  1. There are some among us who would complain if they were mistakenly sent to Heaven….

‘ I wiz expectin merr o’ ris place. It’s no aw it’s cracked up tae be.’

What is wrong with us ?

    We ARE in Heaven.

We are playing in a cash strapped football backwater & by some miracle we are mixing it with the world’s footballing giants.

We have lost narrowly to two of the greatest clubs on the planet & were not disgraced by either of them. Our team gave us everything they’ve got.

    Are we delirious ?

    Don’t be so daft !

    Ach, What’s the point ?

    SACK THE BORED !

  2. Just back from the game.

First point: I cannot stand Barcelona, and I find this love-in with them excruciating. Hundreds of Tims were watching the game with Barca scarves on – not “half and halfs” – the full Barca. To me, they are as corrupt and as cynical as the rest of them. They live on the never-never, bully and intimidate the authorities, and their players are cheats.

The sending off of Brown was a disgrace, and was prompted entirely by their moaning.

We seem to view them as some sort of fellow-rebel-oppressed strugglers… when in fact they are a multi-million dollar debt balloon, funded in part by the fascist autocracy of Qatar and maintained by corrupt Spanish banking practices.

Sorry, we need to have more respect for ourselves than this. If I never see their overpriced, indebted, cynical, little selves again it will be too soon.

Second point: We gave them far, far too much respect. We sat so deep, especially in the first half, that we almost played ourselves out of the game. Sammy was the only one willing to go in and challenge, the rest stood off, as if frozen.

However, despite all their monstrous debt-fuelled squad, there was only one goal in it. Well done, Bhoys.

Third point: Sammy was world class tonight.

I paid £40 for my ticket tonight and my package for mini wad over £80.

I have every right to dlate a player on £20K PLUS week..

    Celtic captain?

On the train back from the game. Another fantastic cl night, ok the result went against us. Please let’s not slaughter anyone tonight though. Everyone of them gave their all, after 30 mins I wondered how we could keep the effort up. Scott Brown may have had a moment of madness which he will regret more than anyone. But don’t go over the top, if the mob was running Celtic Forster, Ambrose , Sammi, Forrest, Stokes, Brown would all have been punted at some stage.

As for Sammi, he became two players after Brown departed. We lack the quality to compete with Barca in a football sense but we cannot criticise the heart of the team.

The Crowd as always were brilliant. Bring on the Ajax!

  5. @Denia

No other tactic other than to give it to him and let him run until he’s dispossessed

nice summing up of wee jnr.

  6. Turkey bhoy. Not Neil’s fault. Neil admitted that he got none of if his 1st choice signings his hands are tied

Nothing I mean nothing comes in the way of PL bonus. So no debt cash in the bank and nice bonus

    Denai..,

Bang on, zipping the ball about at speed is how to win games, though we caused them more problems than anyone else this season so far, obviously means nothing to the many win at all cost brigade but never get frustrated and petulant, moments of madness are a hanging offence.

  9. SydneyTim

The huddle. Natural goal scorers make those runs to get into positions

    Non natural goal scores don’t

Think crosses and think Hartson and sutton Players who make runs and attack balls

    They cost money

    We got pukki

    ————

Sure we’d be a better team with a Hartson or Sutton but against Milan Matthews beat the left back every time, and never once, not once, put in a cross in that a Hartson or Sutton would score from. That’s our main issue.

  10. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

I thot Stokes had that not interested look abt him again. Half hearted all night!!

  11. Some utter tosh on here tonight. Crap like ‘i would fine Brown’ highlights the difference between managing a team in Championship Manager and doing it in real life

Di Canio was sacked because he doesnt understand that the days of ruling by fear are long gone – to slaughter Brown tonight is also failing to recognise this

For me, the incident sums up much of what is wrong with football now – it is becoming a non-contact sport with guys literally screaming and falling down at the merest touch. Yes, Brown made a mistake but a) it wasnt a red until the Barca players intervened and b) it was worthy of nothing more than a ‘dont be stupid, son’ comment from the ref.

As proud of the last two CL performances as i am, I think it is a bit of a lost opportunity as neither Barca nor AC Milan are anywhere near the level they have been. Still, better than Ramsdens cup

  12. SFTB

I think you’re missing the point so stop playing stupid ! Has GH been replaced ? Just a Yes or No answer would be great not your usual paragraphs of waffle ?

