If Joe Ledley didn’t want to leave he could have stayed, fair enough, but Joe Ledley would not have been staying for Celtic & Celtic fans Joe would have been staying for Joe Ledley so he could leave on a Bosman like how we got him !

  7. Greenpinata,

    Solution to attract better players

    1. Qualify for the CL

    2. If buying strikers pay the going rate. £1M or £2M for Pukki, Balde , Scepovic ( la Liga B ) with no great track record of scoring.

    3. Utilise the footballing budget properly. Celtics t/o is circa £60M without CL and footballing budget of circa £35M approx 60%. With CL t/o £90 M budget £50M.

    4. Spend all the footballing budget on the first team. 5 or 6 quality players at 40k/ week level. Scaled for the rest. Shut down the academy is doesn’t work. Buy Gauld, Christie, McCarthy as they develop elsewhere.

    5. Be in the CL every year with strategic investment.

    6. Lower the price of season tickets.

Gerryfaethebrig. Love Celtic to bits. I have watched them in every continent in probably over 60 countries. I am a business guy with a budget which dwarfs Lawwells. I detest what he is doing to Celtic and would sack him in a heartbeat. My UK base is not so far from you in Lenzie altho I spend a fair bit of my time in Malahide.

We are allowing a tactical beancounter to run our club into the ground. Lawwell is destroying our club.

  8. What exactly do the Negatonians want the rest of us to do. They are regularly slagging off their fellow fans and telling us that the present Celtic is a corrupt plastic parody of the original Club.

Every fan wants Celtic to be as great as possible, great football, winning trophies, competitive in Europe and financially strong. When it’s not happening or we have a gutless performance like in Malmo we all hurt, but what can we do. Yes we can vent our spleen on the Internet but apart from that we can do feck all.

Each of us can of course make an individual decision to stop supporting the Club, personally it’s something I couldn’t do but I’m sure it happens all the time. I can understand any individual becoming disillusioned but if you feel that way just take a break from it or leave permanently. Why try and spread your discontent and make others become disaffected.

  9. Much discussion post match regarding the validity of the GB banner today. Imo the GB crossed a line. And I have been a big fan of the GB.

Why would a £40k a week player want to come to play in Scotland? We are already over paying our players, our biggest problem is not getting value for money not paying money.

Do you think Brown is really worth his weekly wage? No offence to Brown.

Nothing wrong with GB banner, that’s how it was..And how so many of the greeting mob posted on this site..Ffs, some of you are so fxxken perfect !!!…I posted a few weeks back regarding one match in early 80 v Stirling Albion in Scottish Cup, 1 0 down with 10 mins left… We won 2 1, great atmosphere, supporting the Bhoys.. Remember Hamburg, Sporting, Cologne away to name a few, we lost, we could have done better…Players trooped off at the end without a backward glance ( McNamara excluded ).. We were still there on the Saturday, and for the return leg…, So much bloody moaning… Liverpool hammered 3 0 to a side that could not beat the 3rd placed team from Malta few weeks back… Anyway roll on Istanbul, HH.

  16. I sat in my usual seat today and empty spaces all around me. Faithful through and through. Aye right.

  17. Congrats to Ronny and the team today. Well played.

Congrats to the wee boys of the GB for at least getting the spelling correct. I hope they get those Celtic strips they asked for, also their ipads and their gameboys. Wouldn’t want to hear all those tantrums if they didn’t.

  18. Till later all,

dont know who the KANO foundation had at the game today, but they had a ball, and did themselves proud singing “Glasgows green & white” all the way from the stadium to the buspark behind the Emerites after the game, most of them in full Hoops kits,

it gladdened my heart to see the weans just love The Celtic ,no added demands or conditions of support just The Celtic playing, well done to them the Kano foundation and those that brought the weans.

  19. Moonbeams…….Well done to them.

So i should agree with a wee bunch of wallopers on an ego trip …FUCK THEM!

