That wee left-back with the Irish sounding surname, a wonder has Martin O’Neill made someone research his family tree.

International football isn’t really of much interest to me, however I’d love to see Kieran Tierney representing Ireland.

Not until after the Euros though, obviously the players that got Ireland there in the first place, deserve their trip to France in June.

I think Kieran can also play for England, Wales or N. I. having been born in Isle of Man.

    Auldheid,

A bit confused here, I thought the review panel were under the instructions of the SPFL and the sFA were the appelate body, that lawyers response has confused me completely when he advises he represents the SFA ?

    Whose inquiery was that ?

    ==========

It wasn’t the LNS Commission it was the Judicial Panel that set out a number of charges against Craig Whyte as evidence he brought the game into disrepute.

Quite how and why the failure to include the wee tax case evasion was not included is a bit of a mystery given that CW stands indicted on a similar charge in court now.

The wtc to football is the “don’t mention the war” fallacy of Fawlty Towers. A sceptic might think the SFA did not want to share just how the wtc was not paid right before you got nosey and moved Res12. lol.

    Auldheid,

Cheers for clearing that up for me, I had it in my head they were talking about the LNS tribunal.

This is a big week, come on the taxman :)

    Chuffed with that win

5 years ago today we hammered a disintegrating oldco – where’s that time gone, so much money spent, so many court cases, somany rules broken

aye, Bobby, but you buggered off, didn1t you ;-)

  10. Good evening bhoys, I didn’t see the game today but I’m enjoying the win, I always like to just enjoy the win.

I’m looking for some help from any Rome aficionados who might be on the blog tonight. I’m taking my 15 year old daughter to Rome on March 9 for a week. Just got the flights booked thus far so if anybody could give advice on any of the following it would be greatly appreciated: hotels, apartments, must sees, damp squibs, good squid, areas to avoid, day trips to other places.

I’d rather not pay a great deal on digs and use my money for good food and vino:)

  11. I do wonder if RD has a more strategical perspective than the support in his selections?

I didn’t fancy the midfield last week before the game and even though I welcomed the same team taking the park for the first time this season this week, I had the same reservation even allowing for last week’s win.

ICT out passed and out muscled us first half with light weights GMS SJ and SA not coping half as well as the bantam at the back wee Tierney.

Yet none of them hid and last week GMS came on to a game and whilst he got knocked about rotten today, apart from his goal, he was less effective than last.

Last week SA was poor but created the second and SJ, whilst not anywhere near form of last year never stopped trying.

The same “weak” midfield as last week still managed to give us a 2 goal cushion but at least this week RD gave other footballers who on their day are as good as those playing on their day a chance and I liked what I saw.

Perhaps “on their day” is where players really develop and RD has a strategy of developing across the board on the day?

Based on last 2 games I’d replace SA,SJ and GMS but only one from the three and in that order with Allan, Christie and Roberts in that order taking their if the game allows as it unfolds.

I’m not making excuses or suggesting my reasoning is right, I’m opening up the debate to thinking other than RD is a dud we must replace.

At least he is seeing the value of a settled selection now. That imo is all he had to do to call off the dogs of war, but strategies by their very nature take time to come to maturity and time needs patience and whilst I’ve plenty of that it is noticeable by its absence when we drop points.

  12. 67Heaven .. CHALLENGING THE LIE ..I am wee Oscar...... Ipox belongs to the creditors on

Why don’t all the halftime booers just stay in the house, sit in a wee corner and shout at the dug!

  13. Hi went along today to watch my football team – hoping they would win

    They did

    Er ….that’s it hh

  14. The Sun came oot at the start of the 2nd half today

And that wasn’t just with Jobo coming up to sit beside us :-)

I’ve said before, like to look of young Ryan Christie as a footballer

    Delighted with end result

Now not trying to be negative, Ronny you need to learn to coach out the constant gaps our team leaves in defence, we should have been 2 down before we got the breakthrough, this is due to the structure you have us playing and been the same now for 18months, sort that, and we will all be feeling much much better through games

  16. Canamalar

    Well said about GMS.

He made two vital blocks in our penalty area in the second half and put in a very good all round display capped with a smashing goal.

  17. Auldheid

Can you name a player that has developed into a better player under Ronny ?

I would give you you Griffiths only, ( discounting Tierney as breaking through from youths and only given a chance due to deterioration of Izzy )

  18. Dreadfully poor first half performance that was made even worse by an extremely lenient referee who allowed ICT to impose their greater physical presence with impunity.

Before the game I said that I wouldn’t be putting in the trio of Allen, Christie and Roberts but I would have started with one of them, preferably Roberts.

The second half was a massive improvement and although the game was pretty much won by the 11 who started, the introduction of the holy trinity meant that most of us headed home happy.

    Couple of points.

Boyata must learn to stop giving the ball away needlessly.

    Tierney is the real deal.

    Last two games….5-0.

3 points on Friday please Celtic.

  19. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi on

    Fine margins indeed!

We were fortunate to be level 0-0 at half time.

Thankfully we have a LG who can relieve the pressure and let us move on.

That doesn’t distract from the fact that we are a wayward, distracted bunch until we get our noses in front.

Today, it started off with 4 bad passes from Boyata in the first 90sec… and that set the tone for the next 20min or so.

SA, SJ and GMS doesn’t seem to work from the kick-off – one or all are OK to bring on as subs (albeit, well done to GMS for the first goal).

Ronny currently has 23 first team players fit and well in the squad – he is struggling to get the right combination.

Maybe we don’t have the right 23?

    Whatever — a great win today — 6 points clear :0)

  20. Auldheid,

I take the view that if your performance in games merits continued selection then you should stay in. Equally if it doesn’t you should be dropped. I like Ronny and i hope he works out in the long run, but i think he can be baffling in his selections. GMS and Armstrong haven’t merited a start for quite some time, and neither merits starting next week either in my view.

Which probably means both are guaranteed a place next Friday

  21. In the last 2 games against Ross County their managers have shown that doing your homework can work to an extent.

Both teams pushed players forward when Gordon had the ball at his feet. With our two full backs clearly told to push up on the wings it means that the 2 in the midfield need to be available to collect the ball from the two centre backs. In the first half today Brown and Bitton were often in positions that were too advanced. That led to Boyata and Eric struggling to the link the play.

Simple. Withdraw the full backs when in that situation. This will increase the options and provide cover of we lose possession.

    Some hints for Rome:

    1. There`s a guy lives there … apparently has a nice flat (argentinain fella, wears a funny hat ) …. give him a call … seems like an awfully big place for a single fella …maybe he could put you up ..

    Glad to be of assistance.

    :)

  24. OK I know I’m paranoid; it comes with the territory.

Not sure who the ref was today but when we had a free kick in shooting or crossing range he stepped out 9 steps for the CT defence.

Now I’m sure he has calibrated his steps and that is the correct distance.

However, anytime we defended a free kick he stepped out 10 steps. Something seemed to go wrong with his calibration.

One thing is certain; he was consistent. We always went back 10 and CT went back 9.

  25. A huge well done to the Green Brigade and the supporters of Motherwell, Hamilton and St Johnstone for their displays against the OBaF Act today.
