As well as the reccos from VFR, if you are interested in food it’s worth paying a visit to Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg area. There’s a load of great stuff to eat and drink in a variety of stalls. The “Kantine” was a highlight for me. But then I’m a bit of a greedy guts. On the way there, there’s a good bar called Apothekary (spelling?) which does amazing cocktails. I walked through the doors mid-afternoon and floated out later that evening.
There’s a great way to tour the city – in a Trabant. You leave in a convoy and drive around following the lead car. Great fun. For more high-brow diversion I can recommend the Komische Oper Berlin – their production of The Magic Flute was at the Edinburgh Festival last year. I saw it in Berlin and it was excellent.

Will be interesting to see who replaces John Park in the coming weeks.
The board are backing Rodgers to the hilt. He’s already brought in his own guy for the sports science team.
I can only imagine he has somebody in mind for the head scout position (He does need one)
The main aspect of Park’s role was organising the scouts and transfer targets as per the managers instruction. He’ll still need somebody to do that.
I was at Pittodrie on Saturday on a corporate ticket.
Malone’s Bar in the city centre first for a couple of pints, then Pittodrie from 1:30 ’til 6;00pm.
Food pre game, have time and post game all free.
Free bar all day too although you were not allowed alcohol at half time.
Plus, it was Lady’s Day so I can imagine similar at Royal Ascot.
So, if the fitba’ was crap there was other things to look at and keep you occupied.

No, I was a full term, walking, talking person.
I have mentioned this before, but I thought that it would be of immense interest to newer readers !!
I saw Mc.Donald play in a Celtic Old Crocks v Maryhill Juniors O C, at Lochburn Park, circa 1955.
I saw Patsy in the Seamore Cinema, at the junction of North Woodside Rd. and Maryhill Rd., a few years before that.
St. Columba’s Parish hired the cinema for a showing of Song of Bernadette. When it was announced that Gallagher was in the audience, he stood to acknowledge the applause.
I met Jimmy Mc.Grory when I went to Parkhead to buy a copy of his book for my father in law.
As it happened, he came out of the Park just as I was heading for my car. I asked him to sign the book and he graciously obliged.
