I think u are a million miles off the mark.

The green bigrade can express their disappointment, but how dare they put a banner up that criticises the team?

Really?? Probably the team more than anyone that needs a boot up the jacksy. Those players should be ashamed.

Apart from the on loan Serbian, and the experienced forward Rosenberg…it says it all that Berget was their other stand out player. Other than that, Malmo were made up of guys that simply wanted it more. We were GUTLESS

Was disappointed in performance today. Thought we would have came out flying with a point to prove.

Ronny’s use of the word “scared” in the context of the teams’ individual and collective failings against Malmo appears to have metamorphosed into the word “gutless” courtesy of the Green Brigade. Two words, two totally different meanings. Had they reversed the two adjectives they might have been closer to the mark.

  5. Cowie….

ALL the leagues are in the SPFL (Scottish Professional Football League).

Only the best teams are in the Premiership!

The green brigade have been waiting for a chance to go for the Board (I am a Green Brigade fan) Keevins on Clyde today had his wee dig, he said when the fans like the GB turn on the board there is no place for the board to go, I nearly feinted he has never had a good word to say about the GB but as a shock jock why let opinions get in the way of a supposed story…. He is a fool of a journo and plays to whatever crowd (probably me for listening)

We were rubbish on Tuesday…. We won today top of the league and heading to Switzerland, my glass is always half fully in fact it’s usually 3/4 full !

The Blackett deal is a loan only, no option to buy apparently.

Be interesting to see whether he is pitched into the team at LB or CB.

    Top of the league.

Four league title wins in a row.

    You cannot argue with that.

    Sorry.

I would have sacked PL straight after dead club were allowed to gain the first of their last three sham league titles.

That was then though – this is now.

Catch me after Mass tomorrow, and I’ll tell you what I got straight from Joe Ledleys Dad.

My mhate who stays 3 doors up from me ( the Bhoy who had sad business in Cowie yesterday ) had his 4 business seats in exec club, with Joe’s Dad sitting in the seat right next to them.

Agree. That is why we are at a crucial point in our clubs history. The Newco manifestation will be back next year and the whole world will ignore the truth and declare them the same as before. They will have momentum because they’ve had years of nothing but bad news and a glimpse of hope has made them return even though they support a new team.Like most fans I’ve noticed a change in the ones I know.Suddenly social media is full of their comments. A dark presence from the west.A faceless evil moves throughout the land.Apologies to Tolkein.

It hasn’t happened after another big failure. The group were appointed previously. Your Dad is right that it should have been done earlier but better late than never. The main thing is that it is being done.

As for those asking do they know how to run a football club. I don’t think that’s the point. The remit of the group involves making connections with businesses and making legal expertise available to the Club among other things.

The people charged with running the Club are the Board.

    ——–

    Absolutely correct.

The people in this group are Celtic fans who are in positions of global influence and who have agreed to bring ideas and connections to spread the Celtic brand globally. Given all the constraints we have re TV revenues the board should be commended for using these people as ambassadors for the club to widen our horizons.

They do not have any role in running the club.

The person I know is a very high influence person in China, a market we cannot ignore.

  14. I had the pleasure today to meet Paul 67 and his son at CP and he had the good grace to spend a few minutes listening to my inane drivel during which he managed to impart some inciteful comments. An absolute gent.

Thanks GFTB. I did back the thing, luckily enough.

Jamie Spencer tactics worked for a change.

I was one of the people who didn’t make Seville…..if we ever meet I will tell you the story over about 20pints of alcohol or juice….it is a long story, but I have promised myself if we ever make a final in Europe by hook or by crook I will be in the vicinity of the stadium, I have pals who never ventured in old Celtic park or the new stadium who were in Seville…… I wasn’t !

Basel / Basle ….. it’s a dream but sometimes dreams come true !

  18. Apologies for the long post….

No other European Club is effectively guaranteed three champions league qualifiers before their domestic season begins. As a club we are in a very unique and extremely fortunate position in having the opportunity to access millions of pounds each year.