  20. Thought attendance was poor today. Saturday 3 pm kick off weather fine . Very poor showing from the support today.

  21. Roberttressell….

The hun team died, their support for a new incarnation didn’t.

I hit with the your club died, initially they hung their heads, there is an upsurge of arrogance from thems lately.

I don’t know if you work with with a plethora of thems? I do, I don’t want in a couple of years to be on a level playing field with their new format.

We should be miles ahead but we seem to be opening a door for thems to challenge.

Close it before it bites our arse. HH

  22. Wow, I just can’t get this place sometimes. It’s you pay your money your entitled to your say, then it’s don’t publicly slag the players it gives a bad impression! Really, if you worked with someone who didn’t pull their weight, pissed about, you had to do what they never( I know, bare with me) would you say nothing and just do it! Really, as someone said the other day, football is entertainment, it’s a distraction from our purile controlled existence. But if people pay their money, they are entitled to voice their opinions whether you like it or not. Get over yourselves! I’m from the highlands, on this site we get called teuchters, sheep, you name it, does it bother me, no. I support Celtic, but your nothing but snivelling southern wet eared babies. Dry them grow a set and get a grip. Ashamed that your crying because someone said what they think, sad!!!!

  23. Careful With That Tax, Moonbeams on

MMG .. Seriously, first game at CP .. Big brother took me … That young I can’t remember feck all .. But some Stirling fan in the Celtic end no getting any hassle ..

    Gods honest

  24. ruggygman

The eeejits down the 20 club will tell the attendance the morra from the hunday mail.

  25. Sipsini, truer a word couldn’t be said. They are an irrelevance, watch the ball watch the ball.

  26. The Huddle

Brown is a key player for Celtic and we pay a premium to have him. He was poor in malmo but I was in the San Siro when we lost with 10 men and he ran himself into the ground with the rest of the team.

There are plenty of players in France, Holland, Croatia , Germany who would come to Celtic if we paid the going rate. We sign projects on 15k.

CL qualification is crucial. It’s a vicious circle regarding failure to qualify. Lawwell of course knows this , but is content taking zero risk and hoping for the best.

As Roy Keane said we are a CL club…..however we are run by scottish beancounter who runs the club with an excel spreadsheet.

Lawwell will weaken the Team again this summer.

  28. voguepunter, I’m surprised at your language. Re The Green Brigade, I am a big fan of theirs but I would have preferred if they hadn’t displayed that banner today. They did and those who disagreed and felt offended Booed. Both sets of Celtic Supporters exercised their democratic right to express their opinion and there is no more to be said or done about it.

Whilst I didn’t approve of the banner a public display of frustration might not have been the worst thing in the world either.

  29. I’m fed up listening to so called Celtic supporters who comment on everything Celtic but never actually support the team.

  30. saint stivs

Great show, but Pipeline which is on at 9pm, is even better, and one of the few shows on Radio Scotland that is really worth listening to. They are still covering the recent World Championships, with some on bbci. Do not know if they will feature tonight but look, listen out for the Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band from Dublin, 2015 Scottish Champions and runners up to Shotts in the Worlds in Glasgow. Think they might feature in Dublin in 2016!

  31. Evening awe glad to see the hoops back to winning ways

also glad to see the green brigade

sticking it to the team and board

it’s our right as supporters /fans

If we don’t do this then we disend into

    mediocrity

I also heard the backed the team throughout the game

    take a bow

  32. well done the Hoops for getting back on top today

…and an even bigger one to Barra FC, who won their top of the table clash 3-1 away from home against Iochdar Saints today, giving us a great chance to win out first league title in over forty years.

    mon the Barracelona!

We aren’t a CL club, I know that hurts some on her but it’s a fact we aren’t.

You are right that players from Holland etc are better value but we still seem to pay a premium for players like Brown and Commons (again not having a go at them).

Those 2 players would not get that sort of money if they played in Holland, Portugal even Spain so why do we pay it?

It seems like because the SPL is in the UK we have to whack on £5k extra at least to entice players here.
