  1. I’m as disappointed as anyone, but just name calling and insulting all and sundry doesn’t help. We are out of Champions League are still in Europa League and have 3 trophies to play for domestically. There is a week left in transfer window, we are where we are, at the end of the week we will see who if any are in and who are out. After that it is just one game at a time. If we don’t improve Ronny will be fired, if we do he won’t. I’m not happy, I’m sick in my stomach but I’m looking forward to Celtic taking the first steps to recovery against Dundee.

    Denayer.

Classy big guy,bit green but better than average start in the team .

    Was he injured?

The manager preferred to start Efe because of his experience…. and, yes, you did read that right…… and,no, I’m not joking.

  3. One last thought – I gave Berget a very hard time and I stand by it. However I noticed he appears to be very very right footed unless I am seriously mistaken. Maybe explained his reluctance to go past his man.

I’d like to see him on the right before I totally write him off.

We also lack leadership on field when the plan isn’t working. We need more guts.

    Change is,rarely painless.

And finally I see the newest club in Scotland beat one of the oldest in the league cup. Normally I would admire that. But I hear the new guys are a hateful bunch and they pay more in wages than they bring in. Seems like cheating to me.

I thought you said that if we went out without scoring it would be a bloodbath on here.

    Or summat similar.

    No matter. It is.

  5. An awful lot of expletives tonight.

If Paul had a wee sweary jar he could invest in a more powerful server

    And

The wee hamsters wouldn’t have to work as hard to keep the wheels turning.

    Very disappointed PJ

  8. If anybody on this blog thinks that performance is acceptable…they need their heads examined.

Get rid of this board now….they are dragging Celtic into the gutter.

    No more.

    I cannot stand it.

    Get them out.

Tonight marks the death of Lawwell’s strategy. An unmitigated disaster. We shouldn’t ever get outclassed by Maribor given relative resources. It’s damning of Lawwell that we have been outclassed by two much economically poorer teams. It’s time for new ideas at the top. I like Ronny and wish him well, but he’s made some costly mistakes already and I’ll be amazed if his time with us will be judged a success. He seems out of his depth. Another moneyball gamble gone wrong. McGregor the only bright spot for me tonight, although pass marks too to Commons (what was Ronny thinking leaving him on the bench?), Gordon and Lustig. Some exceptionally dire performances in there. Ambrose “played” like a man that had taken a bung. Johansen tried very hard but was sensationally rotten, as was Izaguirre. Berget tried but has no ability. Kayal was poor and Stokes is nowhere near CL level. In England he’d be playing League One at best. VVD will go and find a good team with good players to play in. We on the other hand face the purgatory of the SPL against opposition even worse than us and Europa League glamour ties against exotic mid table opposition from Belgium, Belarus and Moldova. Don’t expect any new signings – what would be the point now? Good luck marketing that lot Pedro. The party’s over for you my corporate pal.

Friends in Spain just messaged me asking what has happened to Celtic? Nobody can accuse them of having an agenda.

  12. That was the worst champions league ‘on the cusp of qualification’ display ever.

the board has to take the criticism but tonight the first this evening must be RD. The starting line up was baffling and the 2nd half rejigging jawdropping.

my late granny could tell you from beyond the grave that mr stokes is no lone striker. As for efe Ambrose, i cannot find the words.

as a consequence, i hate to say it but RD is not the man we need. After him we can purge the board.

the only silver lining is that we wont be horsed by bigger and much better teams than maribor in CL.

tonight is the first and last full house of the season

  13. Liewell has killed Celtic

He will earn his bonus this year …again

If Celtic were in the Premiership Liewell would be doing loan signings if 4th place was secured.

The season is over for me. I will do the cup finals corporate …with 29 as I will not give one cent as long as that parasite Liewell is in place. season tickets will be put in a drawer.

Somehow we needed this humiliation to realise what Liewell has done to our club

Liewell should do the decent thing and resign…but hey the Liewell sycophants will start the campaign to defend this charlatan who is destroying Celtic

this is what we get for picking a manager no one ever heard of!!!!!!!!

if he was anyways top class we would have heard of him

at the time frank rijkaard was on sabbatical in florida, think we had the courage to go for frank and dermot desmond stumped some of his millions where we would be today.

dermot being chairman of celtic is not a trinket, contribute towards transfer fees from your billions

you cannot bring it with you and your children can only eat one dinner at a time.

or else dermot sell your shares to a really motivated celtic investor and relenquish the chairmanship.

this mess can be firmly parked at door of the board and dermot

Sadly, pal,we know Efe better than Ronny does.

