Cracking Story re the Sarry….
The Drinks were Shammy and Large T (Tornado).
First time in the Sarry was after the 1985 Cup Final, was just up from London and had been doing a ‘Crawl’ of the pubs with a few of the locals. It was my round as we entered the Sarry and the order was 4 x Shammy and 2 x Large T’s (Tornados)… Aye right do you think I’m daft?
Nope that was the names of the drinks, had a sip of both and, I must say thank Feck for Big Whitbreads… (Yeeuch!)

I’m sorry, but that isn’t true.
Professional footballers are paid to do a job.
We can comment on player’s ability all we want, and many are lacking the ability we would desire, but we cannot quantifiably expect professionals to adopt our mindset and beliefs simply because we believe it to be part of the job description, when it absolutely is not.
Moreover, the same viewpoint as your own, can be cast about the McDonald’s uniform, or even the Kwik-Fit overalls.
Many great players, from many great teams, did so because it was their job and they felt privileged to play football for a living. Very very few were able to play for the club they supported as a youngster, and even fewer were able to be motivated by pulling on a jersey infamous to the consumers of their product.
We can have strong feelings about our heritage, our strip, and anything else we want; but it is unrealistic to expect others to have the same strong feelings and/or motivation because we have them.

Sadly that’s the way it is for ‘some’ football supporters in this country nowadays. The fact that many, many don’t experience this doesn’t mean it isn’t happening every single week.

Well, I recall his recent, none too complimentary coments about the club , and I am not too convinced by his cv as a club manager. However, no one could doubt his commitment or capability as a player.. and I dont think Celtic Park is the right place for him… ask Neil Lennon.

I was waxing lyrical about exactly the same game early Saturday morning.
One of the finest victories I’ve witnessed over Deadco.
As you said we were still singing confidently at half time, as they hadn’t been in the game after they scored in the first few minutes.
There were a couple of times in the first half when Big Yogi almost lifted Ritchie off his feet with the ferocity of his shooting.
He was unplayable that day.
