    RRC,

    Happy birthday bro,

you get to be the same age as me for a week again,…….good innit’.

  3. Celtic have had no joy all season with corners from Mulgrew. Last week at Firhill, Charlie was missing, so Izzy took the first corner and bang! Samaras heads it home.

Today, back to Mulgrew and again nothing.

Do we not learn from the obvious?

Of course trying to break down a packed defense is a great leveler.

But when your system and tactics facilitate this then we can’t complain.

Our ponderous sideways and backwards passing combined with our poor forward movement gives opponents plenty of time to pack and set defensively.

  6. Kojo

totally agree with you on your pick of those who were poor today..couldnt understand why he took young balde off when you know balls are going to be crossed more in the last 10 mins..vvd ends up front late on and boerigter and lustic on to cross balls into a front line with no areal threat.commons is a loss at the moment which shows up our midfield lacks ideas hh

Charlie is also one of our better players in the air, as the goal today proved, so he should be in the middle. Leave the corners to the wide players.

  8. My biggest disappointment today was in our captain.

He did not seem to be interested and was rarely involved in the game.

In front of goal he was only interested in the sideways pass to the man on the wing, rather than attempt a shot or an inside pass.

Scott does have the ability to be much more influential in a game.

Was he disappointed at losing his appeal and missing out in Amsterdam?

Or was it just one of those days when the game passed him by?

  9. Ricksen to tell all about a rangers orgy, exclusively in tomorrows Sun.

    The mind truly boggles.

  10. Just in from the game and just read this page of comments.

Apart from the usual stirrers and some OTT stuff, most of the points have already been made and made with balance by CQN posters.

We were a bit lacking in sharpness, especially in the final third.

We did not do much with the headers we won.

The possession play can be overdone. It is a good thing in itself to keep possession and make their defence run but, too often, the brave players (Mulgrew & Brown), who attempted to break possession play with a riskier pass or dribble, were off form with their passing.

    We missed Kris Commons today.

United, like Thistle, produced an open game and created the clearer chances. We were the better team overall but not in the final third.

Both teams today were suited to counter-attacking but only one gets to be allowed to play that style at CP.

The team was unbalanced when Jamesie moved to the left to accommodate Boerigter but I understand why the sub was made with the bigger picture in mind.

Darnel was unlucky to be sacrificed at half-time because of their very good goal.

We are unbeaten after the first quarter having made our best league start in a decade. That’ll do nicely for me.

We turned a possible 0 points into 1 with a gutsy late equaliser.

P.S. we do not need an NFL or Rugby idea of an offensive/forwards coach, especially when proposed by the serially wrong. Football is a fluid game and you cannot compartmentalise the coaching apart from some isolated drills.

  11. Neil Lennon says UEFA have ended Celtic’s Champions League dream. Apart from virtually throwing in the towel, he is effectively saying Scott Brown ended Celtic’s Champions League dream.

Sometimes I wish Neil would haud eez weesht!

  12. kayal33

I think it was more to give Lustig a wee run out to make sure he had some playing time before Wednesday.

  13. Tom McG@18.04

You may be guilty of swallowing tabloid headings there.

    WHat Neil actually said:-

And when asked if Brown’s absence for these two crucial games could be the difference between qualifying and not, Lennon said:

“Absolutely. Scott is a huge player for us and we are going to miss him.”

“It’s another two games without him now and Ajax away is pivotal.

“We are prepared for it but it’s still hugely disappointing.”

“It’s a shame because he has been playing out of this world. So for him to miss these games is a blow to him more than anyone – and a blow to us.

“If we can get something in Amsterdam we give ourselves a great chance for the last two games. But if we lose then qualifying might be beyond us.

“If we come back with a point or even better three then it sets Milan up to be something quite special.”

So no definitive forecast that the suspension ends anything, merely a recognition that it hurts us and that he rates his captain.

Tom, you should be too long in the tooth to accept a view that has been processed by the press. React to what Neil says, by all means, but not to what you have been told he says.

  14. Remember leaving a wet and cold Celtic Park in 1985 (maybe ’86?) with my Dad. Miserable. Dundee United had hammered us 3-0. Don’t now why but that game stuck in my brain like few others. Perhaps the first defeat I’d seen (I was only a young fella at the time) at Celtic Park for my beloved Celtic??? Perhaps one of only two times I have ever watched a game from the ‘main’ stand as I used to call it? Don’t know. But I always think of it when we play DUFC.

Also remember some great wins against them. The 1985 cup final being one and probably the best, ’88 too of course. Never paid in to either! Hoopy days!

  15. Tom I am a season ticket holder so I will be back. But every now ans again I buy tickets for my family. They like to go and I am doing my bit. But celtic wont go yhe extra mile so why sjpuld I?

Celtic were awful today. Not just my view -my familiys too.

  16. NatKnow - Supporting Wee Oscar on

Sittin having a beer after the game. We seemed to be devoid of ideas in the final third. First time at Paradise for a while though so enjoyed the occasion. Saw the Kano Foundation flag – well done guys! Currently sitting in The Social at Exchange Sq if any CQNers fancy a pint! It’s wet.

  17. Back from CP and have not read back, can well imagine

    what’s been said……….poor performance today,thought

only Izzy and big Virgil did themselves justice, did not

notice contract rebel Joe Ledley until he got the hook,

DU were more than worth their point…..broke from midfield

with pace and always looked a threat.

  18. Just in from the game and not read back.

I enjoyed the game, Dundee United are a decent outfit and played well to Jackie’s game plan.

VVD, enjoy him while we can.

    Chas saved the weekend.

Did anyone mention we require a goal scoring striker?

Looking forward to the Ajax match,

    FF

    Lustig Efe VVD Izzy

    James Kayal KC Chas Sammi

    Stokes

With Joe16, Derk B and Pukki to feature at some point.

Take a draw now but will want a win come Wednesday.

In the dark days pre Stein, I used to come home on a Saturday night and say I wasn’t going back. Come the following Saturday my mother had the scarf ironed and ready.

    It’s ingrained.

  21. SFTB –

    You’re right.

That’s twice in two days I have taken a headline at face value when it bears no relation to the article.

I am guilty of being lazy in that respect.

    Thanks for putting me right.

It’s 4:15am here so maybe I need my bed.

    Goodnight and Hail Hail.

  22. @Robert Tressell. Ha Killie does that for me

  23. In North London in a stadium devoid of atmosphere Arsenal lead Liverpool 1-0 at half time.

I can guarentee you that Celtic will be awful again in the future. If you and your family can’t del with that, probably best you stay away.

    Middle of a bad run,bud.

Gubbed 3-1 at Pittidrie the week before, and the following week got hammered 3-0 at Ibrox.

We do not win every game we play.

    Tough.

  26. Gg I know it is. I will be back but im buggered if I will pay closw to 100 quid extra to bring others when they wont just buy a devent striker.

SFTB – we might not need a specific forwards coach but some attention to Amilios heading technique won’t go amiss – he could have had a hat trick today had this side of his game been better- HH
