morning, paul ? if swearing bad aggressive language is not allowed! Why is the cheif nat repeatatly allowed to spout it day after day !!!

    —-

Good morning – yes, sad isn’t it? Man’s inhumanity to man.

Why on earth these characters cannot keep a civil tongue in their head beats me. There is absolutely no problem in disagreeing strongly whilst stating your own case, but some of the vitriol, hatred & swearing is way beyond the pale.

I am someone who has come in for targeted attention from the Cybernats, I now completely ignore them & never read it. Long ago I realised that I would be more concerned if any of them ever agreed with me on ANYTHING.

Nobody expects saintly behaviour when people exchange strongly held views, however the adage for posting on CQN must be that one only says that which they would be happy to say face to face.

  3. The approach to last night’s so called “dead rubber” would have been based on a ‘COST/BENEFIT analysis’ by the manager and his backroom staff, hence the starting line-up. There appeared to be universal agreement among the fans except of course for the silent GB and their fellow travellers in the Trust, who were ‘in a huff’.

Apart from the end result and notable performances of our youngsters, it pretty much ended in disaster with our only fit strikers being injured & sidelined till at least the end of the year. This at a time when the next twenty days could well define our season.

With us scoring so early and hanging on to the lead, Ange probably started to realise that we could get a result – that would have been seen as a BENEFIT. It almost certainly prompted the introduction of Kyogo after injury to the hapless Ajeti. It was a gamble by Ange that misfired to our great COST.

With hindsight Kyogo should not have been risked – the pre-match mindset was right – but it’s not a hanging offence for Ange.

  4. JHB on 10TH DECEMBER 2021 7:35 AM

Agree with all of that but then I’d argue he shouldn’t have even been on the bench – if he had no intention of playing him before kick-off.

  5. My friends in Celtic,

On cool reflection. It’s still a great result against a top class team.

Prior to the game we asked Ange to pick and rotate our fringe players. He duely did so.

I asked how we encourage fans to actually attend the game and support the team; considering the price had already been set and tickets had been sold.

Ange provided the answer. He would play a fringe team mixed with our top players. He would provide entertainment and value for money to those fans who would brave the weather and support his team.

A bold decision and a correct choice if you believe football is an entertainment. Keeping faith with your paying public is the right thing to do and the Glasgow Celtic way.

HH to all, the journey continues.

  6. MARKIEBHOY on 9TH DECEMBER 2021 10:59 PM

    RC

Correct – I wonder if Kyogo would have got on if we were 1-0 down.

Think Ange changed his mind about the game and it cost us,

    —-

Ange was prepared to write last night off and his starting 11 demonstrates that. Like you, I suspect were we a goal or two down when Ajeti went off then Kyogo wouldn’t have been seen.

As it was we were one up and had an hour left to play, Ange wanted something from the game and took a risk with our only remaining striker.

Ange said he had no options because the squad is so pushed, he’ll now have find those options in the competitive games that will make or break our season in the weeks ahead.

  7. Personally thought Stephen Welsh was MoM

    Closely followed by Liam Scales

Many also need to give Mikey Johnston a break

He needs match fitness and confidence back after a bad 2 yeas with significant injuries

Hugely talented Bhoy will come good given the support and chance

  8. Apart from all that has been said about last night’s match (most of which I agree with, even the contradictions!) I think we have now found a corner kick taker, step forward Abada, he delivered more danger and a goal from his 3 or 4 last night than all the previous 30+ from Turnbull, thoughts?

  9. GEEBEE 1978@ 8:08

Agree with all of that but then I’d argue he shouldn’t have even been on the bench – if he had no intention of playing him before kick-off.

    —–

In turn, I agree with you – bit of a puzzler really. A judgement call that went wrong – remember last season the decision to go to Dubai & its consequences finished the 10iar challenge in January. I hope to God the injury fallout this month does not do likewise.

  10. There was no need for our one and only decent striker to be on the bench last night.

    Terrible decision by the manager

  11. GREENPINTA @ 8:08

A number of points well made and, but for the injuries incurred, impossible to argue with – our EL journey has ended in an unexpected win, but at what cost?

Without injuries and Livingston, a season that we started in some disarray, could be exceeding all expectations. As it stands the December ‘acid test’ has just got more difficult.

  12. Had a horrible dream last night.

I dreamt Ange played our only fit striker in a dead rubber and he pulled a hammy.

    Glad I woke up.

That was a nice cup of tea.

Away for a shower. Busy day ahead.

  13. No need to panic or fret, no need at all. There is more than enough talent and resilience in this squad to cope with the remaining December fixtures. Motherwell, Ross County, St Mirren, St Johnstone, and Hibs *2. Those fixtures should all be successfully negotiated.

Perhaps some of us are thinking with our August heads on and not our current one’s. Who would have thought back in August that we would take nine points from that group and score as many goals ?

Leave Corporal Jones to don’t panic on his own.

  14. Maybe that inventor bloke Dyson could stop faffing about with hoovers and hair dryers and come up with a miracle hammy repair machine.

  15. JHB,

Injuries and bad days at the office are what make a season. Since the Livi game (which for a missed penalty could have been different) we have won every game bar the last 10 minute collapse against a very good BL team in Germany.

The b team last night, maybe not as talented, took to the system well and gave us a win, £500k and much needed EUL belief again. I think Abada down the middle, Mikey on the left and maybe James on the right (if fit) will tear them a new one.

January shaping up to be a good one for further Angeball signings.

One game at a time. Jack O’Makis back next week too I believe.

    HH

  16. JIMDOM @ 9:04

No need to panic or fret, no need at all.

