Very true, its far easier to play through a high press when you are confident in the pitch. And in your keeper playing the ball to feet. Its going to be interesting seeing how the nest three months work with Ddv between the sticks

  2. GORDON64 on 30TH JANUARY 2018 10:48 PM

The next time Broonie wants to slow the game down he should tell the rest of the team. It might save him giving any more goals away. Just a thought. Hh

    ——

He should have done better but Jozo put him in a position with a risky pass and it was a great finish unfortunately.

  3. Here I sit sodden panted

I don’t think it was helping Scott that he kept getting on the start sheet without producing. He will know after tonight that he won’t force anyone out of tonight’s starting eleven and that might focus his mind.

  5. not long in from game, best first 45 mins this season, have been calling for EK to get a start for ages , what a game he had, brought out the best in SB who was allowed to move further forward.

Also impressed with link up play from OE, he looked a much better player playing slightly drawn back than an out and out striker.

that laughferty is a bad un.

  6. fergusslayedtheblues on

great stuff from the bhoys tonight 3 going on 8

I totally agree regards Thompson an absolute disgrace of a man

Someone posted hertz had 29 fouls tonight ,I think their number 11 committed 20 of them on his own ,only to finally be booked in the last mins of the game IIRC .

As for Laffatme ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I certainly did

  7. Great performance tonight, especially the first half. We looked unplayable at times. Second half was a bit worrying, in the sense that you could see Zenit really exploiting some of our slackness. But overall, great stuff.

  8. Gordon64 – Good observation. I would hazard a guess that 7 black players in one team is the most ever for a Scottish team? And with Sevco probably playing a similar number of Catholics these days, you would need to be a real cynic not to acknowledge that giant steps have been made in the last few years to eradicate racism/bigotry from the team sheets at least. The knuckle draggers still sing their songs over there, but at least colour and creed are no longer a consideration by those buying the players and picking the teams and that is something to be celebrated.

I was at Celtic Park for the Mark Walters banana game. I cried with shame. Now vast majority of fans are oblivious to colour.

Remarkable social change in just a few short years.

Maybe we are not doomed as a nation after all.

The future is bright, the future is green and white.

  9. Tonight was classic game management from Thomson. Let Hearts foul with impunity, pull our players up for their first offence.

Reffed properly I doubt Hearts would have had 11 left on the park.

  10. BR pulled a flanker on Hearts with his line up and Tynecastle still on his mind, we witnessed a change of format that surprised Hearts all the way till half time and the 3-0 to the good ghuys score line.

In the freezing cold it was almost unbearable to watch never mind play and although Celtic Park hosted a fine crowd it began to melt away with still 15 -20 on the clock as fans bolted away into the night trying to get ahead of the biting freezing rain.

It was Eboue Kouassi in a central role that crunched into the tackles missing during Gorgie’s freaky result, and although Scott Brown took his almost obligatory stadium gong, it was the £3M Ivorian that coasted through the

match and earned the fans plaudits.

Tierney, Edouard, Dembele, Ntcham, Ajer and even Boyata rained in on Hearts in relentless sweeps with the visitors still trying to find their hammers, this was pay back time, big time. Edouard was slotted through to open the scoring and Celtic never looked back when Boyata was put clear for two nil aggregate scores

flashed through the mind. Moussa prodded home Keiran’s ’s cross, and it was game over.

The second half seemed to prompt a drop in gear but we still missed a hatful of chances that could have made the scoreline more reflective of Celtic’s winter break and a resultant form resurgence that would scare even the smartest bear.

Not a single failure in all 14 that graced the bitter cold night in Parkhead, Robbie Keane and Craig Bellamy didn’t come close to wee cheerie Charlie’s astonishing welcome to Paradise.

    M.O.M Eboue Kouassi

  11. Absolutely delighted with the 3 points in what looked like a tricky game. The first half was up there with Aberdeen away as the best effort this season, we blew them away.

Kouassi, Brown and Oli bossed the midfield in a relentless and classy fashion. Moussa was much better and Edouard and Jamesy put a real shift in. Ajer was classy as was Boyata, Jozo was solid enough apart from a couple of slack passes. DDV was redundant. A mention for KT who i think doesn’t get the credit he deserves because he is so good all of the time. He is amazing, his energy, work rate and desire is never in question. If he was a new player we would be lauding him. Charly showed a couple a flashes but the best is yet to come, the past few days will have been tiring. He needs time to settle and get to know his team mates and familiarise himself.

Credit again to Brendan for mixing things up tactically. Hearts tried to repeat the tactics of last month but this time we matched them physically, moved the ball quicker and annihilated the space they left in behind as they pushed up the pitch.

They deserved nothing, and it should have been 6 or 7.

    MotM – KT

I’d a chat with Pat Bonnar on flight back from Dublin, told me he seldom watches Celtic nowadays, and usually gets all his opinion from CQN.

