So where did The Rangers – indeed any version of that club/ company/ cabal – manage to find eleven ladies?

your 100% right about lack of competition in Scottish football. if sevco get into the premiership they will be more competitive than other teams and so long as our league is so small i.e. 12 teams (with 4 x games against each other), we will continue to see uncompetitive football. having 2 teams challenging for the league title for the last 3 decades is not competitive and has put every other clubs in critical condition.

I would increase size of premiership to 18 team top flight

euro places guaranteed for top 2

euro play-offs for team from 3 to 6

    Safety for 7 to 12

    relegation play-offs 13 to 16

    relegation for bottom 2

teams play each other 2 x per season in domestic calendar, allowing bigger clubs i.e. aberdeen, hibs, hearts and Dundee united to pick up more points and be more consistent due to having several teams that are poorer than them (reduces cut throat at present). Still, the gap would be no greater than that between celtic and Dundee united for example

more victories for these clubs = belief = more supporters through the gates = better atmosphere = more money from punters = more interest from t.v. etc… = more money.

derbies become far more meaningful due to only a couple being played in the league per season. Yet a bigger league may actually lead to more derbies with team such as Dundee, st Johnson, Hamilton, Falkirk and raith rovers, Dunfermline etc… being involved. playoffs work, punters respond and get to the games and t.v. audiences like playoffs

my war cry is that the % of t.v. income, league sponsorship etc… should be share fairer and I would also have negotiations of play-off t.v. deals separated to ensure clubs that participate are rewarded, increases income for the clubs that enter them i.e. aberdeen, sevco, hibs and hearts etc… and makes them more competitive with more money in the bank at the end of each season.

footballs about scoring goals so i’d be changing rules to make a score draw a 2 pointer rather than a one pointer (reward attacking football) and I would think we would see a much closer league title than what we have at present.

i’d also like to see away clubs being rewarded for bringing crowds to celtic park, so introducing a 50% cash back scheme for clubs visiting all games attended by 30,000+ would hopefully encourage better numbers, atmosphere and income for all clubs

celtic and rangers (oldco/ sevco) contributed greatly, if not entirely, to the demise of Scottish football by trying to create a monopoly while club chairmen just saw the green stuff when t.v came calling. inho we at celtic have the power to transform the landscape of Scottish football so that our league has 3, 4 or 5 teams challenging for the title ever season, we would still win most of them, but in a thriving footballing environment

A serious of disasters resulted in me only getting into the Kerrydale Bar shortly before it closed. Billy No’Well had the same problem as you.

I had a quick pint in the bar of The Oak before the game.

BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS forza Oscar and Mackenzie:

I met your Dad very briefly before the game yesterday. Hope to see him in the bar of The Oak sometime soon for a bit longer.

Thanks to Burghbhoy for meeting-up with me to pass a ticket on for a mate of mine to go to the game.

My girlfriend was supposed to go to the Paul Larkin book launch last night. She was ill and couldn’t make it. I went with a spare ticket. Shame because it was a cracking night. Bampots everywhere.

Who did make it and met up CQNers before the game yesterday? Did anybody other than martybhoy59 make it?

  8. Can’t see us signing a striker in January. We have Stokes, Pukki, Samaras & Balde. Two are only in the door 5 minutes, one has just signed a contract extension and the other is in talks to sign a contract extension. The 4 we have will be given the season to settle, form partnerships etc..

We should be looking to sign a player who can create chances for our strikers. If we do, he does and they still don’t score then we know they’re not good enough.

We will probably sign a back up left back and centre half.

I bumped into Timmy Mallet literally at Euston Station.

Coming out of the park yesterday I saw a face I recognised. Thought it was a CQNer. He asked if I made it home from the funeral ok. I then told him I didn’t. That I had met George Ryan’s son in the toilet just before I had to go for my last train home and we started talking but couldn’t tell him that I should be rushing off for my train home. This resulted in a very late drinking session (that I can’t post about on a public forum) and I ended up staying with a guy I just met that night (Thanks Hotdog! Stop lurking).

The guy said it was the best funeral ever. I understood what he meant by that.

The guy was George Ryan’s son Chris.

  12. Just finished watching highlights of Celtic v Leeds. What was striking (oops) was how balanced the Celtic player’s celebrations were after each goal. Of course they were joyful. However they were not going crazy. I guess they just knew how good they were. Moreover they expected to defeat Leeds.

  13. stephbhoy @ 16.47 hrs.

Very interesting and obviously well thought out. Food for thought for all associated with Scottish football. This deserves a wider audience.

The status quo in the medium to long term is clearly not sustainable.

    HH, Always in Celtic.

  14. Stein I just mentioned him because of mallet. That was good for my theme of whackiness. Using Tyson added to the punfest. Deconstructing comedy just like Stewart Lee.

  15. Has this Bilel Moshni fellow replaced Jim Traynor as Minister For Silly Statements at NuRangers?

Every time I glance at a Daily Record or Sunday Mail I read about how he would love to play in the CL with NuRangers or draw Celtic in the Cup or that NuRangers are going to land a man on the moon……..

To be fair he is actually better than Traynor. But only slightly less irritating.

I’ve said on here before,as a five-year veteran of the site, that I am surprised by some of the posters who have gravitated from happyclapper to mineshafter in that time.

Two years ago,Tesco had the world at its feet, and a loyal and subservient customer base. It took one botched Christmas where they were deliberately uncompetitive to ruin that.

As Celtic fans,we don’t have the option of Morrisons or Asda. But an increasing number are voting with their absence and dissension.

    ———————————-

Spot on mate, as usual. A mate of mine was a shift manager at Morrisons in Ayr. He told me that the area manager and shop manager operated a strictly no Tims policy. Don’t know if it’s still the same as he left. Asda, no for me and we have no chance of a Waitrose around here. Even less chance since that Micktt moved into town ;-)

  24. Stein, he is into some terrific music. Richard Youngs being one of his favourites. Youngs, an Englishman who lives in Glasgow, once gave a lot of praise to a Jock Stein biography. Terrific musician and perhaps a Tim.

I know the boy Lee is a big Fall fan – pretty sure he was into The Smiths as well. Can’t say I know anything about Richard Youngs.

  28. Right that’s the deputy (dog) been walked

Final thought on game yesterday, and corners was not only problem

Jackie won hands down tactically here.

2 men on halfway line, meant we had 3 plus keeper back in own half to cover

We then had the man taking corner, a player either around 10 yard mark or edge of box.

This left us with 5 players in or around box to DU 9.

Fair odds for DU to snuff out our options.

Why now when we have a corner, and yes we have not lost a goal, do we need our 11 players in our box ? Pulling them on top of us.

Not as if we have pace to break out

Just another observation, on where we could improve, in my opinion

Still over the moon to be a Bhoy though
