lurgan57 – Lenny gets all the credit for building the team that beat Barca. All the credit. However he has to take some of the blame for tonight. Bar Berget and Gordon tonight they were players he signed. Players that failed regularly. You can’t take the credit and not take the lumps.
Ronny however has wondorously managed to make them even more ineffective, which is a hell of a good trick

A certain we man from Lurgan was in charge when we beat Barcelona and got us to the group stage of Champions league and also in to the last 16 of the champions league
*and then we were humiliated by Juve home and away…as MON once said we were punching above our weight.

On the other hand Mulgrew was shocking. Not good enough for Europe. Too slow of thought.
Stokes cannot play up without support. That’s not his fault, it’s not Deila’s fault, it’s a ridiculous lack of resources. Had we went with VVD up front for the full game we’d have won it comfortably. We BETTER get a striker that can head the ball in or this season is a write off.
Johansen is very hit or miss as well. Very wasteful.
My first comment about Efe Ambrose (from what seems like years ago on here) was to compare him unfavourably with Olivier Tebily. Nothing has changed in the intervening times. A dreadful player.
I’m also concerned that Deila will be our (admittedly small time) Le Guen.
However, these concerns pale in the shadow of the real problem – the lack of an ethical and decent board. We’re Celtic in name only whilst Dermot Desmond and scum like ‘Lord’ Livingston are in power at Celtic.
My concern is just how far we have slipped. My work colleagues fail to comprehendhow we are worse than the Legia and Maribors of the world. They do understand tthat we have the resources of a WBA or Leicester but are we using them properly?
Ronny Deila – first Celtic manager ever to enter a new season without being given a penny in transfer fees to spend after ten weeks in the job.
Anyone would think we were skint.

Should have added that another part of the strategy has been a relentless drive to sanitise the support.
This was to pander to the refined sensitivities of corporate sponsors.
More of tonight and there won’t be too many of the prawn sandwich brigade to pander to.
That was the poorest European side I’ve seen win at Celtic Park.
A bereft Celtic side ‘rested’ at the expense of the weekend league flop led the club to an embarrassing home defeat, and total ignominy.
Quite a few stated the Legia fiasco and the resulting reinstatement was a bad thing, and who would now disagree. A blessing, that we will not be forced to buy into the Pot 4 molestings, where we were garanteed to play three sides better than us, the continuing collapse will be bad enough for the souls that brave a Europa package.
Celtic started with only McGregor looking likely and that says it all since his arrival from English division three. Stokes on his on up front was meat and drink for a very ordinary Slovenian defence that couldn’t believe their luck, at how bad Celtic actually were, on their own pitch.
Commons took over but his arrival and the first real goal threat soon faded, McGregor hit the bar, and Celtic threw forward the hapless Ambrose VVD and Lustig at corners, and suddenly inside the stadium you could feel the stakes rising, and Maribor sensed that any goal would knock Celtic out.
Each substitution and change in ‘format’ thereafter went quite close to farcical by the end, where the confidence had drained out of the dizzy players that were switched about from position to position, as RD weaved his brand of magic.
Comic cuts and Celtic couldn’t clear their lines from a routine cross and Maribor cashed in. If it wasn’t RD’s Celtic squad when he arrived it sure as hell is now, and it’s not looking very bright, as he’ll need to concentrate, harder on Inverness Dundee, Ross County et all to gain any credibility with the puzzled Celtic support.
A truly depressing night at Celtic Park.

I’m a big Neil Lennon fan but some of the problems we face now and need fixed were created under Neil’s leadership. Too easy to quote that handcuffs were an issue if Neil can pick and choose.
We re in transition. It hurts like hell tonight but we have to hold our nerve.
