Dear angry and frustrated have a wee lie down

and when you wake up your a tim.

  2. Jorges

How many times does Lenny need to see izzy to know this is what’ll happen? Ffs I posted on here earlier that he can’t rely on him to be switched on for 90 mins v Barca…and it was no surprise to see him caught.

That aside, Lenny set the team out fantastically well, and the Forrest sub almost worked.

    Great effort.

    Broony..grow up.

Brown gave the ref a decision to make

    Red was justified IMO ….

  4. It’s bedtime in Dubai…

So proud of my team, and proud of our manager, very proud of the fans, and proud of the performance tonight, and in a strange way very, very proud of the result…

0-1 v Barca with 10 men and with 2 great chances to go ahead (at 0-0) !!!

Scott Brown selt’ the jerseys, and as soon as I seen the replay I knew he was off.

Crazy, crazy, decision by him !

…and I don’t blame the ref for one second… he was left without any choice.

  5. fanad, You can’t blame the substitutions for the defeat. Holding out for more then 30 minutes with 10 men against Barca was always a huge ask. Fresh legs were vital.

Missed your patter tonight but sickened at result again.

Shows how we have progressed sick at two defeats in cl to milan and barca.

    Celtic fc.. for ever..

  7. Proud of the lads tonight but football is being ruined by cheating, diving, conning call it what you will. Ballotelli the last game, Neymar tonight. Ballotelli penalty incident tonight. Sickening. And players like Broonie should know not to offer any opportunity, no matter how frustrated he gets.

We need to start hitting the net, but with the character we have, we’re not done yet.

  8. Just so the bored don’t get let off tonight, why didn’t we have soldiers at half time.

    That’s the benchmark .

  9. glendalystonsils on

Why the fuss about Naymar? Latins and South Americans have been doing that since for as long as my 60 odd years can remember.

All Broonie has to do is resist the petulant follow through and all Charlie has to do is get the header on target and we have 3 points instead of 0.

Naymar’s theatricals are a side issue.

Thank you sir. I am just trying to get my fellow cqners to keep some perspective. When you have had the terrible experience of sitting on a freezing Wednesday night and seeing Wayne Biggins come on as a sub you tend to see nights like tonight for the enthralling competition it is and enjoy them (well as much as you can enjoy a defeat that is).

  11. antipodean red on

Just back indoors from watching here in San Sebastián, while very disappointed, still immensely proud of the young Celtic team, crucial time in the game was the James Forrest shot and resulting corner that Charlie almost buried, last year these chances were put away, this year our luck was out. Still all to play for in the two Ajax games, pretty ordinary stuff in the sending off but as I said after watching Neymar last week, he goes to ground so easily and so often that you sometimes feel like giving him a hoof, if you’re going to get sent off for it, better take lessons from Tommy Gemmell if it’s a good old boot up the arse you’re thinking about!

  12. Eyes Wide Open on

    Hard luck.

We did the ugly stuff very well – we defended resolutely and refused to be pulled out of positions.

We made it very difficult for Barcelona to be, well, Barcelona – and there arent many teams that can do that and we’ve arguably done it 3 times in the last 13 months.

    BUT

Our composure on the ball is our downfall.

The basic 10 yard passes were the ones we couldnt get right.

Lustigs passing accuracy perhaps lowest of all.

    Brown – totally stupid.

we all knew the referee was a homer because his interpretation of what a foul actually constitutes makes scottish referees look competent – and that was both ways. At least 2 occasions he gave us fouls when Barca won the ball and he did it time and time again against us.

Every time we put a free kick into the box for goodness sake he blew up.

So why didnt our captain know he was making an unnecessary ‘risk’?

Couple of other things on the tactical decisions – I understand why Forrest was put on, Samaras was knackered and I dont think could have carried on being our out ball and we had no one else capable other than forrest.

However – why the hell put Pukki, the smallest man on the park (and that takes some doing vs Barca!) on up front for the last 5 when we hadnt played a ball to feet anywhere on the park for most of the night??

Surely for those 5 mins it would have been worth throwing on Balde – the one and only way you can dishevel Barca’s players is in the air – maybe the referee wouldnt have blown for a foul for one of them.

Pukki was the wrong man under the circumstances in my opinion

I know, but a kick on a player on the ground is a guaranteed red. He is our captain, the team needed him. I’m not going to dance on his grave, he has put heart and soul into Celtic, but he badly let us down tonight.

Let us talk of something positive, Fraser Foster, Those save were fantastic, world class. Our central defenders were immense.

Thing is, and I’ve brought it up here before, we tend to lose concentration towards the end of European games. Maybe a downside to playing in the SPL.

I think we can qualify, but we have to take chances up front. We need goals.

  15. “He should have known that someone with Neymar’s reputation would act like a sniper had shot him.”

You should realise that Neymar was ALREADY on the ground when Broonie kicked him…..nothing to do with snipers I’m afraid. Let’s get it right.

  16. Just home from the game and would like to thank Garcia Lorca and Gordon for getting me there.

Barca, as expected, were the superior team but we closed the gap on them well. Neil’s tactics, despite the disapproval of some voluble crowd experts, were correct yet again.

Brown’s red card was too far away for me to comment until I see it but, if it is as described, he will be as disappointed in himself as we can be with him.

