  1. Just back from the game.

For the second game in a row, a late swing of the boot led to a few match day reports getting torn up. However, unlike some of last week’s revisionists, I will try hard not to mis-report this one.

Thistle did not deserve to drop all 3 points. Celtic, for their bravery after going down to 10, deserved something from the game. 3 points was, perhaps, a steal but, then, Hearts did not deserve their draw last time out, but they got it.

I rejoice that our team and our manager got 3 valued points today. Thistle were hard working, organised and were not at all defensive minded. They won the first half by a 60:40 margin, I’d say. We won the second half, however, both before and after the sending off. We did not do enough to deserve winning but we did more than enough to put Thistle on the back foot. Wee James may not have had much involvement in the winning goal but he did much to put Thistle back on the defensive and to take their confidence from them.

We had players who battled today, Gordon, Ambrose (my MOTM) and Tierney. We had players who made the extra effort in the second half in Johansen and Griffiths and we had wee James’ sideline runs to put them back in a shell.

Overall, we were poor-ish today. We have turned no corners BUT we got 3 points and live to fight another day.

That’s gotta be worth a smile at least.

When Bitton was sent off (correctly) RD moved McGregor back to play beside Johnasen making us play 4-2-2-1 (defence minded) instead of 4-1-3-1 (more attacking)

He will not move from that 4 at the back and 2 in front formation that gives you control of the ball IN OUR HALF but leaves you outnumbered up front – its this that makes us boring

There have been too few exciting moments for me this season and too many depressing ones

I would settle for us to win the league a cup is a bonus (of course I want us to win the treble) but winning the league is the only show in town

Efe hardly put a foot wrong today, but get rid anyways

    ——————————————

Seems anyone who may have a modicum of ability is expendable, it’s Sammy all over again.

Efe makes mistakes yes though he’s no dud but hey let’s replace him with a Grade A diddy in the Cifti mold. Idiotic!

    HH!

  4. Watxhing Man City at Watford.

    It’s Deja Vu.

    Slow slow quick quick slow.

It’s the modern game with its possession obsession.

  5. 67 European Cup Winners on

Final comment before night out – I can only hope (but I have my doubts) that Celtic (DD in particular but also PL) have decided to change RD but cannot get there man util after the Euros

So they have placed their faith in RD to win the league (surely he cant f–k that up!)

If this theory is somewhere near the truth then it makes me think of 2 possibilities

    1) DD has said to PL you had your chance when you picked RD – its my turn and Roy Keane is coming after the Euros

    2) Michael O’Neil (Northern Ireland) has been lined up

The only other option I can think of is that both DD and PL see a future with RD ?? God help us

Jags played well – maybe the SPL quality IS improving?

    However, the Celts are not.

We competed well at Celtic Park aganist PT….

LG scored an opportunist goal in the last minute from a deflected KC shot: ONE -NIL

    :o)

However, we looked disjointed – leaderless- weak … you know the rest .

Top of the league, still in the 2 cups – ye cannae sack the manager…

So, who gives the boots up the backside and prepares for Europe next season ???

Needs to be done NOW !!!!

  7. 67 European Cup Winners on

Efe and most of the players are good enough – its the coach thats the problem

Last minute 10 men winner. Got to give Ronnie some credit just as he took the flak for losing last minute goal v Hearts.

Got to love Griffiths. He’s worth his weight in Gold. Hopefully he’ll get some competition in January window.

I do wonder if it is crossing Lawwell’s mind he would be cheaper getting a new manager rather than new players. I do think our players are underperformance and may respond to a new manager.

With the players we have we should be romping the league.

  9. Action at Vicarage Road as Sterling hits well over from 10 yards after a stramash

It’s so intense I’m away to clean my sump pump.

  10. PF – no argument there matey.

While no right-minded supporter would want to listen to a sycophant, neither do we need state sponsored hunguffery either.

Packie’s not the worst, far from it, and while I may exaggerate slightly to make the point, Celtic deserve proper representation in the national media.

It could have been worse, mind – we were spared “Murder” McLeod.

    HH and HNY.

  11. GG

Genuine question. Might be way off the mark, but in a one off game, with the way the team are playing at the moment, and also taking into account the MIB’s, is it a realistic possibility?

  12. ELLBOY

Yip, it seems that his past won’t be forgotten.

He has in reality prob cost us less than a handful of goals in all the games he has played for us, way less than many others who don’t merit a mention, his heroics never get a mention either.

I was 100% behind Ronnie, a man that loves the beautiful game..

I’m coming round to ur way of thinking.

Replace now and prepare for Europe and Hun next season.

  14. Stairheedrammy on

If Thistle shaded the first half Gordon must have had saves to make, I don’t remember them.

  15. An awful lot of Celtic supporters…cough cough……in here upset that we won today……, three points top of the league, ten men.

Didn’t play well,? believe it or not teams all over the world have done that and will do it this weekend.

Celtic not allowed to do that?

Celtic Supporters my arse, they should look at the words in the songs we sing,.

I bet the members of the CT soiled there drawers when the Griff hit the net.

    Hahaha GIRFUYs

  16. Lacking in effort, application, attitude. Completely out of sorts and bereft of anything in fact.

And that’s just Kris Commons (the fans favourite).

Fair play to McGregor today, he showed courage on the ball when others would have not.

