I’ve mentioned that a couple times. Ciftci was not only onside, and from an excellent through ball, but an outstanding finish.

    Yet our players are duds.

The Exiled Tim puts it eloquently enough. Me,I’m more of a ‘cheating bassas in black’ guy. Either way,Celtic should be vociferously disapproving of officiating. With the DVDs to back it.

Big day out ahead on Saturday. .. 4 mates and I put a fiver each on and pick one team each to win. Got a few good returns and the pot sits at £1500 so as it’s 2 tims – 1 Arab – 1 Paisley st – and a manure fan. … we decided on a day out in embra this weekend and use some of the pot to get hospitality at Tyne castle for the hearts v sheep match .

Arrive at the Gorgie stand at 3pm for dinner and unlimited booze – kick off at 5 I think – drinks for an hour after the match with access to motm and interviews.

Given the 2 teams are our main rivals it will be interesting and I’m hoping I don’t shout ” your clubs deed ya dirty masonic Bassa “

  8. Sportscene – a hun programme.

    Referee – a cheat.

    ‘Twas ever thus.

Celtic – performing poorly, but won the game despite the cheating officials.

We have the the win-ugly look of a title-winning side.

I’d love to see us win in style but I’ll be content with simply winning.

At the dayooooot/hoot in October,I mentioned to two weel-kent posters on here that none of our outfield players would be first picks in any of our sides in the last twenty years.

They shot me down in flames yet couldn’t make a convincing argument. Perhaps Lustig over Telfer. And that was it.

Ronny Deila is not guilty of mismanaging his resources-though I admit he is not guilty of maximising them either.

IMO,the blame lies squarely at the door of an all-powerful CEO and an absentee landlord who has allowed an ego to go uncontrolled.

For those who suggest that PL has done a sterling job of steering the PLC through troubled waters,I’ll ask one question.

How much is it going to cost to repair the effects of his parsimony in order to get a decent team back on the pitch and fill some empty seats, repair our reputation in Europe, get us back to where we were four years ago, never mind twelve?

A damn sight more than he has ‘saved’ us would be my guess.

Beancounters. Know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

HAPPY HOOOOOPY NEW YEAR to you too, fine gentleman that you are!

  11. I guess the reality of the situation is that my opinion on the merits or shortcomings of the current side are no more than just that, an opinion, which hold no sway with the guys that do matter, namely the board.

They clearly feel the objectives of the footballing side of the business are being met.

Peter Lawell on a salary of £564k per annum, gets a bonus last year of £417k. That’s 73% of his salary paid as a bonus. That decision is made by his fellow directors, and is based on objectives being met. Given that the maximum bonus he is entitled to under the conditions of his contract is 60%, it struck me as odd that he was given an additional payment due to his fellow directors agreeing that he had ‘ fulfilled ALL of his objectives.

Given one of those objectives is

“Enhancing the reputation and standing of Celtic”, then clearly they have a vastly different opinion to me as to what that statement amounts to.

As I say, all about opinions and unfortunately if you view the current state of the footballing side of the club as unacceptable, then you better get used to the present level, because in the eyes of those whose opinion DOES matter, all is well.

If you however are happy with the current situation, then rejoice, those who are in charge are in agreement with you.

  12. I was in Stonehaven for the New Year and had a great time. Home last night.

We were out on Hogmanny and had a wonderful New Years day.

So, we decide to have a quiet Saturday and head for the Station Bar, which is nearby, as it’s pouring.

Now in the bar there are three big tv’s. One was showing Sky Sports scores update, one was showing Man U v Swansea (Setanta) and the other had the horse racing on.

Although I was flitting between two of the screens, there was a local standing next to me who was giving me a running commentary on the football score updates. And I mean every score.

Sheffield Wed 2-0 up now. Huddersfield getting beat 1-0. FFS. Every score he told me and seemed to say the hun score slightly louder. (That could have been my imagination)

It seemed to be about five past five and I’d given up.

Then this guy shouts in my ear “Celtic have scored, ya beauty”

    Cue hugs and handshakes!

He wasn’t such a boring bassa after all!

Your post and mine explain a problem I have in replying to a an e-mail from a prominent poster on here on much the same thing.

Which is the stick-or-twist,too far down the road to ruin problem we now face.

The worst bit about it is,that when Lawwell finally goes,it’s the poor sod who has to pick up the pieces who’ll get the blame for overspending!

As a comparison,Labour got hammered for spending on infrastructure like roads, hospitals, schools, railways, etc,in 1997-2010. No-one seems to remember why they had to. Because damn all had been spent since 1979.

    But who’s the bad guys?

We are truly in a bad place, mate. I don’t lay claim to genius, but I wish there was one somewhere who could solve this problem.

