  1. Fast football, dominant midfield, sturdy defence and great goals are all very well.

But were out throw-ins any good?

  2. Good morning, friends. Still buzzin’ from last night.

Wee light powdering of snow in EK this morning. if only I had a forthcoming week in Tenerife to be looking forward to (3 more sleeps ;-) )

  3. Man City bid £55m for Mahrez, a left sided attacker. Put in a cheeky bid in for Paddy, they bought Mendy in summer, who plays there too….

  4. What is the Stars on

    We still need a scapegoat…..and a proper throw in taker…and a goalkeeper..a centre half…a right back… a playmaker and…..

Don’t forget the headed knock down by our big imposing target mhan…..wee Jamesie!

WITS – Doris made a single poor clearance. There you go…..

I had to watch it twice to prove to myself it was indeed wee Jamesy, cracking team performance.

We needed it though to lift the support and the players themselves in the bleak midwinter!

    Bring on the Killie!

I just didn’t want that 1st half to end.

Superbamundo. Pace and passing the ball in front of the man in space. Or deftly to his feet when marked.

    Midfield was awesome.

I missed the first half, hoping to track down a link for the re-run somewhere today:))

Good to see Kouassi come in and do a job, he’s had a tough start to his Celtic career but hopefully we can see now what he’s made of, really liked the look of him last night.

Always good to put Craig Latrine in his place:))

  9. Kouassi monstered that midfield along with Ollie and Broonie.

Beautiful blend of physicality and skilled control.

Hope you find the 1st half. I’d release it as a DVD!

  10. What is the Stars on

First half last night was superb.

Boyata is the best natural finisher at the club.

Lets try the Griff at Centre half and Koussai in goal

  11. For anyone at the game;

    Broony on Cochrane?

    Legit?

    Heavy tackle?

Not had a definitive summary of what happened…. only the Shortbread and Levein not so veiled insinuations.

    Geez the lowdown……

  12. Marrakesh Express on

Really impressed by the boy Kouassi. He seems to float effortlessly across the pitch, covering a lot of ground. Reads the game well and doesnt hesitate to go in where it hurts. I can see big bids for him and Ntcham within two years.

A word on JF. He’s became a bit of an unsung hero in my view. Another challenge in front of him now Charly’s here.

Final word for Scott Brown. If this guy doesnt win POTY its an insult to the intelligence.

  13. Twists n turns

We’re in 416. From our seats it looked a very heavy challenge, ankle or shin, and even if it was only marginally a booking you just know that, because it’s Broonie and Thomson, it’s gonna be a booking. Sure, he was laying down a marker, but equally there’s an argument that it was a challenge that, let’s say, didn’t need to be quite so robust.

That said, if a Hearts player had done it, it wouldn’t have been a yellow. As evidence of that argument, see multiple challenges on KT throughout the game.

  14. MARRAKESH EXPRESS on 31ST JANUARY 2018 9:49 AM

Indeed bud. I’m sure I read somewhere that not only has he not won that award, he’s never had POTM?

    That can’t be true surely?

  15. Marrakesh Express on

I thought Walker was pretty much uncatchable in the ex-Celt anti-Celtic stakes.

Bonner is coming up strongly on the rails.

  16. Twists n turns

Sorry, I thought you were referring to Broonie’s yellow!

On Cochrane, nothing to see there. The players tangled and I think Broonie fell on Cochrane while Cochrane was in an awkward position. Didn’t look like any malice to me. Equally, no holding back – from either of them. Broonie came out on top.

Levein’s words were sleekit, as we’ve come to expect.

  17. Fieldofdrams

Thanks for that. Michael Stewart suggested that Broony had caused the damage through the way he landed on Harry C, but he did say he only thought that might be the case?

  18. Celtic were excellent last night. Hopefully, more good news today. We are so lucky to have attracted BR, long may he continue.

  19. 50 shades of green on

Broonie on Cochrane, they both went for the ball, both fell with Broonie landing on top of him, no foul given ( Broonie already on a yellow and Thompshun was the mib), Broonie gets him and runs away to set up another attack, leaving hertz player on the deck and Craig latrine with his comments for the media.

F all in it, it was a case of wee boy against big Bhoy and big Bhoy won.

Think we will see last night’s successful 3-5-2 system become our preferred set up.

Last night the ‘5’ had two wing back roles, KT on the left and JF on the right. If we sign another CH it will be any 3 from 5 at the back. We won’t necessarily need another RB. If we need a 4 then KT can drop back at LB .

Kouassi bossed the defensive mid and should be a starter. He allows Broony to impose and power forward along with Olivier who is a powerhouse with a huge engine.

Up front will be any 2 from 3 and then we have Paddy , Sincy, Charly and eventually Lewsi as ‘wing’ options.

What’s not to like. May be a few stumbles along the way but persevere – it’s the way forward.

  22. Just met someone I know who showed me a brilliant photo from last night. In the directors box I believe.

It was Broonie being presented with his man of the match award from the lovely Minx.

Thankfully Hamilton Tim not in the photo, (so photo wasn’t spoiled) no doubt he was away talking to his fab Celt. Peachy Lawwell. :-))

Looked more of a 4-2-3-1 when not in possession (Ajer as a conventional RB and Edouard in Sinclair’s left side role) which switched to a 3-4-1-2 when in possession (KT/Forrest wide and Ntcham behind Dembele/Edouard partnership). Worked a treat. Ajer was superb as right back/right centre back and Edouard looks more comfortable facing goal than with his back to it.

As you said, the midfield three dominated and that should be the three to play Zenit in a fortnight.

  24. Last night -watched in the cold light of dawn -way down south .

Excellent first half , not so excellent second half ..Game was won but giving that lot a serious hiding would have given me much pleasure .

    Very good in midfield .

Looked sharper , faster and much less prone to dithering , passing the ball sidewards /backwards . Belief , focus ,desire and energy .

Hearts were dire . Offered nothing but grunt ,grind and an agricultural approach .

The Hun With The Whistle gave a perfect illustration of that one set of rules for Team A and another for Team B thing .

That said , I would have given Scott Brown a Red Card for that tackle .

A tube / choob . A tube is a hollow vessel . When Glaswegian me calls someone a Tube ,I’m conveying the opinion that he/ she is hollow inside . A shell .

His listed narrative highlighting what has happened then and since is pretty much spot on and well worth those with less time to read the background details having a look.

The genesis of the same club myth where the 5 Way mis-used a change in the rules in 2005 to enable SFA to sanction Romanov, can be read in Birth of a Monster Myth on CQN Mag at

    https://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/neil-doncaster-and-the-birth-of-monster-myths/

it is near the end of a long article (because of detail).

The “owner” of a club separate from the club is a construct foisted on Scottish football as part of a tawdry deal to sell what was clearly just a basket of assets without it, to Charles Green.

In trying to “save” Scottish football and its commercial value as they saw it, they trampled sporting integrity into the dust and used the LNS Commission to drive the steam roller.

    =======================

I think one of the things to come out of last night was the importance of putting away chances.

We did that with aplomb first half and the early goal set the seal on the first half performance.

Demble was a bit unlucky with the ball bounce that meant half or missed connection but over all chance taking was good first half.

Second half by contrast was poor, but not the performance creating them and had we taken two of three or four of second half chances it would have been what a performance with Hearts sent home tail between their legs.

I have been banging the 3-4-3 drum for a few weeks now and I’m convinced this will be the preferred shape for the next 12 months etc but i’m sorry your analysis of last night is not correct.

Kris Ajer played as an orthodox right back last night in a 4-3-2-1