Wonderful game from Sammi. Fraser Forster proved again what a very good keeper he is, despite being written off and listed to be punted. Izzy kept fairly good concentration and was not at fault for the defeat. Efe is now a confident dribbler rather than the bombscare the experts had him down for. Wee James showed again that pace and shooting accuracy will take you a long way in the modern game. Even Beram was involved in a good move which nearly got us a scoring chance near the end.

Maybe we can rehabilitate Boerigter and Balde now. Who is going to replace Scott in the vital Ajax games? Who has that energy?

We may need to put two players in there to replace him.

  17. well done all the hoops tonight

scott what were u doing ….captain of the club?

made it a hard night for the bhoys left on the field

the celtic support from start to finish

    fantastic

    done us proud

nearly done a pickpocket job on barca again

got to let them win the odd time;-))))

    highlights of the game

    the fans

    wee james shot

    charlies header

and big fraser with a string of saves

both ac and barca got that wee bit of luck

got to get a bit soon…celtic

if not then we have to remember a lot of this team are still learning

and have played limited euro games

would be intrested in some of the players stats if anyone has them

got to make the next 2 home game count to give us a chance

still good to be a tim

  18. Boab1888, agree brown should have walked over and took the yellow instead of walking away. It allowed barca and a French referee to change the yellow to a red. We all know that when Germany invaded France 1 million French waiter asked what you like in you coffee. Spineless French ref. Brown should never have given him the chance.

Celtic mature disciplined performance until the sending off. It was over then more or less. We need to regroup and learn from the first 2 games.

    – Forster great

    – Back 4 great

    – Middle to Front 6 needs a rethink especially with Brown out in Amsterdam. Kayal and Ledley would be my middle choice. Mulgrew on Left. Forrest on right. Pukki up top with Sammi in hole.

Would be ok with Europa League as would could go quite far and develop experience for the players and team.

Tonight is for perspective…unlike last week.

In South stand so didn’t see it but if brown kicked him he should be fined heavily by Celtic. One point = ? Celtic plc.

Not a great fan of F F but he saved us from a right tanking tonight!!! Cld have been 4 nil.

  21. Lenny defending Brown in CL press conference.

Condemn and fine more appropriate. IMHO of course.

Asked a belter of a question by a Spanish journo. That boy wouldn’t last in Scotland.

  22. gerrybhoy – you got it right there, a couple of breaks going against us, last season tony watt gets one chance and sticks it away, do hope we pick up some points though

  23. Not impressed with Barca.

1 dimensional team , totally boring with little cutting edge.

2 best chances of the game fell to us, Forest & Mulgrew.

All in all frustrated at nil points but still think we can do it.

Lump in the throat at HT.

Just as YNWA was being sung , our Miki 67 picture appeared on the big screen.

As I type this just heard the idiotic Spanish journalist asking Neil to apologise for Broonie !!!!!

Well done Neil , great answer.

All our players were tiring, but midfield was the place we should had swamped..Lenny IMO was hoping to win the game ,he should’ve been looking to tie the game up.plenty of time to gain points.

  26. Good news, had a lie down, still a Tim !

Whatever Broon’s shortcomings tonight, we really do lack a striker who puts the fear of God into any defence. I know, I know, we don’t have squillions to spend. However, Stokes doesn’t cut the mustard at this level. He tries, he runs, he has attributes no doubt, but hey, he doesn’t have the skill and prowess of a Larsson or the strength and savvy of a Sutton.

We must surely be looking to one of the two other strikers, Pukki and Balde, to step up to the plate

  27. well played celtic

    hard luck

but what the f**k made brown kick neymar in the back

even it was only a tap,

    he knows neymar will overreact

he will still get booked and possibly sent off

brown needs to hold his head and not do stupid things

he is vital part of the team

    well done frazer forster

  28. Didn’t get a good view of Broonies dimissal but from what has been posted it would seem he got a straight red for violent conduct.

That would be a three game ban in the SPL, what length of ban can Broonie expect in the champions league?

  29. Celtic have been playing against latin teams as long as I can remember and those teams have always been cuter than us when it comes to falling down, rolling over, play acting etc, Scotty gave the ref the opportunity and he gladly took it, he was a card happy wee shite anyway and also inconsistent.

The most annoying thingwhen you have a player red carded is that we will never know how we would have fared, I thought we were getting into the game just as Broonie got sent off, he’ll look at it later and see what he did so I don’t see any point of me crucifying him on here.

Had wee Jamesy scored it would have been a very different game, these are the cruellest of fine lines in fitbaw..

We played pretty well considering the gap in class and funding between us and Barca, replicating last seasons run was always going to be a big ask but a victory in the next game changes the whole scenario.

    It ain’t over till it’s over…

  30. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Brown you are a grade one muppet. Disappointed that Neil is defending him (and blaming Charlie). Samaras should be given the captain’s armband. Gave everything tonight. Didn’t deserve to be on the losing team. Absolutely sick.

  31. ach come on noo …twas a braw performance ….aye.. Braw …wid hiv been funny if that wee thing with James and the Charles had come off ..what what ,,still 12 points oot there ….COYBIG …

We can’t week in week out complain about SPL refs not giving protection to our players then saying things like Neymar wouldn’t hack it in Scotland.

  33. Crowd tonight were immense.

Even on 90 minutes they were belting it out.

    Jorges Barnet

Seriously, Scott Brown maybe thought nobody would see it! He could not seriously think he could kick a player on the ground at the point of action with cameras up the wazoo and the game being the main feature on Sports Channels everywhere. It was THE game on tv in the States.