  17. Tonight was absolutely woeful. Ronny out of his depth IMO. Will watch what I say since tbh, I’m still a bit stunned.

The tactical substitutions beggared belief. When Derk came on I honestly thought we had given up. He was woeful but no worse than a few others.

Lack of a decent striker was so obvious and glaring.

In the CL proper we could have had an unenviable record of no points in the group so maybe not all bad that we went out.

I bet Lenny and the big Greek God are sick as pigs tonight….same as all genuine tims. Shudder to think of the attendances going forward. Looking around the stadium tonight was wonderful, all seats sold. Now?????

I said if we went out and hadn’t scored questions would be asked, particularly as we are/were supposedly on the point of signing a striker, so the club obviously know what’s needed.

I have to say I was surprised at how bad we were tonight.

No point in asking for Peter Lawwell to be sacked though, he’d just be replaced by someone similar working to the same remit.

  19. I’m quite worried about our tactics tonight. First half we were shocking. Start of 2cnd we were doing good. My problem is we were at home, so why didn’t we just go for it? I get we aren’t big guns anymore but fks sake who were we playing?

    We can do better.

I’ll still like to give RD time. But times up on Effe, people say he’s a bomb scare. Bobo was a bomb scare but a footballer. Effe is a Prima Donna., never gonna dig deep.

Please get rid. Can’t abide lack of a bit or a lot of fight in anyone wearing the colors. He hasn’t anything.

    SELL.

  21. That has to be the worst a complete lack of passion like startled deer why couldn’t we get a striker in for that game ,you know one with pace who could head the ball devestated by this, its tumbleweed at paradise for this year absolute car crash

  22. Tontine Tim

A certain we man from Lurgan was in charge when we beat Barcelona and got us to the group stage of Champions league and also in to the last 16 of the champions league despite the best efforts of the board and Pistol Pete.

Now tell me the Positive effects if any of Pistol Pete other than placing Neil Lennon in HANDCUFFS

    L57

  23. I only pray that we now look to move on some of the players that have shown they are not good enough.

We so desperately need a striker or two, tony stokes has and never will be good enough to lead the line, especially as a loan striker.

It’s time to wipe the slate clean and build on the few decent players we have, whilst business is of obvious importance there is no business without the support. The season books are down for one main reason, give us a team to be proud of.

I have no problem with failure, I have a problem with preparing for defeat and I feel that’s where our priorities and ambitions are at.

    Hail Hail

  24. It’s really challenging being in the spl. 26th of August and you feel peed off, 26th

August ffs. RD got tonight wrong but that’s all he did, the board slipped off the August tightrope. We won a match last week 6-1, made ten changes for Sat and lost by an og. Where do we go from here ? The answer is nowhere, we don’t have anywhere to go ! The spl is a one horse race after 20 years of fantasy finance at Ibrox destroyed all other teams apart from us. Europa league and dens park here we come.

The problem with playing a right footed winger on the right is the end product will invariably be a cross.

We might as well pick the ball up, hand it to the keeper and prepare to defend a goal kick.

We dont have the personnel for crosses.

We are supposed to have the movement in advance of a man coming inside.

Truth is the guy sure runs a lot, but for a man whose purpose of those runs is closing down – he doesnt like sticking his foot in where it might hurt I have noticed.

Was DD at the game tonight or away playing golf in some exotic clime? Hope he was there to witness the shambles that now masquerades as our 1st team squad.

I will tell you who I have in mind….somebody that understands football, not asset strippers like DD and his lackey PL.

What I watched tonight, wasn’t Celtic….but a very poor imitation of a once great club.

I don’t blame the manager, or the sub standard players, I blame that disgrace of a board….they have no shame.

They are driving Celtic into the ground.

Im not going to put up with that…I wont be the only one.

Can we not just sack him anyway?

It would certainly cheer me up a bit.

Or even just get him to stick to his original job description. Which didnae mention Director of Football.

  31. Lawwell is Desmond’s lacky.

    Does his bidding.

Between them they have wrecked our club.

Desmond must be forced to sell his control in our club.

    He is a disgrace.

I’m a big Neil Lennon fan but some of the problems we face now and need fixed were created under Neil’s leadership. Too easy to quote that handcuffs were an issue if Neil can pick and choose.

We re in transition. It hurts like hell tonight but we have to hold our nerve.
