL but our superior players create room for themselves.

Bet Barca are really worried with all these CQNers saying they are no longer their 2nd favourite team . . . Come on guys, get a grip. The better team won, just. But don’t blame playacting or cheating for that. Their passing accuracy of around 90% to our 40% (and they passed several hundred more passes than us) tells the story. Possession is king. Make the ball do the work. Make the opponents chase. Barcelona were without the best player in the world tonight, of course they are not going to be as fluid and attractive as usual.
We played ok, lots of heart and lots of aggression. Nothing more than that. We were careless in possession and we were toothless from mid to front. Sammi played his heart out but there was no other tactic other than give it to him and let him run until dispossessed. Reminded me of the McGeady days. Everything went to him and Barcelona simply crowded him out and took the ball back.
Winning tackles followed by quickly giving it away is too often our signature in CL games.
We can play much better than that, we should have played much better than that but that doesn’t mean we would have drawn or won. Barcelona might not be the team of 2-3 years ago but your dreaming if you think they are still not one of the top teams in Europe.