  17. Ronny D’s vision????

He’s probably a slightly better, insightful “Andy Roxburghe” type, but without the square heid and

the Bri- Nylon trackie……………….Given what’s happened to the “structure” of scoddish foo’oball that’s probably enough.

  18. What is the Stars on

    Dan

I would say yes. …which is a sad state of affairs.

If teams from the bottom of the spl can cause us problems why can’t the team at the top of the championship.

That said there was a gulf exposed last season when motherwell comfortably stuffed Sevco. However they have improved since then . We have gone backwards

  19. Flying blind with these comments but the poor performance described on here did not come as a surprise.

Games are currently being played on and off the park.

KC is not happy if TR gets a game and the central berth.

Every time they have both played the same scenario plays out.

KC takes the hump, starts playing for himself and no one else and sprays around Hollywood balls like a young CA on speed out to impress the TFOD hordes.

From memory not very ptretty indeed very wasteful would be my most positive description.

Add in CMcG plus NB looking more and more dis-interested and SJ just running off steam and it is no wonder we struggled.

We are currently a shambles on and off the park.

  20. What is the Stars on

    Tony

You know what, you are right, celtic are a class act, top of the league, playing lovely inspirational football and in ronny we have one of the shrewdest coaches in professional football.

    Why would anyone complain

    Unless they were hunny bunnies

  21. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

    Dan

We have a “team” of players lacking confidence, some who hide, some who clearly have no faith in the management.

We have made some unfathomable signings, whilst the guys they were bought to replace, languish at the club syphoning off cash.

Our “system” is easy to read and you know the Celtic manager won’t deviate from his tactics.

There are still 4 reasonable quality players (Brown, Gordon, Commons, Griffiths) at Celtic park, 2 seem to be happy enough but one is injured. The other two have had public differences with the manager.

I don’t think a few of this present squad would relish a game at the Bigot-dome right now, as they hide frequently. Still a few who would love it though.

  22. As poor a Celtic performance, at Paradise, since, eh our last game.

At least this time we got a win!

But we are very poor, lack vision and confidence. Little cohesion and rely on individuals to produce a piece of magic. No spark or invention..

I don’t like the system and the players look like, neither do they.

    BTW Efe isn’t the worst.

Pass marks for the goalie and the wee bhoy KT, but dearie me, we are struggling at present.

I would like to see a back to basics performance.

Back four, one holding centre mid, one winger.

Could be here all night trying to put this to rights!

And here’s me with a dry January to look forward to.

  24. Mad-Mitch

Are you describing the play of players you did not watch playing today?

I am afraid that KC played badly in a different way than the one you describe. Callum was fairly average and Nir Bitton was a bit too interested as he put himself about more than usual.

P.S. I do not think any of our players can be described as sis-interested- we are paying them all so they cannot be disinterested parties. :-)

  25. JUDE2005 IS NEIL LENNON \O/ on 2ND JANUARY 2016 6:11 PM

Did we sign Scott Allen just to spite sevco?? Thats embarrassing!!!!

He’s a creative player who looks to play the ball quickly, usually in a forward direction, and he’s not scared to have a shot. Why on earth we signed him is indeed a mystery. Although, I’m sure we can coach all of that nonesense out of him just like we’ve done with Armstrong.

  26. Stairheedrammy on

Missing at least 4 probable starters from our first eleven today we played a stuffy Thistle team who had successfully played the same formation v the sheep and who are on a reasonable run at present. We didn’t play well with our midfield off the pace and Cifci showing again he has the ability to become invisible in front of 30,000 people. Chris Commons seems to have taught him that. Despite this it took two moments of blindness from the MIB to deny us what should have been at least one penalty and probably one thistle player taking an early shower. Going down to 10 men saw us up the pace and the maligned Jamsie created panic in the away defence by starting to run at them. Going down to 10 seemed to spark our players into trying harder for the goal that the Griffallo banged in at the end to disappoint much of the MSSM and the guys who only seem to appear on here when the tic look like dropping points.

Cheers. A modern day equivelant of the white handkerchief treatment.

  28. Just in from the beach and read back the live updates, same old same old.

If we have any money to spend in January it should be spent on a manager.

Get him in right away, that gives him the month to sort this mess out, get rid of the junk and try to bring in a couple of seasoned pros to nurture what little talent we have……

Thanks to you all for the updates………..HH

  29. Dan

Sevco are not exactly running away with the Xhampionship.

They have a team of loan signings.

They play their best football in the red tops.

    I give you St Johnstone.

    Prior to that Motherwell.

The gulf between them and the SPFL is large.

We are going through a mid season sip.

LG is back, Bronny will follow and we may even find a gem in the dross we sign in the transfer window.

  30. WHAT IS THE STARS on 2ND JANUARY 2016 6:10 PM

    Thanks for you reply buddy.

Certainly very worrying for me how our standard of play has dipped from last season. Although we are still at the top of the league, if Aberdeen had taken their chances to go top the last few times, they could perhaps have opened up a gap and been piling pressure on us. I still think Sevco are very poor, but with our Captain missing at the moment, we very much lack winners on the park, so I guess if the circumstances were aligned correctly for Sevco it is a possibility, however remote.

Time will tell if Ronny is the right man for the job, not for me as I think he has had enough time, and importantly seems not to be able to adapt his system, hope it does not come down to a defeat to Sevco for the board to wake up.
