Celtic Quick News fully supports the decision by the Supporters’ Association Executive Committee to ask an Emergency Delegates Meeting to vote on whether to selectively boycott clubs which vote for a Newco to be admitted directly into the SPL next season.
We discussed the idea of a boycott on this basis towards the end of last season. It appears the only appropriate action if our ‘sport’ can be subjugated for financial ends.
I am sure Celtic fans will not be the only ones considering a boycott. If Newco gains access to the SPL next season there is likely to be a schism between supporters of clubs who opposed the move and those clubs who vote for Newco, despite the wishes of their own supporters.
Kilmarnock might be able to look forward to lower costs for stewarding and turnstile operators, from their own support as well as others. Still, they would be able to open more than one stand when Newco visit.
What a great five days Walter Smith had. His attempts to buy assets from Rangers administrators failed, sigh, but he managed to undermine the guys trying to sell tickets to Ibrox next season, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time. Legned.

Charlie-Charlie-Chuck-Chuck-Chuck really does take the biscuit.
On the one hand, he is telling the SPL chairmen to see sense and vote Sevco into the SPL, and warns of the dire financial consequences of failing to do so.
Then he is talking about buying out an English club and playing in the English leagues, thereby deserting Scottish Football and leaving the rest of us to face the nightmare he and his media backers imagine we would face in their absence.
What a chancer.

From the Herald:
Rangers players could take legal action to pursue £5m in wages from Green’s newco
Published on 21 June 2012
Richard Wilson
Some Rangers players are considering not returning to the club for pre-season training, because they believe it may undermine their position if they wish to object formally to their contract having been transferred to Charles Green’s newco.
If the Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment procedures have not been properly followed, then the players could take legal action against the newco for 13 weeks’ wages, a claim that could amount to £5m in total if all players decided to act.
In an interview on Rangers TV yesterday, Green said that the players’ contracts had been transferred to his newco last Thursday, when he bought the business and assets of Rangers Football Club plc. However, under TUPE regulations, staff must be given reasonable notice of the transferral of their contract, to allow them to deliberate, take advice and then decided if they wish to object or not. It is the belief of PFA Scotland, who have been seeking the advice of a QC, that this procedure wasn’t followed, and so the newco is open to a legal claim by the players.
“A failure to comply [to TUPE regulations] can result in the recognised union, as is the case regarding the players, seeking a protective award of 13 weeks’ pay for each affected union member,” said an employment law specialist. “The union would have to raise a claim for a protective award before the Glasgow Employment Tribunal to argue there had been a failure to inform and/or consult with them regarding the affected employees.”
Most of the players are angered by Green’s failure to speak to them before transferring their contracts. There has been no dialogue with them or their agents, although Green said yesterday that he and manager Ally McCoist will meet the squad when they return for pre-season training on Thursday. However not all of them may turn up. If any are considering rejecting the transfer of the contract, and so wish to leave as a free agent, then turning up for work may prejudice their case. The same would apply to accepting wages, which are also due to be paid on Thursday, although there are serious concerns that Green’s consortium has the funds to meet obligations.
“If a player has not formally objected to the transfer before they receive their first wage from newco then there is a risk they may be deemed to have acquiesced to the transfer,” the employment law specialist said. “The length of time which has elapsed between the transfer [sale of assets] and the date on which the wage is paid could be a crucial element here.
“I don’t think that turning up for training/returning to work from holiday would itself confirm an employee has acquiesced or failed to object to a transfer, but again, if the employee and union have been advised that the transfer has taken place yet a week elapses and no formal objection has been raised, this would weaken the employee’s subsequent argument.”

Morning good people of Celtic.
Just read the report regarding thems players possibly suing Agent Green and tried to imagine if I was an Orc how it would feel absorbing this info. It felt good to me because it’s horrible for thems.
Now they know how we have felt for decades being on the receiving end of their cheating, supported by the cheating MIBs, the cheating SFA, the cheating SPHell, the corrupt Police, the supine government, the masonic media and the cheating other Scottish clubs.
And it feels goods. Revenge is Mine!
Anyway, read this. Looks like Victor may be staying after all:
Kenyan international Victor Mugubi Wanyama is set to stay at Celtics for another season despite reported interest from English Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Swansea.
The mercurial defensive midfielder has been a hot property with speculation on an intended move in the off season but sources close to the player intimate that the player and his agents feel he has alot of time to develop before making the move to the EPL.
“Mugubi will be staying at Celtic as he would not like to rush in his career. He wants to build a solid place for himself at Celtic and is feeling comfortable. He is not worried about making more money as he clearly knows that will come at the appropriate time.”
“He loves Celtic and this is the team he will be playing for next season,” sources told SuperSport.com.
Mugubi was instrumental in Celtic clinching the Scottish Premier League crown under coach Neil Lennon who signed him from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot.
Mugubi is currently on holiday in Nairobi after arriving back from Togo where he played for the national team in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier where Kenya was knocked out by the Hawks.”
Have a ghood day!

I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s son passed away while in Spain.
James Nolan was not murdered. Police and coroner did not see wounds and signs of struggle. Fatal accident.
Didn’t realise the young lads body had been found.
RIP James Nolan.

