  1. By close of play this afternoon, the target was to keep the pressure on the sheep, whatever might have happened had their game gone ahead.

So, happy enough, and thanks for the updates, including the ‘moany’ ones, which are surely inevitable when, as has been said, the performance ain’t that good, and which do not affect the players, as some, inexplicably, appear to think.

    Hail Hail!

  2. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

    3points 3 goals 3 young guns on..

Aye- that’ll do nicely. Nob reason why these 3 shouldn’t start a game soon..

  3. mike in toronto on

that last 20 minutes was among the most enjoyable this season … hope we keep the same 11 for next game, and pick up where we left off …

am off to the Scuba diving expo … so, hope you all enjoy your evening.

  4. A much better second half and much more enjoyable to watch. The difference was that Bitton began to play and dominate in the second half thereby giving those in front of him more time. Too many times he is too lethargic, but in the second half he showed his class.

  5. So now Ronnie is a clown because he didn’t make the changes quicker.

What has this guy have to do?

  6. Great 3 points against a tough well-drilled team. Thankfully wee Leigh got straight back up during the 1st half, as we have nae back-up, up front.

We’re very reliant on the wee guy, he delivered again today.

  7. MIKE IN TORONTO on 20TH FEBRUARY 2016 5:01 PM

CG …. MOM candidate as I think the game swung on his save.

GMS had a pretty good game, but still think we looked more cohesive as a unit after the subs.

As ICT were pretty much a beaten team by the last quarter, there is still a question of how that attacking four will defend … our mid 2 definitely need cover… but, I`m prepared to give them a shot at a start and lets see how they do!

If we have an attacking four which strikes fear into defenders then the opposition attackers will take less risks when hitting us on the break.

If what we saw here is a glimpse of whats to come then i believe we will be in for an excellent run in to the campaign

Bring back the fear factor, you bring back the….

    Thunder!

  8. Professor Green on

Superb 2nd half after a worrying first half where we looked lethargic and static. I felt sorry for Boyata when he seemed to have to thread it through the eye of a needle to find a team mate every time he was in possession. No movement in the midfield whatsoever.

Different story in the 2nd half particularly after the introduction of Christie and Allan. Their movement and energy seemed to open up ICT in dangerous areas.

Looking forward to seeing more of young Roberts who seems to ghost by players with ease, dare I say it Messi like. Hope At least one of the subs, if not all three start the next game

  9. lennon's passion on

Scott Allan is a good wee footballer. Hope he gets his chance soon. His reverse pass to KT was quality.

  10. Hunderbirds are Gone on

I think our issues are all mental, rather than physical. It certainly sounded like a bi-polar performance today. Crippled by fear, and unable to play when the pressure is on, and free-flowing and expansive when we have the confidence that leading the game gives us.

If we are sticking with Ronny, we should get shot of JC, Who in many ways is too similar to RD, in the sense that they both have a studious approach to the game, and get somebody in who can impart a bit of heart and dig. Plus, unlike KevJungle, I cannae stand him. Arrogant.

  11. GreeninbingleyinOslo on

    Couldn’t see the game today.

Delighted with the result and by all accounts the performances of the Three Amigos when they came on.

Also pleased for GMS who sounds like he is coming back to a bit of form.

Well done Bhoys, well done Rhonny and thanks for the updates from the CQN updaters, even the ones at half time ;)

    HH and on we go.

  12. 6 points and 32 goals ahead of the wooly bullys, should be pleasant reading until next Friday as the predictable “heated driveways”, “bonuses” and “absentee landlords” will be posted missing.

  13. What have we learned today. Griff is invaluable to us. Once more God Bless Kieran Tierney, what a Bhoy.

I think Allan & Christie represent the future, I’d like to see them start next time out. Paddy Roberts looks a real ball player, maybe not start him next day but I’d like to see him maybe start 2nd half.

First half woeful, second much better, last 20 minutes brilliant, kept a clean sheet but gave ICT 3 or 4 great chances, happy but not ecstatic, too many issues evident out there for that.

Finally I may be in a minority of one but I thought Boyata did extremely well today.

My MOM, Griffallo just edging KT.

  14. Imo referee today was blatant. Although no nasty fouls by ICT there were a couple of persistent offenders, not least roberts, and ref did not even speak to them. Christie was also upended twice without the offender being spoken to.

Sviatchenko was, however, booked at first opportunity!!!!!!!!

HUNDERBIRDS ARE GONE on 20TH FEBRUARY 2016 5:17 PM

I think our issues are all mental… Crippled by fear…

    —————————-

    Agree.

Someone posted that some of the support were booing the team off at half time. If that is the case it is no surprise that fear has become a factor in our play.

  16. Corkcelt

I agree with you on Boyata. And Roberts can play at this level no bother. I wonder where this leaves James Forrest.

  17. Saint Stivs says SACK THE BOARD on

predictable “heated driveways”, “bonuses” and “absentee landlords” will be posted missing.

still here, win lose or draw.

nothing changes, lawell is paid too much for the job he does, he sets his own bonus, and the landlord is indeed absent,

    so , sack the board.

on the park, that was a good 2nd half. i would like to see Allan and Christie start the next game.

