Commons touch and experience needed

1348

I was pleased Ronny Deila fronted up for the press conference yesterday. He didn’t say anything particularly revealing but it was reassuring that the pressure of the last week hasn’t seen him hide from searching questions.

Mention of clear the air talks at Lennoxtown was welcome. It lets us know that the fans are not the only ones who believe the ‘air’ hasn’t been right recently. It will also, hopefully, have given anyone harbouring a grievance to get it out.

One of the manager’s biggest decisions for Sunday is who to trust in midfield. He needs players who will respond to the circumstances, and who can open what will be a packed defence. Guys who have been over the ground before, who know how to dig deep in the face of adversity, are also required. For me that means a start for Kris Commons.

Commons is yer man. But like many footballer’s they have lost all perspective on who they really are – just another guy who happens to be in a cashed-up job. They unfortunately think that they are somehow important too.

    Time for the dreaded list!

    Penalty takers.

    Shite,shocking or shoor-fire goal.

I’ve seen plenty of each,I reckon Mark Reid was the best in my day, followed by Roy Aitken.

    Might be biased. Same school…

I recall Roy,tendency to fire down the middle. Jim Leighton,well-coached,stood up to one of his penalties.

He ended up in the net as well!

Just have a wee doubt of the credentials of the hun poster JJ.

He is a bit too eager to tell it like it is in relation to the hun refs.

Now…we all know what he says about the MIB is spot on.

But the extent of his revelling in the cheating makes me suspicious.

Wouldnt sevconians rather gloss over how they intend to cheat?

    Double-Bluff?

Its a bit strange for him to be strident against the corrupt glib one, and yet at the same time wallow in the sevco cheating.

  6. Strategy for any leader when the troops are peeved:

Isolate them by calling them into your office one by one for a heart to heart.

Their rants and body language will tell you where they stand, with regards to you and the organization.

Before they leave, look them in the eye and ask them: “are you for or against my leadership going forward- yes or no?”

Wait two weeks, then fire two of the trouble makers.

    Instant attitude adjustments all round.

    Always worked for me.

Rangers have been forced to send out a request for fans to return Petrofac Cup final tickets that were sent out accidentally.

The administrative error saw a number of fans, thought to be around 1000, receive double the allocation they requested. So those that asked for one ticket got two, two received four and so on, at no extra cost.

To make sure the tickets end up in the right hands, Rangers are asking those who’ve been given more than their share to send them back to the club.

A club statement read: “As many of you well know and disappointingly have attempted to take advantage of our inability as an organisation to count a large number of ticket orders for the Petrofac Training Cup final on Sunday 10 April have been duplicated.

“Those supporters who have been affected have been sent a second class postage-paid envelope and requested to return duplicated tickets. Any attempt at humour by returning them in a larger than provided envelope will not be deemed funny as we will be charged unnecessarily by the Post Office

“The club would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Coming to a stadium near you soon.

“On the terracing at the Dalmornock end on Saturday there was congregated a gang, thousands strong, including the dregs and scourings of filthy slumdom, unwashed yahoos, jailbirds, night hawks, won’t-works, ‘burroo barnacles’, and pavement pirates, all, or nearly all, in the scarecrow stage of verminous trampdom. This ragged army of insantitary pests was lavishly provided with orange and blue remnants, and these were flaunted in challenge as the football tide flowed this way or that. Practically with out cessation for ninety minutes or more, the vagabond scum kept up a strident howl of the ‘Boyne Water’ chorus. Nothing so designedly provoking, so maliciously insulting, or so beastially ignorant has ever been witnessed even in the wildest exhibitions of Glasgow Orange bigotry…..Blatantly filthy language of the lowest criminal type assailed the shocked ears of decent onlookers. There was no getting away from it, chanted as it was by thousands of voices in bedlamite yells. The stentorian use of filthy language is a crime against the law of the land. Policemen lined the track and listened to the hooligan uproar, yet nothing was done to stop it. The scandal was renewed with increased violence in London Road after the match. Is it possible the blue mob can do just anything and get away with it? Prompt official steps were taken to suppress and prosecute the green brake-club lads who dared to sing ‘The Dear Little Shamrock’ in Paisley Road. Yet thousands of foul-mouthed and blasphemous Orange ruffians are free to run amok over the East End of Glasgow. How do you account for it?”

  15. This prompts two questions :

    1. Which Kris Commons ? This years Kris, or Kris at his best ?

    2. In which position ?

I’m not sure if this seasons performances from Kris are a result of him being just poor or as a result of him being played out of position !

The only position I think he can play is off the main striker, not wide right or wide left. Still not sure though if he is good enough for a position in the team.

I dont care who plays against Morton what I care about is that they show 100% commitment for me we have not seen that in our last two games for whatever reason. Morton are a dangerous opponents they showed that with a fine 0-3 defeat of Hibernian recently so it will be a real cup tie and not for the faint hearted.I believe we can win and win well but only if we have the right attitude. 23. I am dreadig Sundays line up,as for me its RDs last chance. If he cannot see that his favourites are letting him down badly, week in week out, then there is no hope for him.On Sunday,as other posters have said,we should line up with Allan,Roberts,Christie,in the team.I would put Broony and Biton in with them,in Broonys case, reluctantly. He looks a shadow of himself, but if he is up for it,he is a real driving force.

I fear though, that once again we will be watching Armstrong,Johansen,Mulgrew, all good players, but for one reason or another, have done nothing this season.

As I said, last chance for me,although I wont be joining any “Ronnie out”bandwagon, like some idiots, who the fek is going to come in for the last 10 games of the season? and seamlessly take over?.We MUST support the manager, the team,at least until the season is over. After that is the time to see what can be done.

The “Manager out now”brigade have no idea who would step in.
