  1. TBJ says Wee Oscar Knox is in heaven with the angels on

    Two tams

Ict roberts was guilty of 5 late tackles in the first half alone … always when the celtic defender had played the ball into the ict area so ref played advantage but never brought him to book .

Start of the 2nd half he did it on erik and again ref played advantage but pulled him up when the ball went out of play. .. only to have a word with him .

Ref reacted to roberts girlie scream when erik tackled him and booked the celt … card was out as he ran towards erik .

Thought we got bullied first half with the trio of gms Joe and Stuart not up for the battle with nir doing his IDF impersonation as usual .

A bit better in the second half but night and day when the subs came on although it is easier coming on at 2-0 than 0-0

  2. Tontine Tim

I just think he needs to be careful what he wishes for. With the Reckless Financial Mis-Management that goes on at his Club he may well find himself playing on 3G pitches 34 times a year out the back of Leisure Centre’s in the Suburbs of Glasgow all Season long.

No longer will the Presstitutes be lauding loudly about his magic hat but more so singing in Choir (Oh the Horror) about the Magic Roundabout which he performs his Training Drills on.

  3. Craigellachie10 on

Woeful first half and lucky to be level. Second half much better even before the subs we seemed to be moving the ball a bit quicker. Excellent goals particularly the last one. Youngsters did great, 8 scots involved, Griff m o m for me, even if just for the tracking back in the first half. Young KT though starting to look like a seasoned pro.

As for Ref, I haven’t seen him before, I think we might see an awful lot of him in future. Didn’t put a foot wrong as far as his bosses will be concerned.

  4. Better second half, 3 Amigos looked ace. Ref terrible as normal for sfa refs. Ronnie changed it and it worked. But on the radio there said the change only scored one more goal and never won him the game. So he did well but didnt see what he did.

    KLV

  5. Dreadful in first half, much, much better in the second. Not sure why we can’t start games the way we started the second 45?

Subs all looked good, and, apart from one moment, thought Sviatchenko looks like a decent player – clever and aggressive.

Still don’t think we’d get past a decent Euro team, so not sure if Ronny is the man to take us forward.

Oh, and the ref was totally at it.

  6. Very lucky today. Two absolute sitters missed by ICT at 0-0. What was even more concerning was that (as per Scottish Cup semi final last year) on at least 3 occasions we were caught 1v1 at the back. Poor performances, loss of form etc can happen, but failing to learn from the most basic mistakes from the past is unacceptable.

In the end some clinical finishing gave us a 3-0 victory. Allan looked hungry when he came on and deserves a chance. Christie and Roberts likewise. Armstrong and Johansen both desperately poor, not even close to performing at the level that is required. Brown does not look anywhere near fit. Tierney again outstanding!

Happy with todays result but problems are ahead.

  7. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi on

A bit lost in the first half – you wonder sometimes if they train together…

No doubt that ITC are a decent team at the moment, full of confidence.

Thank goodness for a wee bit of inspiration from GMS then some clinical finishing from LG.

Last goal, I think, involved Roberts, Allan, Christie, and Griffs.

    Nice!!!

  8. The Battered Bunnet on

There’s always lots more to a game than can be captured in a post, but our first half performance needed only a handful of words in a text.

Second half started more brightly, but a too obvious GMS pass 30 yards from ICT’s goal allowed ICT to intercept, break beyond our only defender, and ought to have given them the lead.

Giffiths is starting to emerge. His first was clever, manufactured from his own wits, and gave us an advantage that was ill-deserved given the preceding 50-odd minutes of football.

Johansen and Armstrong offered little for the umpteenth time. I’m not giving up on Stuart, he’s a talented footballer, but he needs to find his game again.

Scott Allan, with one reverse pass to release Tierney, showed that he’s got more football in him than the two who are keeping him out of the side, although granted, there’s much more to the game than one trick.

Christie and Roberts brought us the sheer fun of the game. Each has a huge amount to learn yet, but what a contrast they provided to a first half that matched the weather for frigidity.

I clocked the time when Boyata misplaced his 4th pass of the afternoon. There was 1 minute and 18 seconds played. His skittishness seemed to be a symptom of a deeper issue with the Celtic team. So many going through the motions, so few wanting to play the game.

I don’t know what the future holds for Ronny Deila. It’s clear that the ideas he broughtto Celtic Park simply don’t work, and it’s been a long time watching on as no discernible progress has been made. Perhaps the ‘New Ronny’ game plan is built around real skill. We can’t pass our way round a packed defence, perhaps the new plan is to be able to beat them with sheer footballing magic.

We’ll see. I hope the second half of the second half today provided a glimpse of what’s in store. Time will tell.

  9. Similar to last week, we were awful in the first half. In particularly the midfield 5 who to a man were poor. We couldn’t have complained had ICT went to the interval in front.

Second half a lot better, Bitton turned up and started to dominate the midfield, although Brown and Johansen were still poor. GMS, like last week, a lot better in second half. When the three subs came on we actually looked like an entertaining team to watch. Yes they made errors but they did whilst trying a piece of skill or a difficult through pass.

Leigh Griffiths continues to keep Ronny Deila in a job. Hopefully the cavalry has arrived to assist and the last 20 minutes suggests they might have. I just hope the manager picks the creative footballers we have ahead of the underperforming midfielders who have let him down time and again this season.

  10. A few seasons from now & SPFL Clubs we be employing Bears for Celtic games.

Saturday comes, Celtic to play Ross County.

County Left Bearback lifts Leigh Griffiths up & tears his head aff.

Scott Brown runs to Referee to complain. The Ref Stops the Game

Scott: ffs Ref he just tore his bloody head off.