Griff , when not being greedy, is a very good link player, can be a clever passer off the ball.

    oh, ronny ronny, ,

  18. Very poor first half .A better team than ICT would have taken advantage of that

.Improved a lot in the second half…Very poor Refereeing ..

  19. Saint Stivs says SACK THE BOARD on

    meanwhile,

as the pressure cranks up on the russ abott lookalike that is Warburton m he has moved on to new excuses.

after , the scandals that are decreasing the width of the pitch, and using a platic one, he is now complaining that its unfair that the rangers are allways put in the away dressing rooms at other grounds, which is a challenge, but i aint complaing, but it didnt happen in england, and why cant rangers take their own goal nets to away games, as its an unfair advantage to the other team to use the ones they practice with.

    next week,

scottish championship footballs are not round enough, and it would be a great innovation if teams were awarded an extra point for every penalty scored.

    football guru right enough.

  20. Match Report is up now. Today’s photos and post match chat to follow.

No Izzy, Efe or Jamesie in the team or on the bench today. Kris was on the bench but wasn’t brought on as Ronny introduced the Quality Street Gang.

    Times they are a changing.

  21. Tontine Tim – Here Here

Against Hamilton play team that finished today with Mulgrew replacing Biton.

First-half was worse than last week – we could/should have been 2-0 down at HT.

Armstrong and Johansen need a couple of weeks off – replace them on bench with Forrest and McGregor.

  22. Delighted with the Win………….

  25. Good News next month

Mark Warburton calls for Animals to be removed from fields everywhere. Mark claims 2its not faie they get to play on grass & Sevco don’t”

  26. Just back from CP through some cold and driving rain.

It’s hard to call a 3:0 win a stolen game but it was closer to it than I would like. ICT were clearly the better team in the first half and had a gilt-edged chance, when Craig Gordon did his best Packie Bonner, sailing out to fail to connect with a punch, impression and they should have scored. A clear one on one with Craig Gordon in the second half should also have given us another counter to have to overcome but, by this time, Craig had recovered from his early nerves.

The crowd were nervous and critical again. This time it was the repeat errors of Boyata in the opening minutes and the excellent pressing of the ICT team that caused the nerves.

Quality told in the 2nd half and we were first to strike but only Leigh’s opener, worked by himself out of nothing, set the team and the crowd to more ease.

MOTM was Tierney but GMS looked a bit more lively and Broony was always available to help out a disjointed midfield that found space difficult to come by.

Apart from the early nerves of Boyata and Gordon, nobody had a stinker but Stuart Armstrong, who is a good lad and a good player, is not showing signs of coming out of his form slump and should really be rested. The three midfield subs, particularly Roberts and Christie all did enough against an ICT who were tiring and recognising it was not their day, to deserve a chance in Stuart’s place and let Stuart fight his way back to form.

Fair play to John Hughes who committed 3 ICT players to prevent Celtic playing out from the back and still had enough to restrict space for our front 4 to receive the ball. His team also played the new ref well with some sneaky pushes and late bumps off the ball. It was hard to see why this ref was fast tracked to SPFL level ( or maybe not) but he was not the main cause of our issues in the first half.

Grateful and happy that we are 6 points and 32 goals clear at the top. Hope to get to see the Hamilton game, which is rarely a spectacle and then a home game against Dundee. 6 points there and the Dons should start to get a bit discouraged

  27. “Tell us about your experiences of the top flight, Mark.

Are you hoping to one day get some?”

Questions you won’t hear at a Sevco presser.

“Gers boss wants 3G pitches out of Top flight”

*why, his team isnae in the top flight, and might no be next season especially if they finish 2nd and play kilmasonic in the playoffs who will be a bit like m’well after they got rid of the mullet.

  29. I think we’ve turned a wee corner and are coming out of the dark depths of winter, like Celtic usually do, onwards to sunny spring days and we’ve so many players to choose from and plenty to look forward to under Ronny Deila.

The Kris Ajer signing was nicely timed this week, and another mark of Celtic’s total dominance in Scotland where our financial clout decimates allcomers, despite the naysayers and stay awayers.

Today was just another day at the office where we dealt with a well organised physical side, and won by methodically processing most of the chances, and taking three.

The contrast in this game after Ronny had committed all three younger players was marked, and we know he won’t, but the side that finished the game should go straight in as the next starting eleven.

Most Celtic fans would settle for that.

That said, the first half was dire, and even drew text from very reserved but knowledgeable corners of the ground. Inverness were playing the Yogi game to a tee, industrial but sprinkled with passing football and they should have scored on the break.

Boyata, Sviatchenko, Lustig all toiled whilst being under protected by one paced Bitton and a lethargic Scott Brown. Stuart Armstrong won’t hold down a place in the side after another insipid performance and hook, and although GMS scored a good goal and offers that threat over James Forrest, his lack off physique comes under heavy scrutiny in the SPL battles.

Celtic won comfortably in the end, Scott Allan and Ryan Christie did more with their time on the pitch than others have in weeks. Patrick Roberts showed that dip of the shoulder that leaves men in his wake, and Griffiths Offside scored two trademark goals, one with good, and one with not so good peg.

    Happy Days.
