Cheers, Magners

920

Sponsorship income is harder and harder to find so securing an improved shirt deal, while others flap to secure lesser deals, is a genuine result for the Celtic commercial team.  Irish cider maker, Magners, will have their name of the Celtic shirt for three years from this summer.

This will be the first time Celtic does not share the name on their shirts with another Scottish club since the 1990s, apart from a brief period during 2012, in the weeks between Rangers being assigned to liquidation and a successor coming into existence.

The significant amount of coverage outside Scotland as a result of this season’s Champions League qualification will no doubt have contributed to Magners’ decision, as will the reputation of Celtic fans to toast their Irish heritage in good nature.

Let’s hope club, fans and sponsor can work to make this a long and successful partnership.

  1. Unbelievable we can still find excuses to moan about PL and the board today. Even if the deal was paying ten boab and a pint of cider I’d be happy enough knowing they have listened to the fans and taken steps to end the association with the tribute act.

Smile all you mineshafters, today is a good one!

are you having a laugh, the dugs have been barking on the streets that C&C owns both all day

  3. The Long Game.

Celtic’s path to another league is blocked at several junctions.

Celtic believe that they can manoeuvre there way to the promised land.

They believe that UEFA will support there journey IF they have the blessing of the SFA and the other Scottish clubs.

The key aspect therefore to the promised land is gaining the support of the other clubs in Scotland.

    Turkey’s don’t vote for Xmas.

The other Scottish clubs , do not want to lose “The gravy boat” that Celtic provide.

The Turkey’s need to know that they will survive and prosper without “The gravy ” that Celtic provide.

They need to be instilled with the confidence to go on without Celtic.

If Celtic are to reach the promised land they will have to drip gravy into the boat. The others will not have to do without the gravy Celtic provide, infact Celtic will give them more gravy than they have ever had.

The more Gravy Celtic have , the more they can share.

Where will Celtic get this extra gravy?

From the TV revenues that the promised land provides.

They can then make compensation payments to the clubs that they left behind.

Payments that will give those left behind enough confidence to make their own gravy.

Celtic have given away some gravy.

It is part of The Long Game.

Dermot Desmond,Peter Lawell and our board have taken the first steps on Celtics journey to the promised land.

    They are to be commended.

It does not matter what your post name is it seems, the provocative style remains.

Your revelation may seem earth shattering to you but you have totally misread the naivety of this site.

In short, we all know that.

Let’s wait and see who Sevco get to sponsor them next year and how much they make. And if it is another branch of the Tennants brands or a related company, it will still be a move on from having the same name on both our strips.

I’ve read the a tennants deal much reduced compared to current one has been offered …

I’ve read here that chuckles berated a c&c rep ate servco £700m sopporo

  7. 67 heaven ?

Was it not jabba who broke the £700m sopporo super dome to replace servco park?

  9. When last joint sponsorship was done the Tennants Brand was owned by the Belgian Brewers In-Bev. In late 2009 C&C bought the Tennants Brewery from In-Bev. In other words C&C never entered into any sponsorship deal with the dead Club. Whether they continue the Tenant deal after this year remains to be seen.

    Malc,

It’s their job to get finances and sponsorships in place, it’s no their job to turn on the support, there’s alway something to moan about, just cause we’ve stopped for a wee while does not mean we have forgotten or take our eye off the ball. Laughing at hun2 is something we can all do together, innit.

I would bet the mortgage that Magners will never appear on a The Rangers shirt for a whole variety of reasons – or will this be their first Republic of Ireland signing? :)

On a more serious note, Magners is a truly UK wide brand with frequent adverts on English telly. Tennents as a brand probably doesn’t make it beyond STV,

Even if The Rangers ended up with a new Tennents deal, it’s very much a fourth tier relationship while we seem to be on the up…

  15. Corkcelt …. Bait for jabba?

Prehaps Celtic shout write an article describing how tennants deal was the last ever joint deal between the two Glasgow giants before rangers football club died?

  16. The Honest Cover-up on

    West CSC

Relax, sevco will not have an Irish brand on their jersey. They may get tennents again in exchange for a couple of free cases for the staff. There will be no multi million pound shirt deals done down that way.

The “old firm” brand is dead. Today confirmed that.

We are distancing ourselves from the new club in every way we can. Sevco in the SPL would be a threat to our champions league cash, especially with our domestic form! Lawwell knows that and wants to keep them down. Get used to life without them. It’s nice, enjoy it!
