Sponsorship income is harder and harder to find so securing an improved shirt deal, while others flap to secure lesser deals, is a genuine result for the Celtic commercial team. Irish cider maker, Magners, will have their name of the Celtic shirt for three years from this summer.
This will be the first time Celtic does not share the name on their shirts with another Scottish club since the 1990s, apart from a brief period during 2012, in the weeks between Rangers being assigned to liquidation and a successor coming into existence.
The significant amount of coverage outside Scotland as a result of this season’s Champions League qualification will no doubt have contributed to Magners’ decision, as will the reputation of Celtic fans to toast their Irish heritage in good nature.
Let’s hope club, fans and sponsor can work to make this a long and successful partnership.

Obviously I can’t put myself in the mindset of a player in scotland, but ffs, what must some of them feel when they know they are subjected to different rules than the opponents.
It must be demoralising for them, maybes the likes of Ki Paddy, Sammi, Aiden arny strong enough to handle the treatment they get, knowing fine well, if they did they same as was being done to them resulted on them getting sent off.
I know Ki was invisable probably for 50% of the time he was with us, and imo, I put a fair % of that down to the lack of protection.
You yourself posted the other day about names being drawn out of a hat at the sfa, you know fine well what we are up against.

Why are the manky mob mentioned in the transfer news when they are banned from transfer activity?

It’s a long time since I drove that route, but as far as I remember there really only is one road to take and it’s not quick.

I hope we all take a leaf out our board and managers book from now on…
No matter what happens in the HMRC appeal
No matter what comes from lord nimmos investigation …
It doesn’t matter a jot!
IGNORE EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM.
Rangers football club died in the summer!
They are shamed, dirty and their reputation worldwide has been tarnished beyond repair.
The only thing shiny new servco 5088
Have is the oxygen that WE breathe into the corpse by acknowledging them .
They come out with statements solely to rouse their followers with buzz words to merely stimulate them enough to buy into chuckles dream ..
He needs them to fund the shiny club Until they reach the top flight once again ….
But interest and the newcos fans funds are starting to dwindle …
Therefore they constantly require the adrenalin shot to stimulate our reaction in order to galvanise their own support by getting it right up timmy!
As from today …
Ignore them…
They are an IRRELEVENCE to us .. For at least 3 years …
When they get back to the SPL they will be damaged beyond repair and debt ridden …
Our club will be so far ahead that the pain of facing us will be in the shape that we faced in the late 80s and 90’s during their success built on spending money that they could not repay.
Forget them ! Back our club
Our beautiful club with 125 years of unbroken history .
Hail hail

I didn’t think that the League Cup provided a Euro spot?
Seem to recall anyway that when Cardiff reached the FA Cup final a few years back, they were told that they wouldn’t get an English euro spot even if they won…

Now we are talking about something different.
Real quality costs serious money, the finished artical does, the potential costs the market we are in, some will make it, some won’t.
At the end of the day, there is no getting away from the lack of protection our players are afforded.

TET,
What about Vic ?
Real quality didn’t cost that much but he came here and proved his quality without the protection, there are plenty of sand dancer out there we don’t need them.
Any quality player will get hammered in every competition they play in its how it works, the better the player the more they get. If players turn up thinking they are too good to take it for Celtic then they can go take a flying copulation at the moon.
League Cup still gets entry into Europa League – that’s how Liverpool got into this years Europa League after finishing 8th – depriving Everton, again, a place in Europe.
All together now. Follow the bouncin ball. o))

UEFA distribute the Euro places to the FA’s who allocate them to their respective competitions. If the League cup down south has an English EL place attached to it it should go the team that wins it, be that a Welsh team or not.
Could be an interesting test for the future.

Congratulations to the club on the new sponsorship deal.
I noticed that PL said that the financial redistribution within the game is costing us more than we receive from it.
Hmmmm…
Shooooorly he means it is costing us more than the improvement in terms received.
I really canny imagine the club voluntarily giving up c£2m a year.
Prepared to be proven wrong though.
I can just see P67 article tomorrow ….Laudrup takes the Lennon route..how do you copyright ?
Talking about League Cup – did you know that the winners of the Scottish League Cup receive more prize money than their English counterparts?
In fact, prize money for losing the semi-final in Scotland is only £2k less than losing the League Cup final in England.

As I said, the topic was well aired down here when Cardiff got to the FA Cup Final and the answer seemed to be an emphatic “no”…the assumption being that the spot would just be reallocated to the next club that would qualify via the league table.
Of course, English FA thinking might change – but the Welsh FA also have their own Euro spots and that seems to muddy the waters.
Seem to recall that years ago, Cardiff, Swansea etc. used to compete in the Welsh FA Cup – and that used to provide entry into the old Cup Winners Cup – but that avenue seems to be closed to them also?

Right the blog is very quiet so I can sneak this in.
Bloody well done PL on the deal with Magners – top quaility getting that deal. Also well done on supporting the league changes – good. Also was chuffed at the wee dig I heard him have at the huns – when asked about Green’s nonesense he pointed out the new sponsorship deal, being in the last 16 of CL and said he would worry about “little things” – excellent.
Right then none of you will notice this praise and I can get back to my persona….

Vic would be the exception.
As I said in my last post, some will make it, some won’t.
I agree that if they think they are good enough, and don’t put the effort in, then they can go and take a flying duck to themselfs.
Just to humour me, I would wager that Messi wouldn’t be half the player he is if he was playing in scotland, neither would Innesta nor would Xavi, and maybes if they had to endure scottish refs week in week out, they would consider giving up the game, but in saying that, they have the mental toughness that the likes of Ki doesn’t have, as I said, we are in the gutter when it comes to signing players, we will unearth the likes of Vic now and again, but we will have to go through a few failures to find him.
Ki will find his place, it may well be the epl, scotland wasn’t for him.