  13. Just back, have not seen what happened with SB,did

not think it was a red at the game, seems he had a wee

kick at naemare, if so needs a erse booting……..beaten by

a better side no doubt, but thought we did well.

  14. Just back from Celtic park, great atmosphere, disappointed in broony, thought he’d got rid of the petulance, just need to beat Ajax back to back, which we are capable of doing

Merlin does’n have a look in. They have gone down the track of disguising losses by revaluing assets – the stadium and training ground. Looks good on the Balance Sheet but does not creat £1 cash.

Fun and games on the way.

  16. ItaliaBhoy –

Spot on about Celtic fans wearing Barca regalia at the game. It is nauseating.

I remember being in Paris for Brazil v Scotland and being amazed at the number of Scots sitting in the Scotland end bedecked in Brazil shirts.

I am all for cameraderie and sportsmanship, but some take it to extremes.

  17. Denai

    —-

Re possession, I did have a laugh at half time when the stat showed we’d only completed 56 passed in 45 minutes, that almost seems impossible.

Best not to mention of those 56 passed only 30 found their man.

Shame, as I think we can pass the ball much better and this Barca team aren’t like the one of old that spent every minute hassling and trying to win back the ball.

    Just a thought’

All thru the monkey’s “erm” champions league campaign

I never watched or listened to a single game. I had no interest in them.

Tonight we had four monkeys sitting behind us i in the Old bank bar,

and they were quite vocal about our chances i.e. zero.

Their night was made when wee fabi score What makes a monkey

    so interested in us?

They are chlorophobic morons who define themselves by their hatred of all things Catholic/Irish/Celtic.

    Italiabhoy,

Welcome on board, Sammi is the kind of player to get you the sack

  20. It shows how far we have come. Anger and frustration after defeats from Milan and Barca. We feel hard done by.

They may have better players but we dont fear them anymore.

I think that is what is called progress

  21. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

The reason for the misplaced passes and poor ball retention was that we were well out of our comfort zone.

We were not given the time to think when we had the ball and Barca’s pressing was impressive.

In comparative terms, we are about two divisions below the top European teams.

The equivalent of us playing a team from SPFL Div.1

FF, the two centre backs and Sammi are about the only ones who can compete at that level.

    Perhaps Lustig, also.

Younger players, Adam and James, lack consistency and experience.

The rest are average, at best, who will shine against the lesser lights of the SPL.

I don’t mean that as a criticism, merely a recognition of our station in life.

That we can get as close as we do to the CL teams, is a credit to the work rate and commitment of the manager and players, but we were outclassed tonight.

  22. gscbhoy (Just idag är jag stark – Just today, I am strong)

    ————

Have you not been watching football for the last 20 years, the ‘dont be stupid, son’ ref doesn’t exist and if he did he wouldn’t be near a CL game.

  24. our defence is the best we have had

    for many a year

just sort out the midfield and strikers

    and we will match anybody

    easy

  25. The sending off of Brown was a disgrace, and was prompted entirely by their moaning.

Eh ….no….he was just very, very stupid. The player was on the ground and he had a “fly kick” at him right in front of the ref. What is not to understand about that basic fact?

    Red card. Stupid.

  26. JimmyQuinnsBits on

Lets be honest, any result tonight, or away to Barca, could only be considered a bonus – we’re classes apart and, aye, a large part of this is money.

However, we should have had milan away. We’re countin on beatin Ajax home an away, and takin Milan at home – based on what?

This team has promise but, imo, we’re a step back from last year – summer transfer window was not a good one.

This isnt a reaction to tonights game

Lying in my bed in Monklands Hospital after a hernia op today, nearly wrecked myself when Brown kicked Neymar.

He may be a diving wee git but Brown, what the hell were you thinking of?!

  28. Sydney Tim,

how many chances did our strikers get tonight?,

I was at the front door when the barca bus arrived.. as the players entered the stadium I shouted through the dignified silence ” come on you bhoys in green”

Stupid woman in front of me turned and shooshed me.

You can imagine my reaction ” are you here to support your team or kiss their asses “
