Celtic have had no joy all season with corners from Mulgrew. Last week at Firhill, Charlie was missing, so Izzy took the first corner and bang! Samaras heads it home.

Of course trying to break down a packed defense is a great leveler.
But when your system and tactics facilitate this then we can’t complain.
Our ponderous sideways and backwards passing combined with our poor forward movement gives opponents plenty of time to pack and set defensively.

Charlie is also one of our better players in the air, as the goal today proved, so he should be in the middle. Leave the corners to the wide players.

My biggest disappointment today was in our captain.
He did not seem to be interested and was rarely involved in the game.
In front of goal he was only interested in the sideways pass to the man on the wing, rather than attempt a shot or an inside pass.
Scott does have the ability to be much more influential in a game.
Was he disappointed at losing his appeal and missing out in Amsterdam?
Or was it just one of those days when the game passed him by?

Ricksen to tell all about a rangers orgy, exclusively in tomorrows Sun.
Just in from the game and just read this page of comments.
Apart from the usual stirrers and some OTT stuff, most of the points have already been made and made with balance by CQN posters.
We were a bit lacking in sharpness, especially in the final third.
We did not do much with the headers we won.
The possession play can be overdone. It is a good thing in itself to keep possession and make their defence run but, too often, the brave players (Mulgrew & Brown), who attempted to break possession play with a riskier pass or dribble, were off form with their passing.
We missed Kris Commons today.
United, like Thistle, produced an open game and created the clearer chances. We were the better team overall but not in the final third.
Both teams today were suited to counter-attacking but only one gets to be allowed to play that style at CP.
The team was unbalanced when Jamesie moved to the left to accommodate Boerigter but I understand why the sub was made with the bigger picture in mind.
Darnel was unlucky to be sacrificed at half-time because of their very good goal.
We are unbeaten after the first quarter having made our best league start in a decade. That’ll do nicely for me.
We turned a possible 0 points into 1 with a gutsy late equaliser.
P.S. we do not need an NFL or Rugby idea of an offensive/forwards coach, especially when proposed by the serially wrong. Football is a fluid game and you cannot compartmentalise the coaching apart from some isolated drills.

Was Fisher taken off due to injury?? Thought he was having a fine game.
Neil Lennon says UEFA have ended Celtic’s Champions League dream. Apart from virtually throwing in the towel, he is effectively saying Scott Brown ended Celtic’s Champions League dream.
You may be guilty of swallowing tabloid headings there.
WHat Neil actually said:-
And when asked if Brown’s absence for these two crucial games could be the difference between qualifying and not, Lennon said:
“Absolutely. Scott is a huge player for us and we are going to miss him.”
“It’s another two games without him now and Ajax away is pivotal.
“We are prepared for it but it’s still hugely disappointing.”
“It’s a shame because he has been playing out of this world. So for him to miss these games is a blow to him more than anyone – and a blow to us.
“If we can get something in Amsterdam we give ourselves a great chance for the last two games. But if we lose then qualifying might be beyond us.
“If we come back with a point or even better three then it sets Milan up to be something quite special.”
So no definitive forecast that the suspension ends anything, merely a recognition that it hurts us and that he rates his captain.
Tom, you should be too long in the tooth to accept a view that has been processed by the press. React to what Neil says, by all means, but not to what you have been told he says.
Remember leaving a wet and cold Celtic Park in 1985 (maybe ’86?) with my Dad. Miserable. Dundee United had hammered us 3-0. Don’t now why but that game stuck in my brain like few others. Perhaps the first defeat I’d seen (I was only a young fella at the time) at Celtic Park for my beloved Celtic??? Perhaps one of only two times I have ever watched a game from the ‘main’ stand as I used to call it? Don’t know. But I always think of it when we play DUFC.
Also remember some great wins against them. The 1985 cup final being one and probably the best, ’88 too of course. Never paid in to either! Hoopy days!
