  1. Just in from the game.

We need to learn to play like the other SPFL teams. I don’t like it but “getting tore in” gets results against us. We don’t seem to know how to react to teams kicking us. I suppose the MIBs will come down on us like a ton of bricks. Imo, young Tierney lost all confidence after he got huckled a couple of times.

Even with excuses we were poor.

  2. Poor game at Celtic Park and Mark McGhee and his sprinkling of hope and seasoned pro’s just about deserved their win, against a hapless at home Celtic side.

Scott (black Sunday) McDonald, then Celtic, fairly haunted us again today with a typical low gravitational performance, he was more involved in the game than the entire Celtic attack, and caused mayhem for the Celtic sieve.

Fresh from a sequence of several unpunished by Bobby Madden fouls he took Jozo’s wrap on the ankles as an open invitation and the referee was inches away and happy to oblige, for the Well ‘stonewall’ penalty winner.

Celtic tried to up the pace from the interval but with Nadir Ciftci still misleading the line, it was a mild surprise that Bitton’s soft shot, was deflected past the keeper. It only annoyed Motherwell who quickly outstripped the flat footed Celtic defence , for a tap in equaliser.

Cue the magic subs? – Scott Allan and Carlton Cole were ineffective, against a side that contained Celtic nearly men and cast offs including Pearson McManus and McDonald, not to mention shortlisted Mark McGhee.

Still ahead, with a game in hand, you know you’re tea’s out, when the keeper goes up for a corner, and Ronny will be in more trouble on CQ, than he really is, with the other ‘pub’ teams in our league.

As long as Ronny is in situ I will support him, jeez, I even supported BTM till the death.

I see no point is getting rid and getting another like in, if they do decide to get rid, they have to think outside the box.

But for me, the first thing that needs changed is the recruitment policy.

Totally agree, I couldn’t believe Ronny’s post match comments and in particular about being too narrow. Forrest wasn’t great today but he was our only wide man and has pace. Commons, Rogic, Cifti offered nothing today in my view. Taking our wide guy off and then bringing Cole on, I found that strange.

I am genuinely concerned about the long term and do not see what Ronny brings and fear he is playing a massive role in driving our support away.

Bid decision for Lawwell. My money is on Stubbs coming to Celtic…

  6. Newcastle game becoming a water polo match.

Didn’t make the game today domestic strife,

do you think RD is the man to take us forward?

  8. Alan Stubbs would be an even bigger gamble than Ronny. Ronny has /had far better managerial credentials.

But questions must be asked and there is absolutely no doubt that the fans who made the effort today definitely deserved better.

    Hail, Hail.

  9. archdeaconsbench on

Btw… I reckon if there is a change in manager, we will see a change in strategy.

    Seriously.

Ronny was not a Dermot appointment. If you also believe that and join the subsequent dots………

  10. Just in after watching that utterly dire performance, and haven’t read the blog. Dearie, dearie me, where do you start?

From Celtic’s point of view, the game was completely bereft of skill. 90 minutes without a single piece of skill – just think about that for a moment.

What we did see was alarming – The tiny McDonald nudging the much larger Boyata off the ball, Bitton pirouetting uselessly and constantly losing the ball, players jogging 30 yards to make a 5 yard pass, Subbuteo like movement from forward players, sideways passes directly to or behind players completely killing any momentum, Commons, Cifti and Cole with the same speed as a three legged tortoise with arthritis, the same players with the same vertical leap as the width of a newspaper, Deila’s indecisiveness when we go 1-2 down, the complete lack of drive, energy and leadership on the park, and the simply dreadful crossing and shooting.

I’ve been watching Celtic for over 50 years, and I can’t remember being so discouraged by the incredibly abject and inept fare on display at Celtic Park. If today was not a shocking wake up call to Lawwell and the Board, I can’t imagine what would be.

To me, this emphasized the significance of what I have heard from many Celtic supporters over the past year – if Sevco are gerrymandered into the SPL and there is no title stripping for the previous cheating, they will walk away. Watching poor players play turgid football is bad enough – knowing it is not on a level playing field exacerbates it. So why pay to watch it?

  11. THE EXILED TIM

Agree that we need a change in recruitment policy, but when you say they have to think outside the box. Is that not what Ronnies appointment supposed to be.

  12. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

I watched Cove Rangers play Forress Mechanics today in Highland Leagur. £8 to get in. Proper Pie and Bovril £2.50.

I sat about 2 m from the touch line.

I really enjoyed it. Ended up 3-1 to Cove.

  13. SOUKOUS

He was to be Lenny’s number 2, so I don’t think it was thinking outside the box, it was spun as such once he was appointed.

What I don’t want is a “scottish” type coach.

There are some top quality coaches out there, attainable, just depends on what DD wants.

I see posters slagging the likes of Cifct, Cole etc, they are a product of the failed recruitment policy, no way on Gods earth were they signed by the coach, not a hope in hell.

    No, I don’t.

I fel the club is losing it’s way, but not just under Ronny.

It was sadly ironic today that Big Billy was honoured today.

A guy who brought so much leadership, passion and determination to win to the club. He was well supported then and since, but over the last few years.

Contrast that to the limp passionless, characters today. It isn’t actually their fault, they just shouldn’t have had the opportunity.

We are losing one of the thing that made us great, the club’s will to win, as we portray ourselves as a steppin stone.

Supporters like me shouldn’t think like I am just now. But that Celtic outlook of believing we can do it…..is being drained out of me under this guy.

  15. SOUKOUS

Think Ronnys appointment was a definite change of direction by the board and I think most fans bought into it. But it is clearly not working I wanted it to work for Ronny but his refusal to learn from his mistakes means he has to go for me now.

  16. Not just a change of coach needed at Celtic Park the boardroom needs a shake up as well. The apathy surrounding the club just now frightening .

  17. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi on

Today was terrible _ but like it or not Ronny is with us until the end of he season.

For sure, we were missing Broonie’s drive and Griff’s ability to snatch a goal or two from nothing, but it’s obvious that the malaise runs deeper.

We were found out in Europe (big style, it has to be said) is it about to spill over into the domestic side?

I don’t know what the transfer window will bring, but recent recruits don’t inspire confidence.

We have no leaders on the park – that’s something you just can’t buy.

  18. At the risk of being called negative.

Does any one, Happy Clappy or Negative, have any idea where we are going, or how we are going to get there.

I ask again what I asked last night. Is there an individual at Celtic who could half fill Billy’s jersey, or half his size Jinky’s?

That was a really poor display today however … I am very proud to have been outside on the Celtic Way to see the unveiling of a statue in honour of our greatest ever captain.

Hail Hail Billy, you are a living legend and an amazing ambassador for Celtic.

Well done to Jim Craig who spoke eloquently and fondly on behalf of the Lions and the fans.

Funnily enough, I was just thinking something similar. On the day we unveil a statue to a giant of a Celt from yesteryear, the team of today plays like midgets and munchkins.

    Ironic.
