  1. Please don’t blame OB for the result.

His chance was a lot more congested that it looked or the commentary suggested.

Lets start with the basics — corners, corners and more corners.

    Shocking performance.

An accident waiting to happen , I’m afraid. These last minute one goal wins are all very exciting but they mask deficiencies in our play which need to be addressed , and today was the day it tripped us up.

I lost count of the number of crosses which cleared everyone in the box by a distance.

  3. Crosses — very wasteful.

We seemed to be playing football by numbers.

Getting a cross in is seen as enough rather than the quality of the cross or what was achieved.

  4. I really hope Lawwell is actively pursuing options for the manager vacancy. I would hate to think we’re sitting in our hands waiting to appoint Neil Lennon.

Neil’s remit was to get us the league and he’s done that, however, the standard has been poor to average.

Neil’s Celtic May blow all away from here on in but I doubt it. Aberdeen next Sunday and a trip to Ibrox will be very difficult games for us given how we’re playing.

  5. This is not all NL’s fault.

BR let bad habits develop and they will take some shifting.

Next manager needs to be a step up from BR.

We have a lot of work to do.

  6. Is Paddy Roberts available in the summer? Shirley the 30 pieces of silver we received for Rodgers leaving would cover Paddy’s transfer fee? We need someone like Paddy to open a packed defense. That or Messi – is he available?

  7. Stuck in Englandshire so took in Brentford v Derby.

It was a 3-3 match as opposed to a 6 goal thriller. Defences were equally poor on both sides. Waghorn is still as useless but twice as heavy. Nae polis, beer!!!! And fans being treated like human beings by friendly and helpful stewards.

Spent the whole match checking the Tic score mind!

Oglach, check out this chap, who’s joining up shortly:

Certainly looks like what is required in the short clip as does young Bayo in the youtube vids of him playing. Sadly we have yet to see the young man play in the 1st team. I’ll reserve judgement on the Ukrainian bhoy until we see him in action In the hoops. With Paddy R we know what we would be signing. Sadly can’t see it happening.

  9. glendalystonsils on

If we had seen Timo on a bit earlier , that might have made a difference. Only might, mind you.

  10. Typical Lennon type game.

Keep it tight and hope your better players score.

To continue to play in a way that made success easy for opponents is baffling.

90% of balls going sideways or backwards allowing limited team to pull everyone back.

Only time we looked threatening was in the first when Jf ran at them diagonally.

He never tried it once in the second.

    Thunder or whimper?

  11. Rock Tree Bhoy on

14 points clear in the league, not good enough, cup semi next weekend, not good enough, League Cup already in the trophy cabinet, not good enough, a great bunch of lads trying their very best to give us success, not good enough, we want more and we want it now!

Not quite but it does seem like that on here sometimes…

  12. just in from game, thoughts , what kind of formation was that 3,6,1.

KT playing as a left winger, give us a break, play SS.

RC wastes more time at taking corners as their goalie takes at bye kicks, EVERY cross from corners or free kicks from us goes behind our players , why pack their goalmouth with players at corners and not have players on the edge of the box and also have someone wide on the opposite side from the corner incase of a over hit ball that goes out of play for a shy that happened today.

our 3 centre half playing keep ball by playing sideways and backwards between themselves when under no pressure , get the ball moving forward with tempo and pace.

NL tactically will not do , we need fresh ideas and thinking our positional sense at corners/ free kicks/throw ins is shocking , do we practise this at Lennoxtown.

livi will drive supporters away , a free game for them but still they play 10 men behind the ball.

  13. onenightinlisbon on

Poor performance like so many this year. Delighted we are so far ahead in the league but our difficulty in converting chances is worrying. Just heard commentator on FA cup semi saying Brighton had scored 13 goals from corners and set pieces this season. How many have we converted? We should thank Neil at the end of the season and appoint someone who can help us play with style and be clinical in the penalty box.

  14. glendalystonsils on

I agree Livi made that game a hard watch but you can’t blame them . They employed tactics which were successful . Our tactics (whatever the feck they were) were unsuccessful. They set out not to lose a game and succeeded , our objective was to win a game and we failed.

  15. That was some hard watch, big shout out to the extra ticket fans who saw Neil Lennon field arguably the best

side he possibly could, expecting a routine home win, Livingston richly deserved their point resembling the ‘all blacks’ playing like they had 15 men, and tidy on the break. We have our limitations in this squad and they’ve shown, all season despite Neil Lennon tweaking and shuffling his inherited playing staff, we’re too reliant on goals from midfielders.

Gone is the dogdy passing at the back, an insistence the keeper had to play backsie’s, and the crazy substitutions but we still miss a direct goalscorer, to take the half chance, a poacher?