I don’t see anyone panicking – what I do see is justifiable concern that three of our top performers, Jota, Ralston & now Kyogo are out at a crucial stage of our season.

Yes, we should have enough depth to see off the likes of Motherwell, Ross County, St Mirren, St Johnstone, and Hibs *2, but we didn’t against Livingston *2, even with the above trio – apprehension is natural, Corporal Jones is still in his dressing-room.

  18. After a troubled sleep — where to start?

The pitch was shocking — greasy / slippy / sodden in equal measure.

Funny how a team from the dry end of Spain handled it better than us.

Seeing NB line up at CB — we were up against it before we started.

He was unsettled by the state of the pitch and was a bombscare all night.

The same could be said about SW — not at the races when they came forward.

Their attack walked around him with ease all night.

OU — dancing lessons required to quicken his feet.

Interesting that he tried to play a better game of football than those around him.

Constructive forward passes / working the wing going forward.

Just a case that the team did not give him enough support.

Turning circle issues on a greasy pitch.

LSc — seemed to have pitch issues as well.

Poor 5 yard acceleration also hurt him at times.

Passing radar a bit wonky in the second half.

However he did a lot of stuff right and did not hold back.

Raw as sushi but he has a heart.

IS — not sure if he struggles to play a very structured game?

Did a lot of good stuff — both defensively and taking us forward.

Followed by the odd pass straight out the park and being a tourist when they attacked.

Something not right — he seems to have diminished under AP’s coaching.

JMcC — he is this season’s SD.

Not adapting well to the game we play.

I don’t think he is used to the scrutiny / the need to win / the constant visibility.

Plus he looks a bit haggard at times that would suggest the X Box is on till 4am.

Too old to learn a new game / new tricks?

Must hurt that JMcA is now the storied EPL player in the ex HA FP roster.

LSh — very slow start / another who struggled with the pitch.

Unfair that he has been here 6 months and this was his starting debut.

Seems to have been a victim of the 3 sub rule — SPL snider that it is.

    Desperately needs more game time.

Too early to say regarding his medium term future.

Needs to find his game head first and then it will become clearer.

    AM — Bambi on ice.

Looked like a 16yr old — fell over at every opportunity.

    Just not in the game.

Has shown some progress at LB going forward.

Showed nothing last night — painful to watch.

EH — Was just as bad as AM playing on the wing.

Showed no fight or desire when the ball came his way.

Totally different in the 18 yard box.

Bit of growing up to do.

    Overall the pitch was shocking.

Our bigger players looked as if they were playing on wet glass.

Our smaller players did their hamstrings.

    Not good.

Finally the howls at AP are not on.

He made a call and it didn’t work.

Get over it — he is still a huge positive for us.

    Too many have short memories.

He needs our support — he has to fight the MIB Ludge / press / media / SPFL sniders on his own.

  19. Our games in Dec are all very winnable.

We don’t need star players to win them — just attitude and application from those in the team that day.

    Jan 2nd game — TFOD2.1 @ CP.

Again totally winnable game at home.

Our issue is not lack of talent it is a lack of leadership / lack of heart and effort / lack of experience.

We need to stop looking for excuses and start looking for improvements across the board.

    You know nothing of mine

Do you agree with the britnat vermin posting their guff here?

  21. MadMitch,

We won. The team was chucked together and hasn’t had much game time, to say the least. Not sure our sample size is big enough for those conclusions yet fella.

The players they played last night are a class above who we play to win the SPFL in terms of speed, technical ability, etc. I thought some of them showed they can be trusted at that local level.

  22. BW @ 10.04

    Performances like last night …

When your luck is in you win 3-2 — your stiffs vs their stiffs.

When your luck is out you lose 4-0 and their GK is the MotM — first team vs first team..

It finished as it started at CP.

Pitch was shocking last night although they handled it better than us ???

  23. I don’t think we should underestimate the achievement last night

With an entire second string starting 11, every player looked comfortable with the style and system. We might be light on numbers in certain positions but at least everyone in the squad looks like they are capable of fitting in when needed.

On that showing that team would finish third in the SPL.

    Very encouraging

  24. Loved last nights game, a Celtic team giving their all and getting a result in a game against a better team, what is not to like

Question, not giving up the League however I have read a lot of stuff about 40m etc, if we finish second do we get a chance to qualify and if so, the money from TV etc gets shared?

  25. Political Post –

But be open with you fascist scummery at the heart of your politics, and when its vomited onto a Celtic blog.

    Fascism.

  29. Their starting 11 included 2 players capped by Portugal, 1 by Argentina, 4 by Spain and 1 by Mexico. 8 of their players had caps from very good national teams

2 of their subs had full caps for Spain

Bercow is wrong about Major though. He was just as dishonest and devious as Johnson when it suited him. He bankrupted Scallywag magazine, suing them for libel over a story they ran that he was having an affair with a caterer, whereas he was having an affair with a Currie.

  31. How many players are out with hamstring injuries? Is there an issue with fitness/ training/ playing style that’s causing a problem?

  32. CAMUSBHOY on 10TH DECEMBER 2021 10:25 AM

2 qualifying rounds and a play off, unfortunately, so three games.

If we move up a place in the co-efficient rankings for the season after we’d have one qf and a play-off. Not impossible given how well both teams have done and that we’re both still in European competition

The difference between Europa League and Champions league qualification isn’t 40m, though. More like 15m. Win the first qualifying round, when we’ll be seeded and we’d be guaranteed EL group stages

Failing to win the league this season isn’t the financial disaster its being painted to be