  13. glendalystonsils on

    DENIABHOY

A good point about the attitude now to black players. Can you imagine though if a large section of the Celtic support sang anti-black songs or made animal noises tonight?

That is how Sevco’s catholic players must feel when their own fans pour out that bile.

  14. glendalystonsils on

    BSR

An excellent match report as ever.

But for one small detail……….there are NO smart bears.

  15. Regarding Packy Bonnar, his outward Celticness hides the truth——“A. Man may smile and smile and be a villain.”

False bonhomie and charm don’t count when you lay yourself bare on media.

  16. G64- Ntcham is as gallus as they come, superb footballer, you won’t see him nudged off the ball often, he’s only a wean, 21 years old

  17. It’s been a bit hard going of late but that first half reminds us of why we support the greatest football team ever. Hh

  18. Shocked by that performance, 3-0 at half time, barely acceptable.

3-1 at full time and we see a crisis emerge again, within a few years of the last one at CP.

What happened to the Money Money?

The mismanagement is astonishing, gone are the days when we went generations from crisis to crisis.

    Now it is mere decades!!!!!!!!!!!

Soon it will be years, ffs, I dread to think of the suffering.

A retractable roof would sort that.

A retractable roof would be nice, however I think we’ll need to settle for a big coat, bunnet and gloves.

  20. The whole team looked yards quicker, and sharper of mind tonight.Thomshun must be close to retiring age, a cheat. All we are looking is for rules to be applied evenly, shouldn’t be that difficult…..eh…

  21. One thing Kouassi did that’s been missing from our game recently was make himself available for an outlet pass.

He then showed great composure to brush opponents off and advanced the ball.

In the first 15 minutes he Ntcham and Boyata constantly beat Hearts high press with great movement and quick passing.

The amount of times KT is subjected to vicious tackles is becoming ridiculous.

He is clearly being targeted by opponents who know how lenient the refs are.

Tonight he was subjected to another knee high studs up challenge that escaped a booking.

Brendan and Celtic should put a video compilation and highlight this.

Also i keep saying it but Ntcham is a gem whoever scouted him should get a bonus.

Again JF had a strong game .

The much maligned Boyata was excellent and could have deserved man of match award.

Young Ajer was very good but has to learn not to overcommit. He did it tonight in the second and they got to byline whereas if he had just held position they had nowhere to go.

Great game of football against a dirty opponent.

  22. Bada ON is an outstanding player. Imo he’s a far better prospect the VW. He will likely be gone in the summer. Hh

  23. 50 shades of green on

Dont the huns have 11 black hearts in their team every week…..

Tonight I thought the North stand ass ref was an out an out cheat.

Pass marks for everyone in hoops and the one who wasn’t, and to the fans, I moan about having to climb somewhere in the region of 3mill stairs to get to my seat, but at least when I finally get there its dry:-) ..

By the way the North stand ass ref was an out an out cheat.

Had a wee look back I see the grumpys are missing tonight:-)

    H.H

  24. Hearts had a bad night, made Cellic look good :-)))))

Dae ah git away wi the kiddy on smiley things ? :-)))))

Nah seriously, I was pointed in the direction of a link to Celtic Tv, and it worked well, save me trailing over to my bros bit in the morning, I put a link on here once, a few weeks ago and within days, the fellas website got pulled so, that’ll be the last time that I let my guard doon on here :-))))))

Somebody said earlier about the amount of black players that were playing, at times it was like the green and white minstrels, was waiting for Al Jolson coming onto the pitch wi a mic at half time, serenading the oul Jungle hit “I’d walk a million miles, for one of your goals, ohhh Ceee, eeeeltiiiiiic!”

Anywye, guid victory, guid performance, guid crowd, not a full house but, considering the night it was well done to all who were lucky enough to be there, another game that sent the reminder that Broony is getting auld, guid tae here Murdo and Gerry wi thur Cellic heids on, they keep the tone real, nane ae this sycophantic Tom Boyd Celtic View brainwashing pish.

Charly looks classy, hope he’s made of teak like Sinky, guid luck tae the young fella.

    And as usual,……..

    Sack The Colluding Board!

    Where’s awe the money ?

Don’t wait tae the ship sails and then ask questions!

    Guid luck Celts….HH

    ……oot.

  25. What is the Stars on

I rarely listen to Radio Scotland (I presume thats Packie’s station) so I don’t get to be offended by him on a regular basis.

He has obvioulsy said stuff that upsets people on here but “false bonhomie ” ?

Seems a bit harsh. It didnt seem like false bonhomie to me…but sure what would I know.

I probably suffer from post colonial self loathing

  26. G64- buzzing after tonight’s game, the Bhoys have had a heavy schedule last 18 months, and looked leggy and tired before the break.Tonight we were full of movement and energy, Killie will be a tough game but canny wait.HH

  27. Gordon64,

    agree with you about Ntcham,

a fantastic player,he will go for millions,

hopefully not in the near future

  28. What is the Stars on
