Have to say that I was shocked at the price of 2 bottles of Magners in the Kerrydale Suite after the match yesterday: £9.80 – absolute rip-off. It is a great facility, but Celtic need to have a serious look at the prices, otherwise it will be empty pretty soon.

Morning CQN,
Thought Celtic were fortunate to be playing ICT yesterday. They are a steadily improving, well-organised team and arguably the closest you will get to a european-style 2-leg challenge in the league.
Good practice for wednesday. They defend in depth, keep themselves ‘compact’, and when they break they get half the team up the park in support very rapidly.
They even did Celtic a turn by scoring from a long flat throw in to the box a la Shakhter, Rory Delap et al. Apologies for stating the obvious but every team Celtic play this season will now be planning to use this tactic until FF plus 4 demonstrate they have developed a strategy to nullify it.
Refreshing to see the difference Rogic and Balde made to Celtic’s play – Rogic happy to commit men in a central area, find a through ball, have a shot himself. Rogic will be desperate to have a big breakthrough season to get himself in the WC squad. Really looking forward to seeing him develop. Balde already showing signs of rapid improvement, some really excellent moments of work from him.
Seems NL is looking to play in a different way with these guys – Rogic and Balde have the guile and strength to commit men in static defences and midfields. A different approach to last season seemed evident to me, anyway.
So the pessimist in me thinks Celtic 2013-14 will be more incisive, creative and ‘better to watch’, but will they have completed the transition in time for wednesday night?
Still think Celtic can progress, but will need maybe 5 goals…

One other issue — when will the full year accounts be released?
I’m fairly confident Celtic will win on Wednesday by the required margin, even having witnessed the yesterday’s draw.
If the tie doesn’t go Celtic’s way, positives of non CL participation will be appear from nowhere.
I don’t think the board are too concerned, and life as a Pot 4 side isn’t a bed of roses, we’ll see the treble as our priorities and a ‘good run’ in the Europa as essential.

It’s not pukki who is the problem it’s our policy of not investing in quality and continually looking to save money which in the case of upfront this policy has cost us a fortune
Neg. very true we need a proven goal scorer not a project
=================================================
I would love a proven goalscorer. Which ones do you suggest we go out and get?
I know it’s the scouts job to identify such players but the problem we have is that if someone is banging goals in at a lower level they may not be good enough, they will already have been looked at by at least a few other big clubs, they will cost money and wages that we don’t have.
So, we have to do a bit of scouring, a bit of bartering, a bit of waiting I suppose.
Tell me this when Gary Hooper arrived from Scunthorpe had you heard of him? Were you sure about him? Did you think he was Scott McDonald lite? Must confess I wasn’t convinced. Turns out I (and a whole lot of other Celtic supporters) were wrong. HE was a goalscorer. Yet he wasn’t Leo Messi or even Chris Sutton. He couldn’t lead the line on his own as well as we would like in European away games.
Point is we have until the end of next week. Judgements can be made then – and even then we’ll all have different views on where we are. Although if we sign no one I will be joining in with the grumpy old gits (and younger ones too)
Pretty sad that posters traduce a striker before his plane has arrived in Glasgow what happened to the days, they waited till they’d seen him, in the warm up.

Agree re ICT. Thought Rogic played very well and Balde too, in patches. The latter, though, needs to get some local acclimatisation such that he is not bullied off the ball. The referee gave him only one free-kick in the whole match, because his angles were straight on rather than from the side (sorry, ex-referee). Matthews also played well but that was about it for me.
Easy Tooting way too much sense in there, agree Rogic looks like a player who can turn defences, Neil knows we can’t go on the way we’ve been playing and a change is in the offing, will take time of course, CL qualifiers are putting a huge pressure on everyone so early in the season..

If you’re built like frank Bruno you need to be more self assertive than frank spencer.
I remember a time when a new signing would be given a reasonable time to settle into the team. Then along came t’internet and FM experts would be slating players if they weren’t performing at their best by the end of their debut game. We have now gone a stage further and the self proclaimed experts are now slating potential new signings before they even sign and stand holding up top with their name on it.
