    Corkcelt: that was heavily advertised a few weeks ago and I intend going. Just not sure which night.

     

     

    GAA Quick News: Dublin won today with two cracking goals and many points to spare. First goal was a cracking counter attack, one of the best GAA football goals I’ve ever seen. The other goal was scored by a past pupil of mine.

    I was in ticket office Saturday morning, mid-day, as I needed 2 new season cards because I lost mine

     

    There was maybe about 20 people in the que, this included 6 young Bhoys in front of me, they were all in buying a Season ticket, taking over 4 or 10 months

     

    I can see this being a sell out season for season tickets ?

     

     

    Now is the Norwegian backroom team all gone or not :-)

    From reading various posts on the Internet,

     

    can it be trusted?

     

    It seems the CM and JF have rejected new contracts.

     

    If this is correct then

     

    Is Charlie still reporting for training? Is he a free agent?

     

    Is he still relevant with the possible signing of Shane Duffy and the assured performance yesterday of Ajer?

     

    For me bid him thanks and farewell. I will always cherish his header against the dead lot.

     

    Should James be given playing time as we move forward and with further Internet rumours of Sinclair, “a speedy winger,” on his way across Beattock to put pen to paper?

     

    For me, relegate him to the bench.

    Far too many pupils…… I appreciate every teacher (even the not so good ones) my mantra is sometimes it’s the only stable adult influence some kids have

    Some thoughts on Saturday’s performance/performers.

     

     

    McConnell, excellent, taking responsibility, good passing out of defence, unnerved by deflection for their goal, dipped a bit thereafter, but a player there if he maintains confidence.

     

    Broonie, several unnecessary fouls trying to impose himself, better farther up the field, I’m not sure.

     

    Armstrong, very, very lightweight, pushed of the ball very easily, but he is a player. Needs to man up but could be brilliant.

     

    McGregor, now a midfield fulcrum. Takes responsibility, moves the play forward, as long as he doesn’t attempt the spectacular pass, keeps it simple, he is a first pick.

     

    Dembele, decent touch and strength, off the ball movement excellent, needs his first goal, will be good.

     

    Lustig, is by far, IMO, our best defender.

     

     

    Griff is Griff, Paddy is Paddy, Gordon is Gordon, Erik is Erik, KT is KT. Starters for sure.

     

     

    Ciftci put in a shift and looked capable.

     

    Allan had a good game, dictating play from deep, showing good vision and ability to play a pass. Will benefit from an extended run in the team, which he will not get because he has the Efe gene, liable to attack into a goal scoring opportunity for the opposition. I like him and would give him a run in the hope that he creates more than he gives away. We always have one, Tommy Callaghan, Thommo.

     

    Rogic, brilliant skill but painfully slow, always wants to play pure football; can we afford that? Yes at times, no at times.

     

    Christie, yes, a trier, will give his all, skillful and hungry. Not first pick every week, but will do a job, especially once he grows a bit.

     

    Ajer, too early to judge as played out of position.

     

    Fisher and Janko, back up at best.

     

     

    Anyway, what do I know but it is a football post.

     

     

    The golf, btw, was absolutely fantastic. Henrik and big Phil, what a brillant display of sport at the highest level. Just totally awesome.

    Gerry: You are right, more than you will ever believe. I am lucky. I teach in a school where I encounter few classroom problems. Most of our students go on to a reasonable level of success. However, the excellent BBC programme EXODUS puts everything into perspective.

    It remains to be seen if the club has held back any sections apart from those for opposition fans.

     

     

    A total sell out would eliminate any ability to honour the 2 free tickets for SPFL games. I am not sure what the small print regarding this offer is. Could be subject to availability.

     

     

    Whatever, getting back to full houses will be brilliant.

     

     

    I couldn’t make it yesterday as we were moving my daughter’s furniture and possessions to her new flat but I am starting to look forward to the new season now.

     

     

    Glad I bought my seat (before Brendan was appointed )

    Sorry for not coming back earlier, I’m just back in.

     

    A positive about Zagreb is they have produced a large number of top players over the years. Hopefully Jozo is in that category.

     

    I’ve spent a good bit of time looking at Niko Kranjčar’s transfer to Hajduk Split and a number of other transfers and it isn’t pretty.

     

    Fingers crossed.

    Had this conversation with HT when I first joined Cqn, young niece couldn’t get a placement up here and had to move to London, she was in her early very early 20s, Wembley to be exact, the poorest of the poor, very few of the kids even spoke english, I know for a fact a teacher is sometimes the only adult contact some of these kids have……. I felt helpless because I thought she was the wee lassie going to the big smoke !

     

     

    Anyway…..she is still teaching but at least back up here…..

     

     

    Still love my sheltered life :-)

    I don’t know about the physio side of things. I suppose all vacancies have to be advertised. When you think of it, it’s a key appointment.Especially given the rumours about players being brought back too quickly last season.

    My comments have been few and far between recently due to a series of summer ailments.

     

    Almost back to half fitness, full fitness is a dream long past, so I will try to resume my update duties come Wednesday.

     

    My thumbs and forefingers are getting ice baths daily to have them regain some form of flexibility.

     

    The ice bath claim may or may not have any basis in fact.

    Thought I’d share this with all of you….heartbreaking….my daughter teaches in the Govanhill area. Not one kid in her class is Scottish, (British). On the day we decided to leave Europe her pupils were leaving school early for the summer holidays. Their parents had been told to come and collect their kids 3 hours earlier than normal. A few asked if they were now getting a bus to take them to the airport. They thought because we had voted to leave Europe they were immediately being deported…………

    Maybe he fancies a season in a slower placed league?

     

    As for James, I’d only play him against lower division opposition.

    Any player who has a short time left on contact and dithers about resigning should be sold.

     

    Rogic. Johansen and Forrest are all good players but expendable in an area we have an abundance.

     

    Raise as much in sales and use the money to bolster our funds for a strong defensive leader and an experienced defensive mid.

     

    Our football department should understand the legacy of Bosman and need for constant planning and change without sentiment.

    My CQN badges are still in the the wee plastic pocket things along with with the cufflinks, the badges were looked out today as they are getting put on the old Celtic baseball cap for the holidays, if any Cqner is in Santa Ponsa for the Barca game I will have the CQN badges on my Celtic rounders cap (so ma baldy head doesn’t get burnt) I will buy the first round in the Celts Well….open to all

     

     

    CRC hopefully get a beer at some point will let that Swindon guy arrange something

    Got a laugh at the “celebrations” on season ticket sales on CQN.

     

     

    What are we celebrating?

     

     

    The return of the old from and our seat at the back of the bus?

     

     

    The triumph of law wells bonus?

     

     

    The clear lack of change in the Celtic boardroom on strengthening the team?

     

     

    Our defeat against the imps (the worst defeat in our history)?

     

     

    Or our own stupidity?

     

     

    I don’t recognise Celtic anymore. I am beginning to not recognise Celtic supporters anymore.

     

     

    It’s funny when things you thought were permanent turn out to be transient.

     

     

    Still at least i can continue to experience racism as I have my entire life in Scotland.