Zero shots from outside the box, all play held up, trying to get in behind two banks of five, park the bus is the most successful tactic for generations of visitors. But with an embarrassment of riches in the midfield with BR’s favourite Scott Sinclair missing out after the return of Tom Rogic and Ryan Christie who both huffed and puffed but forgot the Davy Provan maxim ‘ either side of the goalkeeper and its a goal ‘ Saviours Edouard and Forrest ran out of steam and into too many men, time and again whilst McGregor couldn’t thread the needle, with anything like a killer pass, Odsonne continually with his ‘back to goal’ just isn’t that type of player.

Switching to fresh legged Jonny Hayes improved us, but too little too late because high crosses with nothing in the air, is a pure waste of time in open play, or at corners and Livi were very careful not to dive in, within our target area and we were denied a single free kick in shooting range?

Not sure what NFL can do to freshen up the side and goals per game ratio for next week, where the law of averages might favour Aberdeen, and we’re clearly uncomfortable in the hunger game.

    M.O.M Scott Brown

  16. HI BHOYS, when was the last time we scored from a corner, we put crosses into the box they either go behind. for a goal kick or out for a shy, talking of shys we dont seem to be very good at them lately, improvement needed.hh.

  17. Watching Rubentus v AC Milan, 2 teams I cannot stand, but not a bad game, and by the way I don’t even like Italian footy.

    D. :)

  18. Vakoun Bayo , c’mon NL get an out and out striker on the pitch , if he’s fit ,give the lad a chance can’t be any worse than OB (never a striker).

  19. !!Bada Bing!! on

Getting the idea Lennon been told to piss Sinclair off ,so we don’t have to offer a new contract

  20. Last season , Celtic under Brendan Rodgers had 10 draws in the league.

8 OF THEM AT CELTIC PARK.

FIVE of them were 0-0. all of them after the 0-0 with the zombie club.

Why are people shocked we have a draw against a park the bus team.

We had 11 shots on target.

But hey, lets moan about Lennon.

Usual shite on CQN, Supporters my arse.

  21. RON67, agree completely I mean ffs you were at the game noticed you haven’t been on much lately keep posting.hh.

  22. none of the livi players had to dive in in the final third to give away a free kick as apart from JF a couple of times made a run at them , everyone else was too keen to try and make a 4 or 5 ft sideways pass other than attacking their defensive line.

    —————–

Yep, I’d say we’ve been pretty average for 2 seasons now. Unfortunately being the best in Scotland doesn’t make us a good team.

We need to be brave in the summer.

  24. just turned over, BAYERN 4 DORTMUND 0, YIKES.

and Real beaten at home by a tiddler team. Yikes.

  25. we had 11 shots on target yes , only problem was that they were where mostly passback attempts , sometimes you just have to get your bootlaces thru the ****** ball.

  26. Rock Tree Bhoy on

Whoever followed Brendan Rodgers was always going to get it in the neck, 7 out of 7, follow that! Shame that its Neil though, he truly is one of us.

  27. Watching City v Brighton, the 2 Brighton centre backs are Giants, Duffy and Dunk.

Sounds like a couple of 70s detectives.?

    D. :)

  28. Well that was fairly boring!

It has not got a lot to do with Neil Lennon’s efforts. Neil has done a good a good job with his remit to keep us on the straight and narrow. It is not his fault that the team have gone into a slump after “clinching” the league vs the Ibrox mob.

We needed extra effort and extra running not ever more possession-fetish.

Neil improved the team with Hayes and Weah, who had done enough to earn a start. Edouard and Christie had also earned their berths but were both a notch down again this week. Rogic got another 60 minutes but is not back to his best and Kieran got a chance to show us his injury issues are not terminal.

We will have to target the 2 big games we have left. The semi vs Aberdeen and, hopefully, the final in May. The league finishing line will, eventually be stumbled over; we have done the hard miles already.

For the semi- it is back to tried and trusted

    Bain

    Lustig Ajer Benkovic Tierney

    McGregor Brown

    Forrest Rogic Sinclair

    Edouard

I’d look for Hayes and Weah to be the impact subs and keep a CB ready if one of ours breaks down.

Aberdeen have more weapons than Livi

  31. SFTB, that’s my worry Aberdeen are a better team than livingstone, if they play out of their skin, and we play like we did today who is gonna win.hh.

  32. SFtB’s @ 7:17 PM,

Agreed, NL’s remit was to steady the ship and get us over the line(s) without changing too much.

With injuries to players and players returning from injuries team selection is a mixed bag, it was always going to be.

That’s why I thought one game at a time was the best approach for Lenny and the coaching team. It seems to be the way they’ve gone about it.

Agree with your team ‘xept Christie ahead of Rogic at the moment, however Rogic has a certain history against the Dons.

    Hail Hail