Ref: Aye, but bears do that when you get close to them; You really should try n keep away from them!

    Out comes the Yellow card

Ref: Brown aff. Yellow Card for time wasting & Red Card for Swearing.

Oh Aye & a Penalty for Sevco

  11. I’ve spent the last hour or so watching the celebration of the funeral mass for Justice Scalia from the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in DC.

Mass and homily from his son Fr Scalia and attended by his wife, 9 children and 36 grand kids as well as the Supreme Court and various dignitaries from Church and government.

We really do an impressive funeral service in an awesome location.

A good match report as usual. Ever thought about applying to the Herald for that vacant sportswriter job?

  13. Celtic have been using the absence of Rangers to get youth in and develop that talent. We have also used this time to take a gamble on a talented coach and develop his skills. This is the best time to do this and the lowest risk. As a result, we should see the likes of Tierney, Christie, Roberts, Allen, Rogic, Nesbitt, Janko flourish next season, especially if we surround them with a couple of more experienced players.

Armstrong looks heavy legged – not sure if its the training or the position but he looks a different player. I hope we see the best of him next season. Biton needs to release the ball sooner but in the first half he was given very little options from johansen and armstrong – was different when the young ones came on.

Good signs in the second half – maybe the plan is coming together!

  14. Totally agree.

Roberts must have caught Tierney late 3 times in 10 minutes in first half. Nothing

Last week Ross County player uses hand to block Gordon clearance foul no card

Couple of weeks ago Leigh blocks kick out with his back foul and lectured.

Semi against Ross County EFE makes no effort to touch player there was

    contact not denying it RED

Same ref ealrier in season deems hand round neck/shoulder a penalty

but no red against sheep on Leigh.

    Subtle but cheatin bar stewards

Imo referee today was blatant. Although no nasty fouls by ICT there were a couple of persistent offenders, not least roberts, and ref did not even speak to them. Christie was also upended twice without the offender being spoken to.

Sviatchenko was, however, booked at first opportunity!!!!!!!!

i was perusing super leighs goal scoring stats there, he is on a great streak.

its only 2 seasons since our last 32 goaler – kris commons.

however , have to go way back to Henriks last season for the last time before that.

that got me looking at other goalscorers.

    i like this quote –

“I actually broke down in tears of joy that night, the first time in all my years in the game that I had cried. What a thrill it was to see young boys like Murdoch, McNeill, Johnstone, Gemmell, Clark and Lennox coming of age. What a thrill it was to see the club I had served all my life reach its pinnacle. My one ambition now is to live long enough to shed some more tears into that magnificent European Cup.”

Well I told you all what the score would be at half time today. 3-0 and the Bhoys obliged. I was at the game but I’m still enjoying reading the insights from a number of posters who were also at the game. Very little to say about the first half which Caley dominated. Yogi knows how to set out a team and they try to play football on the deck.

We stepped up our pace in the second half and GMS and Leigh Griffiths took their chances well for the first two goals. I’m sure ICT must have been wondering how it all happened. They didn’t have the same edge to them and our subs got the crowd excited and played some great football. I think Scott Allan is a superb player and always excited when he gets the ball. He sees moves that others don’t. Ronny beds to find a way of including him in the team.

Not a great performance as was the case against Ross County but a wonderful result. Those who booed at half time should be ashamed. I see some people criticising Bitton and they are right. He is playing poorly at the moment but he is one of the best players we have and I’m sure he’ll get back to his best form soon. I can’t understand why a poster above needed to mention the IDF or what it has to do with Nir zBitton’s current form.

Anyway 3-0. You heard it here first.

  19. Back in and fed and watered (not that I needed the latter). Very happy with that result. Said to those around me that it would be a different game in the second half. The wind and rain had too much of an effect on the match. While ICT still have their hammer throwers, they do play neat football.

Roll on decent weather. I suggested to the mhan next to me after about 10 minutes that, if we get to the Cup Final, everyone who made the effort to get to the game today should be given a free ticket. We were all soaked to the skin before the game started.

  20. TBB

“ought to have given them the lead”.

    It didny.

ITC’s attacking player missed the target or Craig Gordon did what he’s paid to do and did.

If every goal scoring opportunity was actually scored you’d need an abacus!

    Been away for a week.

    Some things never change.

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

I still think when players are out of form they should be dropped, why else have such a big squad

  22. Much better second half, thought RD took the correct players off. GMS scored a good goal but that was all he contributed

Scott Allan must start against Hamilton

Don’t get the criticisms of ML, thought he had a decent game for 80 odd minutes then made a mistake.

The Referee was dreadful, this is the same every game, now is the time to tackle it Peter. I for one am fed up with it – it must affect the players. Thought Erik did well not to get sent off when chasing back one on one.

  23. There must be a laboratory in darkest Ayrshire that produces officious talentless referees to order for Lodge Hampden.

    Poor first half decent second.

  24. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

GMS played some great defensive football today, no many matched him for ground covered

  25. Celtic 3 but if Stuart Armstrong had scored with his three shots in the first half………………………….

Apart from the obvious-“I wish I’d said that”-what a quote.

    McGrory of Arsenal,not for him. A marvellous man,never a servant,for Celtic.

I met him once about 1970 and I still regret my disdain for a dapper wee fella in a brown suit,as I searched for my heroes instead of legends.

Mind,I was looking for legends too, just more recent ones.

  27. TheOriginalSadiesBhoy on

    BIG NAN

Who was the Hun ref? His failure to yellow card the player who made the shocking challenge from behind on Ryan Christie was appalling. He generally let ICT away with murder especially the guy who tackled young Tierney on a number of occasions just after Kieran had played the ball.
