  1. For those that remain erect in the Last Man Standing competition, the email with the Week 5 fixtures have just been sent out. Apologies for missing my earlier deadline ;-)

  2. Hamiltontim I absolutely agree but he needs to try to get involved wherever he plays. Any thoughts on Cifti now ?

  3. Just watched the Sportscene highlights. Usual fare – none of the incidents appropriately analysed.

The referee is either an idiot or a cheat. There’s no way those pen claims should be missed. Nir Biton’s 2nd yellow was for….errr…….going for a ball

I said at the time that I thought the Ciftci signing was a wtf for me. He’s done nothing to change my opinion mate.

I’d love him to shine in the hoops I just don’t think he’s good enough.

  5. In my opinion Bitton deserved his red card yesterday.

His first yellow was a blatant pull back, which in the rule book is a booking.

His second was a stupid jump into the player when he’d no chance of winning the ball. This was after another challenge which could have resulted in a second yellow.

It was incredibly naive from him I thought.

  6. a light insanity on

Can we start pushing 2016 as an important year to motivate players? Or is that against the law?

  7. Not much mention of Efe’s performance – thought he played well considering the pressure he must feel from all sets of fans now at every game. Briton deserved to go

Eazypeazy IMHO. Anyhoos, I don’t give a feck how many points we win it with, as long as we win it. You are special to “D” and me, a true friend. HH my friend. HH

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Nice to see that wee Keich, Lasley, get a long overdue red card. He was right in the ref’s coupon after the penalty award and no mention of his aggressive approach to the ref.

    Podium on page 25.

I owe this to my continued support from my friends, BMCUW, HH :-))))

Agree about the pull-back dude, but not the 2nd yellow – tame challenge IMHO. Plenty of challenges prior to that which were ignored.

What did you make of the pen. claims?

  13. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Stevie, Efe deserves credit for his performance yesterday. He also won many headers in our box in.the second half.

The amount of people who say he’s worth a goal to the opposition even when we keep a clean sheet, can be annoying.

    Wee fra , welcome back.

  14. Interesting though that the highlights didn’t show Ciftci’s offside goal from an angle that would have resolved the issue.

    Wonder why.

  15. Regardless of where our players are asked to play on the field they should be playing to the best of the ability they were blessed with . If pulling the famous hoops on doesn’t motivate you then that’s disrespecting every fan who comes through the turnstiles to watch the team they love .

  16. NATKNOW

I thought the first one wasn’t and the second one was mate. I can understand argument for/against both though.

  17. Agree with the earlier comment on the excellence of Ciftci’s finish for disallowed goal. Also noted that two good chances – for MacGregor and Griffith – resulted from clever interventions and forwards runs by Johansson. Is one allowed to note the positives about maligned players on here?

  18. glendalystonsils on

The two Pats taking part wholeheartedly in the Sevco lovefest on Sportscene.

Wee Pat reckons Kenny Misser will score loadsa goals next season on the SPL.

  19. I too thought Efe was one of our better performers yesterday. There were 2 occasions that brought the predictable groans from the crowd (though not me). He sclaffed a clearance in the 2nd half – clearly meaning to clear the ball downfield (and probably out of play) it instead went sideways (and out of play). No real harm done – a shy a bit further up the park for Partick. Later in the 2nd half he broke out of defence, went careering down the right wing and after doing the harder bit he passed it infield straight to a Partick player. But, again, no real harm done even though we were stills crambling for any kind of breakthrough.

Efe does not deserve the reputation he has, certainly in relation t the game as a whole. He has made a few memorable individual errors and in the position he plays these tend to be fatal to the team’s chances of success. But too many people, in my opinion, fail to see that the majority of his time on the field is steady and solid. And he does win a very high percentage of arial challenges.

Having made the case for the defence I am reminded of Alan Partridge’s defence of The Titanic –

“Oh yeah, people go on about Titanic, Titanic… Let me tell you something about the Titanic, people forget, people forget that on the Titanic’s maiden voyage there were over 1000 miles of uneventful, very pleasurable cruising before it hit the iceberg!”

  20. My son kept asking me over Christmas to name my current favourite celtic player.

I could not give him one.

I thought of the Lisbon lions, Tommy Burns, Paul McStay,” Dixie ” Deans, Johnny Doyle, McAvennie, countless others and told him that none of todays players are worthy of the shirt !!

Sad I think like that !!

You are a super supporter here on the farm, unfortunately, the boy had to go into the food chain. His son, “yoda” has become a FB Star. He is our pet, “D” bottle fed since he was rejeccted by his mother. I give up. We try our best, some people might nor agree. BTW, Yoda is more obedient than our dugs. Lol and gives Feck. HH

  22. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Hamiltontim, Kieran was pulled back twice in the second half by the Thistle number seven, twice. The ref played s non existent advantage at each instead of stopping play and booking the Thistle player. It’s wee things like that which are warning.

He should also have booked the Thistle defender who blocked Rogic in the second half.

  23. Jobo

I think we saw the good and the erratic of Efe yesterday. As Dallas has pointed out he made a number of good clearances from corners and crosses. He also did well bringing the ball out of defence but was sadly restricted by a real lack of movement ahead of him.

After the game I had a fantastic wee night with CaltonTongues, FGF, Lionsroar67, TGCW and some very old friends down the Gallowgate. We watched the ‘Whitewash’ DVD in Bar67.

Every one of us commented on the fight, passion, movement, effort and desire to win from that Celtic squad in comparison to what we watched yesterday.

  24. I was over from Ireland at the game Saturday. I had the rental car parked on blackfriars so I was making my way swiftly back there to make the flight in plenty of time after the game. To cut a long story short there was about 15 young lads who were walking ahead of me with two police following them and also it dawned on me that the van with about 8 further police officers was escorting them. My car was at blackfriars and they stopped at mcchuils and I presumed they were GB members. The pace of the walk was fairly brisk and I’m certain none were even mildly tipsy. I was thinking that from a tourist or regular pedestrian point of view, with an almost 1:1 police to group ratio logic would dictate that this must be an incredibly dangerous group to warrant this level of attention. Surely this doesn’t happen at every game? If these lads weren’t highly likely to commit a crime between the stadium and the pub then why is there such an escort?

I watched Alpha Papa the other night for the first time. Very good. Loved the scene where he was screaming at the driver in the next lane about having his fog lights on…

  26. So sotty if I offended anyone with my previous post. I know some people are touchy about animal matters. Please ask Celtic Supporters who have visited this area, how we treat our livestock. HH

Things have been difficult for the last 12 months but I’ll try to get up with the girls again mate.

I thought the referee was awful yesterday. However, I was only commenting on the issues that had been raised on the blog mate.

I thought Bitton deserved what he got.

I thought the first penalty issue, wasn’t, but thought the second was.

Overall, the man in black gave us very, very little.
