Cheers, Magners

920

Sponsorship income is harder and harder to find so securing an improved shirt deal, while others flap to secure lesser deals, is a genuine result for the Celtic commercial team.  Irish cider maker, Magners, will have their name of the Celtic shirt for three years from this summer.

This will be the first time Celtic does not share the name on their shirts with another Scottish club since the 1990s, apart from a brief period during 2012, in the weeks between Rangers being assigned to liquidation and a successor coming into existence.

The significant amount of coverage outside Scotland as a result of this season’s Champions League qualification will no doubt have contributed to Magners’ decision, as will the reputation of Celtic fans to toast their Irish heritage in good nature.

Let’s hope club, fans and sponsor can work to make this a long and successful partnership.

  1. The Magners deal is just the extension of the current deal with CC is it not? It’s the same company just a different brand. Or have I got that wrong??

    Sorry to hark back to my bug bear, but Ki was never allowed to play football in scotland, had he been protected like he is in england, we would imo, seen a very different player.

    No one really knows the position at Ipox, and there in lies the heart of the matter.

    Their opaque finances and the noise from Chals to fill the vaccine tells the tale.

    If you take the football out of it and you woke up and had Chals as your CEO then your CV would be in edit mode. A bunch of failures messing up a shoe-in.

    I agree. We will not get reparation. But there is more than one way for amends to be made and it’s not always financial. Ultimately the benefits may well be valuable. And if everyone is a winner then superb!

  10. Been lusking since 6 but can I just say thanks to all my fellow CQNrs for keeping me thoroughly entertained this evening. It’s been quite a while since I read every evening post but tonight was of a particularly high standard.

    Enjoy the rest of the evening. Some of us have to get up early for our ‘other job’…;-)

  12. The Honest Cover-up on

    Ever since Jabba and Chucky slated the reconstruction proposals the rest of Scottish football has taken a real shine to the idea.

    However, perhaps Sevco are bluffing and are cleverly manouvering opinion this way so they can sneak through fast tracked at the last minute.

    Or perhaps he is just an angry con man raging that he won’t be able to convince his stupid customers to shell out for hiked price season tickets to watch the same crap all over again.

    I know where my suspicions lie!

  13. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    TET,

    Give it a rest, like Swansea we found out he never turned up for most games, fair enough he was good when he wanted to play but he was posted MIA too often, Swansea probably just see him for the first time tonight, he’s no exactly made much of an impression has he.

  14. I think Challs is just talking pash,to create a story to try and put our Magners deal in the shade,but as we all know it is cold in our shadow.

  15. Good to see the Percy French lyrics of “Slattery’s Mounted Fut” getting an airing. My da had that single.

    Here’s another example of Oul Percy’s genius with a song Lyric

    Later On (lyrics by Percy French)

    When we’re children at our lessons, it is beautiful to think

    Of the good time that i’s coming later on;

    When we’ve done with silly copybooks “and ‘horrid pens and ink,

    What a.. lovely time is coming later on!

    The rivers of New Zealand, the mountains of Peru,

    The watersheds of Europe, and the tribes of Timbuctoo,

    All the facts without the fancies, all the tiresome and true,

    Will be nowhere in that lovely later on..

    We’ll forget the foolish fables that were written by Fontaine, In the pleasant time that’s coming later on;

    At those twelve times twenty ‘tables we will never look again, In the lazy time that’s coming later on;

    The date of Magna Carta, the plot they called “the Rye,”

    The counties that are bounded by the Humber and the Wye,

    We may not quite forget them, but we mean to have a try

    In the lazy time that’s coming later on.

    Oh’ my optimistic hero, there are lessons you must learn,

    In the queer time that is coming later on;

    And the masters and examiners you’ll find at every turn,

    In the hard times that are coming later on.

    Miss Fortune is a governess who’ll teach you many things,

    A tutor called Experience will moderate your flings,

    You’ll learn how men make money, and you’ll learn that it has wings

    In the strange times that are coming later on.

    Then you’ll meet the radiant vision who is all the world to you (You’ll attend her mother’s lectures later on);

    You’ll learn that what’s enough for one is not enough for two,

    Nor enough for half-a-dozen later on.

    No, the work is never ended, though for holidays you crave,

    There are pop-guns to be mended for the Robbers in the Cave.

    You fancy you’re the master, but you find that you’re a slave

    To a curly-headed tyrant later on.

    And so through all your lifetime you are longing for the day,

    The lovely day that’s coming later on;

    When pens and ink and copybooks will all be laid away,

    And that day is surely coming later on.

    For when you’re really tired, having done your level best,

    When the story’s nearly ended, and the sun sets in the West,

    Then you’ll lie down very gently, and the weary will find rest,

    And I fancy we’ll deserve it — later on.

    Later on, later on,

    Oh what many friends have gone,

    Sweet lips that smiled and loving eyes that shone

    Through the darkness into light,

    One by one they’ve winged their flight And perhaps we’ll play together —later on.

  17. The Honest Cover-up on

    Ps maybe we now know why Chucky was so keen to push through his share issue before Christmas…

  18. As I said the last two nights ….

    Some on here make constant noises of regarding their unhappiness of our current board members .

    Me? I have always stated what a wonderful job they are doing.

    Today’s news is merely another feather in the cap ….

    Plans have been made … And stuck to.

    Budgets have been followed , and a structure has be implemented which is consistently producing results on and off field .

    RANGERS ARE AN IRRELEVENCE TO OUR CLUB

    IGNORE THEM .

    This season on and off field will be the most successful in our history , and that’s without shiny servco 5088.

    I genuinely think a bigger sponsorship deal is on the horizon in the shape of stadium naming rights ….

    Now! Add into the mix a stadium advertising a brand in time for the commonwealth games?

    I expect an eight figure sum !

    Well done Celtic

    Hail hail

  19. canamalar

    I will not give it a rest >)

    Our players are getting the crap kicked out of them week in week out.

    You had a low opinion of Ki, fair enough, I always thought he was good enough.

    He is in a new league, a league with much better quality, and for the past few weeks he seems to be finding his feet, the same feet that was taken from him time and time again in scotland.

    Maybes if players like Paddy got a bit more protection, he would be playing every game.

    Tis all about opinions hermano.