Clubs with budgets that dwarf ours (mainly down south) can only dream of having this opportunity. While we may look upon these clubs budgets to some extent with envy. In comparison our budget likewise dwarfs the majority of clubs we meet in champions league qualifiers.

These facts make our lack of foresight, planning & substandard management even more outrageous.

While many of us are disappointed with the perceived lack of ambition form PL & DD. There is just no getting away from the fact, we most likely spend more per annum than Stjarnen, Qarabag & Malmo combined.

I understand that football isn’t won on paper but any club with an annual budget of £30 million +, should be consistently knocking out teams who’s budget only stretches to around £5 million.

The fact that every qualifier we’ve played (not just this season) is so tight, suggests we are not getting value for money. I mean when was the last time we hammered a European side any side?

Just taking this seasons opponents. Stjarnen should have been roasted at Celtic Park, as should have Qarabag & Malmo. Yet all three clubs escaped with only a 1 goal deficit & the only club we looked like beating away from home were the Icelandic minnows. One result you can put down to a freak result, two a coincidence but struggling against all three teams then something is badly wrong.

I think we are failing on many levels but the manager has to carry most of the blame for our failures. He is blinkered by one system & some of his team selections/ substitutions are baffling.

Having said all that – With the unique position we find ourselves in there are no excuses for penny pinching on player acquisitions.

The Default position that is often chimed out from some posters like SFTB, Auldheid & I’m sure many others is always the same. “We can’t spend £5million on a transfer fee & £5million on wages, do you want to end up like Sevco?” This of course is utter bollocks, as you don’t need to spend such sums to produce an effective team at European qualifier level (Just ask Malmo).

There are plenty of players experienced & raw out there who can make us better, you just have to be clever enough to identify them.

An example of an experienced player we should have gone after this summer –

Esteban Cambiasso left Leicester City on a free transfer and signed for Olympiakos early in this window. Could we have not attracted a player like this to our club?

We were/are desperate for real experience, perhaps Cambiasso would have been beyond our reach wages wise I don’t know but something tells me we never even enquired. No doubts there must be players of similar ability & profile still currently available. Perhaps we’ll sign a couple of them before the window shuts?

Today we signed Tyler Blackett, a player with limited playing time at any level but has a top pedigree coming from Man United. I have no problem signing this type of player, as trying before you buy is a shrewd strategy, as is investing in young Scottish talent. Although if you ask our assistant manager he may not entirely agree with the latter.

JC’s assessment of Scottish players not being sharp enough to take advantage of our mistakes in the league? Must beg the question – Why would we then think these players (by themselves) would be sharp enough for European football?

I guess we have a few days before the window shuts to give such players some help. Hopefully we bring in some much needed experience or that question may become more relevant.

I’ve had the idea that you’re a Castlemilk guy or southside anyway, so I raised an eyebrow at your rather right wing statement. I’m thinking you’re also old enough to remember the Jungle in the 70s where frankly it was a boozed up Ra fest and more, and without the luxury of computer generated banners (jeezus the thought) . However, like the GB, we backed the team to some famous victories, and without that support we’d be worse off. Btw come January v Hamilton or whatever there will be probably 20k empty seats, but none in section 111.

Sad but true! My biggest worry about today’s signing is that he’ll be off next summer if he turns out to be any good. All of this growing players for others/for sale will not get us where the fans want us to be. Like you, many on here have called for some experience. Rosenberg had that and made all the difference for Malmo IMHO.

  24. Gerry….

Absolutely know what you mean :-(

I did go to Seville, stayed for 5 days Fuengirola with my son but no tickets.

Funnily enough I’m the mirror image….I promised myself I definitely would not go again UNLESS I had a ticket!

Will never forget those in our party waving to us as they went to the match while we waited in one of the fan sites about a mile from the stadium.

We had a great time of course but without being at the match….a big big void!

I do think our defence has deteriorated since last season. Certainly the goals conceded and the number of scares would seem to back this up. We are missing that solid centre with Denayer away and VVD unsettled with the transfer talk.

Last competition was a nightmare – loser after loser, week after week. Soul destroying it was lol.

Ye just have to stick at it though. It’s worth it when a winner turns up.
