    PFAyr – I’m not for punting him yet but his philosophy may well be his undoing. 1st half, with his 433 in possession 451 when not, the team looked clueless. Huge spaces between our lines that they played in. Half time he switched it and that was the pragmatism I was waiting for. Switching to the 4411 and all of a sudden we were in the game. However he then, after 20mins of pummeling them, switched back but got Commons to lead the line. That allowed Maribor to push 10 yards up as Commons has zero pace, squeezing the game and costing the tie.

     

     

    The change was utterly unnecessary and I can’t for the life see what he thought he was doing there.

    Berget was a panic loan deal by RD when it became obvious he was getting no one else in time for Legia games.

    Strange parallelism between Ronny Deila and Louis van Gaal. Both left with some very ordinary players and choosing to see which of those can make the grade within the new system and which can’t.

     

     

    Ronny looks like he has men coming in that will fit and therefore there must be some on the way out.

     

     

    If, yes it’s all ifs and buts, Kris scores rather than pulling his shot wide were are one up instead of being one down within a minute.

     

     

    And I would have backed VVD to score 999 times out of a 1000. Tonight was the one he didn’t.

     

     

    I’ve seen it many times before. We have games where the ball just won’t go in the net. I’ve also seen times when the seemingly impossible happens at Celtic Park.

     

     

    I expect I will see more of both in the future.

    Downsizing in a nutshell.

    I have been preaching for years on the debilitating effect of relentless downsizing.

     

     

    The last couple of weeks sums it all up.

     

     

    We got out ofjail in the CL and immediately floogged what was arguably our best player.

    If NL saw the writing on the wall then we can hardly blame RD.

     

     

    There is no incentive to play for Celtic apart from using it as a stepping stone to better things. That is even the boards philosophy it is so apparent.

     

     

    I am all for the RD era as long as the hopes and expectations are honestly communicated but that would mean admitting that we are old firm

    Just in and I think what worries me most is I’m not angry, I’m numb. I can’t remember watching a first half that made me feel so despondent. I don’t know where we go from here but Lawell at the very least has to enlighten us as to the grand plan. I’m not asking us to compete with the EPL, just Legia and Maribor and I’m not asking us to be run like the huns and spend ourselves into oblivion, but this isn’t working and it has to change. I’ve been here before but I’m gutted for my bhoy..

    If Kayal was still on the park Maribor may not have scored.

     

     

    Commons should only have been brought on for Berget. This was Ronnys major error.

     

     

    However Liewell has ensured that RD has operated with one hand tied behind his back. The crowds at Celtic Park will drop to 20k and hopefully lower so Liewell can be forced out.

     

     

    Liewell has unread his bridges with the Celtic support……his time is over.

    Moonbeams… typically hysterical over-reaction. We have no divine right to be in the CL and at the moment we are much more an EL club than a CL one.

     

     

    We have a new manager who is – gasp! – trying to reshape the team, in the way that all good managers do. He needs time, and he needs backing.

     

     

    The board need to tell the fans what the strategy is, and they need to assure us they are backing the manager fully in the transfer market. After this summer’s shambles Ronny needs to make it clear he is in charge of pre-season schedules, signing etc…

     

     

    If he can swing that, we’ll be fine, I’m sure.

    I believe celtic to be a faith..but the present custodians I believe do not. They think we are a commodity.

     

     

    We are anti bigotry.

     

    We are open to all.

     

    We support the underdog..including our old rivals in Scottish football.

     

    We need to engage with our believers.

     

    Fergus made me believe 20 years ago…can we reignite this belief….

    With all due respect, that’s a cop out. The formation he is trying to get them to play just doesn’t suit the people he has. We do not have the technical abilities, or the pace and athleticism, required to play the way Ronny likes to. We can’t control it fast enough, our passing isn’t accurate enough and the players don’t cover enough ground.

     

     

    For his system to work requires fast accurate passing, with people getting back, in numbers, when the ball is lost, whilst being ready to go forward quickly again. Speed is the key, with quick interactions.

     

     

    Only McGregor seems capable of it yet he persists……it is no coincidence our best spell was when we were 4411

    We lost a game not a club.

     

    To clarify for you TUPE happens when a club gets liquidated, employees can TUPE over to the company that has bought the assests of the defunct Club/company.

     

    It’s part of employment Law.

     

    To clarify that further for you…….

     

    Law, the rules by which civilised societies abide.

     

    Employment is when you do something useful and someone gives you money.

     

    I thought I should add those definitions for you, I doubt you’ve come across them previously.

    I agree that Berget so far hasn`t shown much at all. Tonight he was cowardly in the tackle and seemed to lack any kind of belief that he could beat his man.

     

     

    But clubs don`t let good players or the finished article go out on loan. We are taking a risk when we go into that market. Was it the case that Deila had to make do and mend?

     

     

    The fact is Deila is the first Celtic manager in history to be appointed and not be given a penny to spend in transfer fees after 10 weeks in the job. Why is this? Are we skint? Or is Deila holding the fort on a temporary basis?

    I watched that performance in a bar in Turkey (every cloud has a silver lining)

     

     

    Three substitutions that I wouldnt have made:

     

    bringing Commons on – gave Celtic control of the game, albeit I would have taken off Mulgrew instead of Kayal who was having a very good game

     

    Matthews for Berget – OMG. If there was an injury issue, mabe justified, but ?berget was doing a decent job going forward and defensively

     

    Borrigter for Lustig. OMG. Borrigter for anyone is a disgrace – a man who has contributed zero in his time at Celtic. An attacking player when, if Maribor didnt score, the game was won.

     

    How Charlie Mulrgrew, Ambrose and Izzy – the three weakest players in the team bt some way,- stayed on the park, i have no idea. Charlie is a cover for centre back and nothing else – he is no centre midfielder and no pace for left back. Ambrose is a 5-a-side player and should not be in a Celtic team. Izzy has zero pace or positional sense. That is one third of a team.

     

     

    THe money would have been great but, had Celtic qualified and drawn a Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, the 5-0 that the huns suffered against Juve many years ago (before they died, of course) would have been blown out of the water. Celtic are a Europa League level team, no more. If Maribor get a tough group. they will lose by a cricket score in every game. as Celtic would have done
