Commons touch and experience needed

1348

I was pleased Ronny Deila fronted up for the press conference yesterday. He didn’t say anything particularly revealing but it was reassuring that the pressure of the last week hasn’t seen him hide from searching questions.

Mention of clear the air talks at Lennoxtown was welcome. It lets us know that the fans are not the only ones who believe the ‘air’ hasn’t been right recently. It will also, hopefully, have given anyone harbouring a grievance to get it out.

One of the manager’s biggest decisions for Sunday is who to trust in midfield. He needs players who will respond to the circumstances, and who can open what will be a packed defence. Guys who have been over the ground before, who know how to dig deep in the face of adversity, are also required. For me that means a start for Kris Commons.

Something came into my mind today when trying to make sense of things…

How much we have missed Van Dijk this season. He wasn’t perfect but he held things together in domestic football at least, and was great going forward. Young Denayer was good too but VVD especially. Maybe Ronny was just lucky to have him last season.

  4. I want to take over from Ronny. My first day would be a meeting with all players and my question would be, who of you WANTS to play for Celtic. The door is over there for those who don’t.

2nd day would be , those who will not give 100%, the door is over there for those who won’t.

Anyway , it ain’t gonna happen.

Sunday, shit or bust. Play the young guns from the start, tell them to enjoy themselves and don’t worry if we lose, it’s gonna work I tell you

Off to stick a few needles in my eyes

And though not in the ‘Directors Box’, but just below Moontan Hately, you will find our very own Neil Doncaster. In good company it has to be said.

THE EXILED TIM on 4th March 2016 7:32 pm

So, Sevco reckon Gary Harkins ‘new club’ comments were ‘ill informed’, as they put it.

Ill advised maybe, for Gary and his family safety, but certainly not ill informed.

Unless of course you rely on the likes of Doncaster or Traynor for your information.

The most telling thing after Wed was Paul Hartley saying we out thought Celtic with our formation. That sums it up for me. As I’ve said before, Ronnys intransigence will be his downfall. Any clued up manager with a reasonable squad of players knows how to set up to give us a difficult time.

Playing 3 players who are not match fit Brown, Mulgrew and Rogic and a completely out of form player, Armstrong, in the same starting 11,defies logic.

As for the fans playing their part, there is obvious merit in that, however what about the players given the fans something to sing about. It’s a double edged sword, in my opinion, almost every game K.T. puts most of the others to shame. It’s pretty obvious to me some players are cheating, by that I mean cheating their teammates as they are not given 100%. and by definition cheating their manager and the fans. Fans being abusive to the manager and certain players helps no one, in my opinion, but even if I don’t agree with it I can see why it’s happening.

    Hail Hail

Would really love to Dundee horse that mob tomorrow, quite a few good guys in their ranks, McGinn, Harkins. O’Dea, McPake, Gerry Creaney.

  14. Eddie you are right to blow of steam, don’t apologise for what you watched on Wednesday night I was there myself and felt like crying, for what Lawell and Co have done to our club, what gets to me is there must be plenty of Fans in the Main Stand who carry a lot of weight, don’t say much about the coaches and players and for one of them to really critical of the Celtic Board then maybe we would see plenty of changes

  15. Look on the bright side. If you go on Sunday your chances of winning the Paradise Windfall will increase by at least 100%.

I am forced to agree with playing some of the ‘old hands’ despite the feeling that they have been behind some of the dressing room unrest.

If the team was flying at the moment, and the stadium atmosphere was buzzing, I would love to see the youngsters playing and thriving in that atmosphere.

The way things are at the moment though with all the anxiety and negativity around, it might do more harm than good.

    Exiled Tim

Another impartial article from BBC Scotland.

I’m sure it was Auldheid who recently pointed out that if thems happens to qualify for Europe (god forbid) by virtue of winning the Scottish cup then they will have to apply for a license. Going by past experience the SFA will open all doors required.

However he pointed out that any application would have no connection to a club (with previous) who owe millions in unpaid taxes.

Something you won’t read in the Scottish msm.

  20. Its is getting to crunch time with all this stuff about being the same club, there has been no legal judgement on this same club and history as far as I know, liquidation as it says in that BBC report means end of the club, Scottish football cannot continue to ignore these attempts to pretend they are they same as RFc 1872-2012, and its not as Regan tried to say its a matter of opinion it is NOT,

it is a matter of fact they were liquidated and the assets bought by Green.

Yesterday I had a brief conversation with someone who knew I was a Celtic fan, he would not accept that the tax owed was anything to get annoyed about Celtic do it as well said he, he could not give any examples of this, he then went on about Amazon Starbucks etc, they could not care less about what has been done and who done it, I finished by saying if it were any other club in Scotland they would be screaming about this every day through their friends in the media, he did not reply.

That wouldn’t be the James McPake who managed to put himself out for the rest of the season after a horrific ‘tackle’ on John Rankin against Dundee Utd at the New Year would it? Rough justice I know.
