Commons touch and experience needed

I was pleased Ronny Deila fronted up for the press conference yesterday. He didn’t say anything particularly revealing but it was reassuring that the pressure of the last week hasn’t seen him hide from searching questions.

Mention of clear the air talks at Lennoxtown was welcome. It lets us know that the fans are not the only ones who believe the ‘air’ hasn’t been right recently. It will also, hopefully, have given anyone harbouring a grievance to get it out.

One of the manager’s biggest decisions for Sunday is who to trust in midfield. He needs players who will respond to the circumstances, and who can open what will be a packed defence. Guys who have been over the ground before, who know how to dig deep in the face of adversity, are also required. For me that means a start for Kris Commons.

A lot of criticism flying around just now, the usual players getting it in the neck and other’s somehow managing to stay under the radar. Personally I would like to have seen us nurture the likes of Barry Robson instead of going along with everyone’s favourite captain, Broonie. He’s not captain material, stupid bookings and red cards, can’t pass, rarely scores, no positional nouse to speak of. On the plus side he’s a good character, a great laugh and we all love him. Give me a Roy Aitken every time

  2. For 5 seasons the chant “greig must stay” could be heard from Celtic fans all over the country, he was a breest and we all knew it. When he did eventually “resign” he walked intae a job as a pundit with, surprise surprise, the beeb.

PLG was seen as an infiltrator by the Celtic support and although we laughed at him we were more than happy when we left.

mcsleekit the legned was a dream for us, “your just a fat PLG” we chanted and were happy tae see him delude the evil ones.

The mullet was another bengal lancer and again we loved him in charge for the brief time he was there.

Even warbo is another that disnae cause us any sleepless nights.

So if Ronny is that poor why are the msm so desperate for him and big gas meter to get the sugar lump. If things are that bad at Parkheid they should be begging them to stay.

    I’m missing something here.

    Mr Pas try

I feel you are confusing 2 completely separate issues there

If we were liquidated celtic fc would die but the achievements of that club would be it’s history which would have ended that dark day

The trophies etc would be sold as part of a deal that would probably include the stadium etc. Assuming the new owners of these assets keep them at celtic park they would do so

Talk of the old huns having titles etc removed from their old history is due to cheating on their part but the replica trophies are just replicas

Who one earth would have Roy Aitken

He was a big gallut, no brain no football ability and yet he is heralded as a Celtic great, feck me one free kick in a cup final makes up for his inability as a player and a leader . Another who left for the coin.

Dean Ford and the Gaylords. Dean Ford = Tommy Mcliesh. (Sp) Last heard of being a chauffeur in the ole USA. Rhythm guitarist for the Gaylords was Pat Fairley, the drummer was Raymond summit, can’t remember. Was with a band under the same management company, The Billy Grainger Organisation. Based in Dumbarton. HH.

  7. Something else to fling in to the mix, something I think our club has became very poor at over last 18 months

And that is providing accurate updates on player injuries.

Totally vague , negligible info on players like Bitton, Saidi Jancko etc.

Fans are left to guess, or worse still, totally forget about players, as the club offer minimal information

2-2 game at their hole, ’79 game, 3-1 win when Nicholas scored his first goals against them. Just a few memories. Not by any means a great player but definitely a better captain than Brown I think

We’re both Celts and your stories are great.

Do a bit of pre-post checking dates, please. For example, typing 2004 yesterday when you mean 2008 is juvenile. Did anyone correct you? Probably not.

Not more than a quarter of the posters on this blog, care. You’re a Celt.

  10. Melbourne Mick: Thanks to you and paddymacoz I ordered those flags I wanted and they are on their way to me. I will probably display one of them at our gig in Dublin. Email your address to me and I will send out some United Irishmen CSC .badges by way of thanks.

This song was posted here a few years ago, I had never heard it before. One of the history teachers in school plays it by way of introducing students to Irish history:

  11. POLICE Scotland sfa spfl could take action for unsavoury songs being sung at the hun stadium tomorrow……must be a back log of investigations going on…..take it they are still trying to figure out who the small crowd were at the last game 2015 hibs v huns who sang their up to their knees anthem……the likes of Regan could have informed UEFA as its on their banned list…….or the hedgehog Doncaster could have done likewise.

  12. Getting rid of Ronny would only provide a smokescreen for the real issues surrounding Celtic.

  13. Bearing in mind that : 4-2-3-1 is a given, then team for Sunday (if selection was up to me)

    ————————Bailly———————–

    Lustig. Boyata. Erik. Tierney.

    ———- Brown. Johansen———-

    —-Roberts. Allan. Christie—–

    —————Griffiths—————–

That was really tough making that team selection. Lustig doesn’t deserve a start, but we have no alternatives. Brown and Johansen don’t deserve a start, but Mulgrew is the only alternative.

Boyata wouldn’t start, but Jozo Simounovic is injured.

That said, the 11 above have sufficient ability, that they should beat Morton. Unless there is a player plan to sink Ronny

  17. BLANTYRETIM 10.03……. THINK I REMEMBER reading on here one time that big Aitken never went to T Burns funeral…..he had booked a holiday to visit his daughter in the states…..some folk said he didn’t get on with Tommy don’t know if that’s true or not.
