Really. Standing still while turning a profit is fine. Except we are going backwards. Sure it is all about reviving the scottish product. Which is a dead duck. So why bother ? Why protect the most corrupt part if UEFA namely the SFA.

So why adhere slavishly to turning a profit if that means us falling out of the public eye within football realms. I believe it is because we have bankers, bean counters and dis interested neo liberal billionaires steering the ship.

If Celtic do not have an effective prescence in Europe, which we should be capable of then we will diminish even further. Btw mainly due to the Campbell Ogilvie designed UEFA coefficient system.

You know I would be more convinced by the present incumbents if they occassionally made a loss and took some risk.

Ajax’s european lulls tend to last about 5 years Eight times longer than ours.

16 months into Ronnys reign and the plan looks wayward. We are poorer than when he started and every man and his dug knows that Nir Bitton will be next years sale to turn a profit and wevwill win 5 in a row.

The uninterested bilderberg billionaire will get the call that we won the league made a profit and the new old firm deals are in place. Wgat about my bonus ?

All will be well in Celtica. Meanwhile the rest of the world i e Basle, Fenerbahche, Malmo et al pull away from us while we gaze at our shoes ….awaiting the return if the Old Firm. Ogilvie job done…brown envelopes …and a return to the only idea that these charlatans have.

Yesterday CQNers flocked to the corner and dispensed with over £350 of their hard earned cash buying badges and cufflinks all in aid of a wee baby and a young family, they have never met and unlikely will. Many more from all over the world will also send their cash for the same. Now tell me whether you should think again about what you said.

    “The ball on the ground”

Low hard crosses as I read in Bobby lennoxs’s book, is the most awkward ball to clear from defence, from the horses mouth (as I asked him) :) he latched on to plenty of them.

The high floating balls frustrates me, especially as we have no target man…yet!

    ———————————————————————————————————-

I agree on the cross ball comment. We had an incredible number of crosses into the box yesterday, which were usually headed by a Hearts player.

I actually enjoyed the game yesterday despite the obvious disappointment of not scoring nor winning. Maybe Carlton Cole will be banging them in soon.

Also thought there was a great atmosphere yesterday, best we’ve had in league yet.

  13. Game of two halves — at least we did not lose a goal right at the death.

Played some good football in the first half.

TR and his dancing feet brought some progress through the middle.

JF looked in the mood although he could have linked better with EI.

Only downside was KC and his wastefulness.

Slipper shots followed by MvB Euro 88 style Hollywood efforts.

Consequently was pleased with the performance come half time but wiser heads in the company were worried about the lack of a goal.

Second half TR starts to tire as the mistimed, shin high tackles become more frequent.

Then the stodgy really starts to flow and the predictability start to grate.

NC — threat to U.S. Last season.

Now totally lost and no use in our current system.

    Big issues ahead.

    Anybody going to Molde?

Me and 3 other Oslo Tims’ flight gets into Molde at 09.35am on match day, which is a worry as it is a bit early to start drinking.

Bit of sightseeing might be in order before arriving in a bar round about teatime, 5-ish.

Our return to Oslo is 6am the Friday morning, so a few beers after the game and a taxi to the airport at chucking-out time, whenever that may be, is the plan.

Be pleased to meet up with any Tims making the trip.

  16. Here’s what I don’t get with Forrest. Hertz have got players on yellows. He doesn’t try running at them. Neither does he try running into the box but continues running round the edges.

He has all the talent but none of the brains.

“James should run at them the rest of the game, alas he didn’t. ”

Who, then, was that James Forrest lookalike who continued to be fouled by Hearts defenders in the course of running at them?

  21. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

Perhaps because he was knocked over, fairly according to the referee, before he reached those `right places`.

  22. JJHS – time and again he chose to run from the corner of the box across the front instead of trying to get in.

See if he did…see if the defender had been carrying a machete..see if the ref

had a red card in his pocket ,it still wouldn’t have been brandished (unless Broony

    made his first tackle)

  24. Weeminger

Disagree with you. I thought Forrest ran at them all day long but was fouled with impunity.

  25. Weeron,

Dissapointing on how you feel about the CQN Coarner Bhoys and Ghirls

“Meanwhile the rest of the world i e Basle, Fenerbahche, Malmo et al pull away from us”

    Are those the benchmarks then?

A Swiss Team (Population 8m, National Team ranking 20th -were Top 10 this year). When we were rediscovering European credibility in the 21st century, so were Basel. In 2002- they were in the Interto final. In 2003 when we were proud of reaching a UEFA Cup final, they were surpassing that by making it out of CL group stages, 2006- EUFA Cup Q-F, 2012- last 16 of CL again and repeated that in 2015. They have 3 CL last 16s in recent years- the same as us (theirs are more recent, mind). However, all I remember was that the teams that achieved our last 16 CL were each described as the worst Celtic team ever and as purveyors of turgid, boring football with no Plan B, favourite players selected, and tactical naivety being evidenced every time a match was lost or drawn. The song remains the same whether we are seeing good or bad Celtic teams.

A Turkish team ( population 78 million) who were banned from Euro competition for match fixing and had restrictions on number of foreign players lifted, have forked out big money for Van Persie and Nani from Man U, the Brazilian Sousa, Kjaer from Lille, and a goalie and defender from Porto. They have speculated to accumulate for sure and questions are being asked if they can afford it.

On their 5th attempt at CL Group stage, they got into the last 16 and made it as far as the Q-F that year. They have been in CL groups on 6 occasions altogether and only got out once (they did make a Europa semi-final in 2013, to be fair). They are not clearly better than us yet but they have spent bigger and achieved………. a 3:1 defeat at home to the Norwegian 4th seeds.

Malmo (population almost 10m, National team 36th in the rankings)- have qualified for two group stages of the CL- they have not and will not qualify out of these group stages- their record and ranking is weaker than ours.

with Celtic (population of 5m, National team ranking- 31st) who since 2000 have made 8 trips to CL group stages and qualified out of them on 3 occasions.

Only if you are measuring just the past two years, in isolation, is there a case for these teams having “left us behind”. Basel are the only team among them who have achieved more in Europe than us. Fenerbahce have only achieved a higher spending figure and Malmo- well you are having a laugh even thinking about them having achieved anything like we have.

  29. I did not see or follow the match commentary but like Aberdeen, I always thought that Hearts would be a potential banana skin. Neilson and Levein are a good combo and done their homework;they have set themselves for top 6, and know that any result vs Celtic is good for their following / finances. They done their homework knowing our injuries and that we have EL match on Thursday.

Aberdeen and Hearts are not the typical league opponents this year. Aberdeen kept their squad together and improved, while Hearts have amassed a mercenary team but appear to have a sound structure.

Because of EL, cup games and international matches combined with new players / injuries, I think that we will have to wait till New Year 2016 to see true Celtic for some sort of consistency in terms of tactics, team selection and results.

It’s going to be a long wait
