Never heard that song before, thank you.

    Couple of wee miners stories.

During the strike the miners leaders asked the trade union movement to call a one day general strike to show support for them.

I sat at a shop stewards committee meeting who were having a vote to put the resolution to the workforce. The committee had 19 shop stewards and a full time convener on it. I proposed to support the one day strike and my proposal got a seconder. The committee put it to the vote, the convener did note vote but the result was 17 to 2 against the proposal.

That’s 17 elected T&G shop stewards voting against a day of action in support of the miners. How could you call yourself a trade unionist let alone a trade union rep and vote NOT to support the miners. Remember these people had sat in their living rooms watching the police brutality being visited on fellow trade unionists at the behest of an extemely uncaring and unforgiving tory government led by a sociopath.

By the way the seconder and only other vote to support the miners was my own brother.

On a lighter note whilst on holiday in Corfu one year a family from England were living in the same digs as us. We only exchanged the odd hello and good morning greetings.

Then one night at dinner the head of the family a great big fella with shoulders like an ox and a massive swathe of grey hair appeared wearing a tshirt with the words “thatcher rot in hell” printed on it. AsI passed his table I tapped him on the shoulder and said ” that would be to good for that b*****d”. The ice was broken and they turned out to be fine company.

I don’t recognise what was said in your post as the version of two years ago.

That version puts DD in an entirely different light and since neither can be taken as known fact, but earlier version comes from a good source, I think it serves no purpose in discussing at this point.

When Res12 has wound it’s twist and turny course is the time for lesson learning and there are many at many levels for many people.

  3. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Ha there’s two “things” being mentioned on CQN, this fine snowy morning.

The path to enlightenment………..forgiveness. And Izal.

What one have you tried ?

  4. TOILET PAPER

Late 68 saw the toilets at my Uni becoming a locus for political satire . Somebody was in the habit of replacing the bog issue Izal style stuff with sheets of similar style bearing the image of Enoch Powell and the words — Enoch Says Colour Me Brown . Went on for months and then stopped .

  5. Three are some interesting position being taken I suspect in an attempt to change the mood music.

Now we are seeing posters, including auldheid, talking about forgiveness and spiritual health. In the SFAs dictionary this is called “not raking over the coals”.

I think we are now moving into the final phase and the sfa, Scottish government and Celtic have nearly ensured that the wanton corruption is firmly swept under Scotland s racist rug.

Now one of the guys who led res12 is making excuses for Celtic and calling for fogiveness in vague tones. We are being told it’s good for your health to move on.

It’s utterly fascinating for me to see what CQN has become and how those who sought justice with res12 are now leading the charge to allow it all to dissipate.

What was that clash song about he who has relations with nuns later joining the church?

  6. BCW nah nothing to say about that.

But maybe Paul could have an article about how Celtic are helping Lewis Morgan learn how to cut his toenails?

  7. Will be interesting to see if John McGinn plays for Hibs today. Etims still maintaining it’s a done deal he’s signing for us, if true then surely they won’t cup tie him.

Like Hendry’s ‘illness’ that kept him out of Dundee cup tie yesterday.

  9. Bit of ticket advice sought,

just bought tickets on line for the Zenit game,

do i collect them from the ticket office?

    i have a reference number

  10. 50 shades of green on

    Gordybhoy.

Should be a date telling you when they will be sent out to you ( you will have to sign for them), unless you specifically asked to collect them at the ticket office.

  11. A couple of posters have mentioned that we should be complimented for the `effort` involved in going to see Celtic whilst the weather is less than beautiful.

The day I find it `an effort` to go and watch Celtic will coincide with the day I stop going .

I really enjoy going to Celtic Park and, in cold conditions, I wear warm clothes.

Thanks for the compliment but it really is undeserved.

  12. An Indian walks into a corner shop in Glasgow and asks the shopkeeper for some toilet paper.

“What brand do you want?” says the shopkeeper.

    “What brands do you have?”

“Well, we have Kleenex,” says the shopkeeper.

“How much is that?” asks the Indian.

    “£2.00 a roll.”

“That’s too expensive,” says the Indian.

“Well, we have Wondersoft, that’s £1.40 a roll.”

“That’s still too expensive,” replies the Indian.

“The last one we have, then, is the no-name brand. It’s 20 pence a roll.”

“That’s perfect,” says the Indian, “I’ll take it.”

The next day the Indian comes back into the shop and says to the shopkeeper, “I know the name of that no-name brand toilet paper.“

“What?! How do you know the name of the no-name brand?” says the shopkeeper.

“It’s called John Wayne,” says the Indian.

“How do you figure that?” asks the shopkeeper.

