Commons touch and experience needed

1348

I was pleased Ronny Deila fronted up for the press conference yesterday. He didn’t say anything particularly revealing but it was reassuring that the pressure of the last week hasn’t seen him hide from searching questions.

Mention of clear the air talks at Lennoxtown was welcome. It lets us know that the fans are not the only ones who believe the ‘air’ hasn’t been right recently. It will also, hopefully, have given anyone harbouring a grievance to get it out.

One of the manager’s biggest decisions for Sunday is who to trust in midfield. He needs players who will respond to the circumstances, and who can open what will be a packed defence. Guys who have been over the ground before, who know how to dig deep in the face of adversity, are also required. For me that means a start for Kris Commons.

  4. That Ann Budge fae Hearts is what we need……she could take big Pierre stick a frock on him and show him how to speak up………yeah Ann disnae hold back……no funny hand shakes from her ?????? well maybe !!!

  5. The proposition that defeat to Morton on Sunday would be a good thing is much more than stupid, it’s repugnant.

  6. MM: Love that positivity. Once a Tim, always a Tim. I met some Aussie Tims at Celtic Park before and we exchanged badges. Happy to spread the love.

A wee anecdote….my old man passed away a couple of weeks ago, so today I had an appointment with the bank manager to sort out my dad’s financial affairs. Whilst there, I decided to open an account for myself as I have wanted to change banks for some time. Anyway, the conversation went something like this….”…and if you would like to choose a password, possibly a mix of letters and numerals such as, ‘thingy 1888’ ”

    “Why 1888?” I asked.

“Oh, it was the first number that came into my head.” he said sheepishly, as though he had been caught out.

“Can I put 67?” I said with a knowing smile. He cottoned on and we both laughed. We ended up spending the next 45 mins talking about Celtic, Ronny, our experiences in Seville and my own memory of Lisbon 67. Aye, they’re not all bad these bank managers.

We’re both Celts and your stories are great.

Do a bit of pre-post checking dates, please. For example, typing 2004 yesterday when you mean 2008 is juvenile. Did anyone correct you? Probably not.

*oops thanks, was one of my biggest sins when in the workforce was not proof reading my own stuff.

Not more than a quarter of the posters on this blog, care. You’re a Celt.

*aye I know too busy taking pot shots at the club.

  9. Clogher, Very interesting clip. Started in square in Dungarvan. I could actually see the window of the flat where I started married life.

If you are trying to trace these men best bet is Bureau of Military History, I have seen Statements from different men from various towns and villages that deal with simple events like removing flags.

You can easily get the names of Volunteers from West Waterford, and try some of their depositions..

Would defeat to sevco in the cup and losing the league to Aberdeen be preferred to losing to morton but winning the league

  11. Hi Corkcelt,

Yes I will do. There was a post beside it saying that the men were ‘ brutally beaten and dumped’ but there was nothing to substantiate that.

Good luck with that. I think Ernie Lynch has a bit of knowledge on these old clips.

He gave us a video a few days ago that played The Internationale and Land of Hope and Glory (by default, please god) on it.

Nobody noticed, not even me of course, so I’m sure he’s your man for oldstyle bbc youtube gold.

    Let the people sing.

  13. Serious question: What happens if we win 7-0 on Sunday – Griff (2), Roberts (2), Christie (2) & Allan (1)….and Sevco get stuffed 4-1 tomorrow?

Happy with that defensive slot…i will tackle like Danny McGrain/Kieran Tierney.

But if we a playing a hun mob…i will chase the striker all over the park, out the stadium, and then down London Rd….and still take the ball cleanly:)