  17. Monday morning techie question.

Btw,if a very nice chap offered to run her home from Prestwick to Kilwinning is reading this,I’m on the bell!

Speaking of which, always nice to meet a new pal-and Ya beauty is always a nice introduction.

I take your own two beauties are fine and dandy? Please give them my finest felicitations.

    HH

  19. Bobby

Your understanding of the problem is exactly the same as my own. £51m revenue last year down by £13m from previous year.

European football in the shape of the CL, and transfer fees for sold players are the two main factors that impact on this, out with season ticket income.

What happens when there are no sellable assets left? It’s a fair bet that what you have got left, won’t get you into the CL, so the decline will continue, and may well see season book sales affected as well.

Arrest the decline now or watch the downward spiral continue.

The cost to stop the decline will grow year on year.

Off to ( try) to run the Wrekin. First day back on the running after 13 days off it over new year, it nearly killed me!

  20. For those who suggest that PL has done a sterling job of steering the PLC through troubled waters,I’ll ask one question. The malcontents legacy, change the record ffs, moan, moan moan, I know we are all entitled to our opinion but God almighty, and what was the other post you made? I think you know where I stand wi Ronny. He has my total support, even if for no other reason that he will almost certainly be replaced by another project, and subject to the same restrictions. – See more at: http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/celtic-v-partick-thistle-live-updates-5/comment-page-27/#comments

You and your type will never be satisfied NEVER, as I said your hatred for the board is your drive, and the SMSM and Huns in here applaud for it, .

But then again that’s just the way I see you and your little cabals agenda in here, I’m probably on my own, and liking the board, the manager, the club is not a crime the last time I looked, and neither is your opinion, .

  21. Having wached the game again I can only conclude that Ronny is under instructions to play Kris Commons. How on earth was he not substituted? After the referee he was Thistle’s best player. Please play Scot Allan, Ronny.

TBJ says Wee Oscar Knox is in heaven with the angels on 4th January 2016 9:53 am Bbc highlights show the penalty incidents but hardly a comment on them … nadirs goal was only shown from the one angle which always makes me suspicious.

    ———

Me too pal. Also – they would have drawn their line to prove it was offside if it had been.

Same as the home game v Hearts (0-0).

I guessed the analysis on sportscene would not be critical

When Leigh put the ball in the net I was actually surprised the goal stood . While others around me were dancing and cheering I was trying to see if the linesman had his flag up …

    Always a good sign!

  25. The BBC in my opinion are a go with the level 5 agenda, nothing positive about Celtic , the highlights show is proof where they stand, remember last week when the Hun got sent off for…alleged head butting….. It was on the bbc sports, BT sports, and Sky more times than the PPI adverts ffs

That’s my point he did get off with it, the head but that is, but in all the confusion and panic to get him off, no one mentioned about the Hun player kicking him first, that was all forgotten, smoke and mirrors I think they call it, an old SFA trick, still in use at this present day and time.

    Jobo,

Big Joes advice is good low GI or anything that cuts out the white bread, pastry, pies, square sausage, ready meals etc.

if it hasn’t grown out the ground, flew swam or walked don’t eat it. Cut out sugar so no puddings.

  31. One problem for Ronny is he’s not in the clique (Kev J will back me on this! ) – he has no previous history with those ex-players who operate now in the media and he therefore doesn’t get the old pals act support of some others. Take Barry Feguson for example – a useless twunt of a man who never gets criticised. I’d like Pat Bonner and Pat Nevin’s honest opinion of him. Ronny gets it in the neck because it’s easy for them as they won’t meet him at the golf club on a jolly boys outing. Not saying Ronny is perfect – just that he gets no leeway due to his status as “The Other”. In that respect at least, he’s just like the Celtic fans…

TET is indeed from that lovely town and NO I did not do any swinging of any sort whilst there!

Hope you had a great time too!

  33. im absolutely gobsmacked that there are still people defending Ronnie and his backroom staff. I put my hands up and admit that I backed the so called “Ronnie revolution” when he first came on board. You know what….I was wrong….is that whats stopping some people …they cant admit that they like me got it wrong. What is it going to take before he is removed from his post….losing the title ? …Judging by our recent performances I would say the title is by no means a certainty. The whole situation is just plain crazy….he should go now , he has lost the backing of the fans . TBH the only backing I hear him getting is on here CQN . I dont go to many games at the moment but when I do I only here about how far back we’ve come under him , Pals I know who are die hards home and away are of the same opinion and have been for a helluva long time now . Change now and be ready for the Euro campaign ….Ronnie is a nice decent guy but he is not the man ! The Celtic Board need to take their heads out the sand , man up and sort our broken team now before they lose the fans completely
