I was pleased Ronny Deila fronted up for the press conference yesterday. He didn’t say anything particularly revealing but it was reassuring that the pressure of the last week hasn’t seen him hide from searching questions.
Mention of clear the air talks at Lennoxtown was welcome. It lets us know that the fans are not the only ones who believe the ‘air’ hasn’t been right recently. It will also, hopefully, have given anyone harbouring a grievance to get it out.
One of the manager’s biggest decisions for Sunday is who to trust in midfield. He needs players who will respond to the circumstances, and who can open what will be a packed defence. Guys who have been over the ground before, who know how to dig deep in the face of adversity, are also required. For me that means a start for Kris Commons.

At least Izzy isn’t scared to put a tackle in
One day the zoo keeper noticed that the orangutan was reading two books; On the Origin of Species and the Bible.
Surprised, he asked the orangutan, “Why are you reading both of those books?”
“Well,” said the orangutan, “I just wanted to know if I was my brother’s keeper or my keeper’s brother.”
Commons! mulgrew!
Commons who publicly berated the assistant manager for hooking him in Europe and for the tactics the manager was employing? Commons who has a very detectable dislike for Ronny and who was only offered a new contract due to the other qualities he offers? His lack of playing time has been the epi centre of dressing room disquiet. The lack of consistency in selecting a number 10… commons with the pace of an Austin Allegro towing a caravan played out right to accommodate Johansen, McGregor etc etc.
Yesterday it was Charlie Mulgrew who walked off the park in Amsterdam. He walked. He didn’t limp.
Commons and Mulgrew no doubt carry a personal moral justification for their actions but their public displays and subsequent drop kicks from the team are a result of gross Mis management from the guy that picks the team and the folk behind him pulling the strings. Did Ronny want Kris to stay? Where they both really injured for so long?
This situation goes right back to Bobo Balde, Kenny Miller and more recently Samaras.
Rory Gallagher, who would have been 68 this week.

There’s Derek McInnes sent to the stands on Wed night for losing it with someone (think it was the ref) who he thought was taking liberties with his team. Remember when Neil used to get sent to the stand? Think Ronnie will ever get sent to the stands? Think we all know the answer to that. Point being since he binned the Ronnie Roar he’s been as flat as a pancake on the sidelines during matches. More recently just like the team. Maybe he’s suffering from stress and doesn’t know it.
I’m not anti Ronnie I’d love to see him succeed. But it looks to me like he’s coached us into a dead end and has no idea how to get us out of it. Oh how I’d love to be wrong. Morton will tell us lots more.

Has anybody asked Michael Stewart’s opinion on the “the first rangers died and this is new one ” question yet ?
Given that he usually talks a lot of sense I would be interested to know his opinion.

Maybe they don’t ask because they’re scared of what the answer might be:-)

I have a sneaky feeling KT will end up (fairly soon) being a great player for Bournemouth, then Derby, then Norwich, or any of those other EPL ‘giants’ who can pay him 5 to 10 times what we can …

Play the laddies on Sunday HH
Perfect example of how a bandwagon starts – someone mentions that KT could do with a rest – they all jump on and it ends up he’s KNACKERED and Izzy is better anyway.
I’ve nothing against Izzy and would have no problem with him coming back – but it just shows that sheep do not all reside on the banks of the Don.
On Patrick Roberts at the news conference – perhaps none of our permanent players wanted to share a platform with the outgoing manager – just a thought.
Would definitely play 4-4-2 on Sunday – that we are fearing Morton says it all really:
Gordon
Lustig
Svaitchenko
Boyata
Tierney
Brown
Commons
Armstrong
Johansen
Roberts
Griffiths
Subs: Baily; Allan, GMS, Biton, McGregor, Christie and Janko.
That’s 18 players that, in my opinion, will be the ‘core’ of our squad next season.
In the wings we have Rogic, Simunovic and back from loan, Fisher, Henderson and Nesbit.
We need to add a left wing back (maybe Hendrie), two defensive midfielders (?), and two front players (?) – this would give a squad of 28 players, with the following fourteen players leaving:
Forrest (Fee)
Stokes (Fee)
Kazim-Richards (Free)
Cole (Free)
Mulgrew (Fee)
Boerrigter (Free – at last)
Blackett (Loan Return)
Ambrose (Fee)
Izaguirre (Fee)
Cifti (Fee)
Scepovic (Fee)
O’Connell (Free)
Findlay (Free)
Waters (Free)
We could get a total of around £6 million in fees and ‘clear the decks’. There of course will be a substantial savings on wages.
This will allow a new manager some spending, maybe around £10/12 million, when he comes in – a decent amount to attract the right man, maybe?