“Well,” says the Indian, “it’s rough and it’s tough and it don’t take no shit from no Indian.”

  13. 50 Shades,

never seen an option to get them posted,

all i paid extra was a £1.50 internet charge

  14. 50 shades of green on

    Gordybhoy.

Had a look at the tickets still on sale, but as I am on the home tickets scheme I can’t get to the final page.

When ordering tickets online previously I’ve had to pay an extra £7 along with the 1.50 Internet charge, to get them delivered, maybe phone the ticket office tomorrow to check , but as I said earlier they gave me a dispatch date.

100% agree with that , only time its an effort for me is climbing the last couple of sets of stairs, especially with awe they jumpers I had on yesterday:-)

  17. HS

That is very admirable, however for some the weather conditions are a major factor.

Especially when there are various weather warnings in place and the advice of the authorities over a period of days is only to travel if necessary.

The game yesterday was competitively priced and realistically the crowd would have been greater in less severe weather conditions.

Ps : Even following your own advice to wear warm clothing, I bet you were freezing. Respect .

    Q) Are you now, or have you ever been, in possession of snug-fitting, woven undergarments, commonly referred to as ” Thermals” while watching the Celtic?

“Scotland will travel across the Atlantic for two end of season fixtures, facing Peru in Lima on Tuesday, 29 May, then Mexico in Mexico City on Saturday, 2 June.”

I trust Brendan does not allow our players to be involved. We have 4 Champions League qualifiers from mid July and will need a break after (hopefully) the Scottish Cup Final.

Post season Internationals particularly friendlies are a waste of time and just tire players after a long season. Champions League is more important to the club.

  21. What a reply from NEGANON2 on 21ST JANUARY 2018 11:50 AM

    Bravo Sir.

Always good to ask questions and not take everyone’s word as gospel.

Isn’t it sad some within our support would rather remain silent than criticise our board publicly for a few scraps every now and again from them.

For everything they done over a 14 year period they got a £250,000 fine.

    Disgusting.

  22. EMBRAMIKE SAYS ” YER TEAM’S DEID…BEAT IT!”

Who the hell decided on those fixtures ? To fly to South America at the end of May early june is just utter madness, I certainly hope not one of our players is on that plane

We have to negotiate an extra Champions League qualifying tie

Scargill made one major mistake with the miners’ strike. He didn’t call a ballot,as legally required. Had he done so,he would almost definitely have won it,thus legitimising the strike. But he didn’t,because he disagreed with the legal requirement to do so. This allowed the Trades Union movement to deny solidarity.

One other error was flagging up the strike well in advance. Thatcher took a bloody nose in 81 when a strike was averted at the last minute. She had to cave in at the time because there were insufficient supplies at power stations to keep the lights on.

She remembered the three-day week, and knew how it led to Heath’s downfall. And it wasn’t happening on her watch.

As a result, power stations had huge stockpiles, the lights stayed on,steel factories etc kept producing.

And,as you say,the Trades Union movement largely turned away. Shamefully.

In the long run,it would have been of more benefit to send miners underground to sit and do nothing than to wreak havoc on an industry and the communities it supported.

My brother worked for Glenshee Ski and gave me one of their jackets.Truly fantastic and I felt fine throughout the game. Also, the road from Arbroath to Glasgow was fine. The pavements around Celtic Park, however, where not and I would like to hear Glasgow Council`s words on why this was so.We did not have a full house but around 30,000 + were in those environs yesterday and it seems wrong that the pavements were untreated.

    Cheerio for now,

I have been waiting patiently for the “strip the titles” campaign to launch a full scale action against the systematic cheating that took place in Scottish football over the years. It appears to have gone very quiet over the last few months. Have I missed something?

CQN was rightly obsessed about what has transpired over the years. But reticent to non existent when it comes to examining Celtics role in all of this. The silence, inaction and collusion. The constant attacks on its own support to cow us. As the story has unfolded Paul clearly doesn’t want no coals raked over. Instead we get oweder puff nonsense about how Lewis Morgan should floss his teeth.

In the meantime we have auldheid trying to academically present the boards position on this. Presenting it as scientific and factual when it’s just a hypothesis. In the meantime he will denigrate anyone putting forward an alternative hypothesis.

CQN still has the strap line not lazy journalism. It’s not even journalism. It’s simply propaganda.

Auldheid, and others, have now proposed forgiveness as the way forward. It’s a remarkable turnaround but now a clear strategy to attempt to shame people into accepting the position because if you don’t it will make you I’ll.

I believe that auldheid frequents all the other Celtic sites so no doubt this message will be getting propagated.

So what happened along the road auldheid? From pushing res12 to the board you are now proposing we all forget all about it for the good of our mental health.

    As you say disgusting.