I asked a question early yesterday, which got no response-not that it matters
Place is full of ignoramuses, reply to LENNONSPASSION et al
Anyway
The players generally speak very well of our manager,RD. Yet on match-day,they respond very poorly to our coaching staff.
Why is that?
…….
I’ll take a stab at answering that, its because they know that with Ronnie its all about how they train and what they say. During matches, as we’ve all seen, he’ll let them away with almost anything.
Boyata appeal dismissed. Surprise, surprise!

How much did you have to pay the employees you sacked?
fourteen players leaving: Forrest (Fee) Stokes (Fee) Kazim-Richards (Free) Cole (Free) Mulgrew (Fee) Boerrigter (Free – at last) Blackett (Loan Return) Ambrose (Fee) Izaguirre (Fee) Cifti (Fee) Scepovic (Fee) O’Connell (Free) Findlay (Free) Waters (Free)
I think your list is a little optimistic. Experience has shown that if Celtic want to be rid of a player, we rarely recoup a fee. Can’t see who would pay money for Efe or Ciftci.
Kazim-Richards was given a decent deal. He’s signed on for 2 and half seasons.
Mulgrew’s contract is up. He will be a bosman.
Mr Pastry
I agree.
KT is fit as a fiddle and hard as nails.
But here’s a thought…play both KT and Izzy,…and drop Mik Lustig for a good rest.
My preferred team would look something like this.
Bailly
Izzy
KT
Efe
Erik
Christie
Allan
Roberts
Brown
Griff
Kris

Not sure on the Mulgrew situ – Agents sell players – Ambrose and Izzy will command fees – both with CL experience – there has been/ will be English Championship interest – expect £1.5m for each.
Paul67,
I hope you’re right. Watching Kris against Hamilton sniggering when one of his shots went wildly over the bar, means I’m doubtful.

Think I’ve given up guessing what Ronny’s team selection will be. After Wednesday, i hope he has something up his sleeve.
I feel his Mowbray moment is getting nearer.
Im still undecided about going on Sunday, will make a last minute decision on it.
As much as i would like Ronny replaced , the atmosphere on Wednesday was poor and some of the abuse being shouted makes me think, another poor showing against Morton and what it going to be like.

in my opinion CM, ML, KC & JF should be nowhere near the team for sun
The pre match picking the starting 11 that goes on here from time to time, I’ve never understood that – whats that about? We don’t get to pick the team and any guess work line up posted on here is pretty much meaningless. To be fair I’ve never checked back after match days to see if there is some sort of con-flab about who was right and who was wrong. Fair enough if that does happen so please don’t let me put you off having a guess at what the team will be if that’s your fancy. Just don’t double it with posting pop song lyrics which is another thing that leaves me scratching my head – I mean what is that about :-)

add to that list our captain SB who is struggling badly since his return
Who knows what team the tinker man will choose on Sunday. We need a settled eleven where changes are kept to a minimum, but we’ve needed that all season and haven’t got it. Worryingly at yesterday’s press conference he said he didn’t know what his best eleven are.
Sunday’s team will require many changes from Wednesday night but should also have an eye on the two away league games ahead of international break. Bitton & Simunovic still injured, Boyata suspension coming up next week means the manager has only the 25 players to choose from.
I would like to see, but know there’s no way it will happen
Gordon
Lustig Ambrose Sviatchenko Tierney
Brown Johansen
Roberts Allan Christie

I do t care who plays on Sunday. We should be able to
Randomly select any 16 players field any 11 and comfortably gub Morton.
I’m a way it is a game I’d launch players with a question mark over their heads in to
Prove me right or wrong. Only 1 player should not be considered and that is James Forrest as his fate is already decided. Playing him is depriving another player the opportunity to prove themselves.
If Greenock Morton are that good why aren’t they giving the cheats Sevco a run for there money, why they are not good enough, and by the way, the way we are playing just now,I wouldn’t be surprised if Morton have one of those days against us,