So Triggers broom FC are going to go and by Bury ,well go and do it Chuck ,you were at pains to tell us you were not a man who did his business in public and would be straight down the line .
I say again .go and buy Bury and do us all a favour .It would certainly let a few peepil off the hook up here ,all those fumbling around in the dark risking their reputation (stop laughing at the back) and Scottish footballs credibility trying to invent ways to give the in denial hordes a semblance of a lost culture .
Stop doing your business in public and let the rest of us get on with what WE do ,playing football WITHIN THE LAWS OF THE GAME .

To the important stuff – I reckon that “being onto plums” is somehow related to playing old fashioned fruit machines?

Agents Green and Whyte doing it in plain sight. Hilarious. Who will give me three quid. Have THE applied for the subuteo league. Monster Munches have pulled sponsorship.

Just reading about it now. Only 21. Tragic.
Looks like HBOS and Cumming in particular are getting a bit of a doing here.

Cumming has had more negative publicity than Craig Whyte-yet he lorded it over the lending department of one of our biggest banks.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, and call him incompetent.
Radio5 saying that the SPL will admit newco then immediately relegate them to D1 – According to Roddy Forsyth its the ideal solution for all concerned… so that’s fine then! The rules seem to getting made us as they go along – Just apply the existing rules, make them apply to D3 and be done with it.
Yes I concur that 3 Plums was the lowest paying of the old 3 Fruits jackpot payouts…. Although according to Mark Hately getting 3 Plums is as good a new signing!
SCOTTISH FOOTBALL = JOKE
Mounting pressure from the SFA could see Rangers relegated to the First Division as part of radical new plans to resolve the greatest crisis Scottish football has ever faced.
The proposal, discussed by the Scottish Football League board at an emergency meeting, would see Charles Green’s newco Rangers voted back into the SPL by club chairmen on July 4 on condition they accept responsibility for the wrongdoings of the defunct Ibrox club.
Then, as part of the SPL investigation which found that ‘old’ Rangers had a case to answer over dual contracts for players and management, the club would be immediately relegated to the First Division.
While any agreement would be seen as a blatant act of gerrymandering by Scotland’s footballing bodies, it would minimise the financial hardship suffered by SPL clubs, keep Sky’s £80million broadcasting contract on the table, satisfy the bloodlust amongst supporters of rival clubs for Rangers to be punished and give the Ibrox side a fighting chance of a swift return to the top tier.
It would also circumvent the problem raised by SFL chief executive David Longmuir, who has repeatedly said a newco Rangers would have to apply for membership and start at the bottom of the Third Division.
Under pressure from FIFA to resolve the wrangling and heavily punish Rangers, the SFA have lost patience and moved to bang heads together to find the ‘least worst’ solution to the game’s growing malaise.
The governing body are also hellbent on pushing through proposals for a single league body as one of the five key principles put forward in the McLeish report.
‘We had a very productive meeting,’ said Longmuir last night. ‘We’re right in the middle of discussing all the options at the moment and (Rangers dropping into the First Division) is part of it.
‘There are other options available, but we’re just trying to do what is best for Scottish football.
‘We’re not ruling anything out and there’s a lot of work to be done before anything can be put together and agreed on.
‘I think we looked at every option that was available to benefit the game and the Rangers issue was one of them. We are preparing ourselves for every eventuality that may impact on us.’
SPL clubs will attempt to use Rangers’ predicament to force a change in the voting set-up, while the SFL are seeking a return of the play-off system, abolished 14 years ago, in order to grant their approval to the plan.
There are lingering concerns that allowing Rangers to go to the First – rather than Third – Division will send out the wrong message to other debt-ridden SPL clubs. It’s also unclear whether relegated Dunfermline, or last season’s First Division runners-up Dundee, would acquire the SPL vacancy.
To succeed, the plan requires a level of co-operation and agreement from within Ibrox and yesterday chief executive Charles Green spoke of reaching out to build bridges with rival clubs and their supporters.
Manager Ally McCoist and his players return for pre-season training next Thursday in a state of paralysis over where they will play next season and Green said: ‘We really need to focus on that and, part of my role and that of my executive team over the next few days, is to really understand, from the chairmen, from the SPL and SFA, where Rangers can go.
‘Can we now try to heal the divides which exist in football in Scotland? I would like to reiterate, the issues we are all having to face now are not as a result of the actions of Rangers supporters, players or the management of this club now.
‘And they are certainly not down to the investors and myself. ‘These issues were created by previous owners of this club and they have a lot to answer for.’
Speaking after former director Dave King apologised for the chaos wrought by the Murray Group’s EBT scheme, Green added: ‘I’m quite happy to say I’m sorry, but what am I saying I am sorry for? We all know who needs to make the apology
PARTICK THISTLE chairman David Beattie last night vowed the carnage of Rangers’ demise can
be the making of Scottish football by triggering radical league reform.
The Jags chief has endorsed proposals to merge the SPL and SFL and rush through revolutionary plans which could see a revamped Glasgow Cup pit the Old Firm together next season in a first-team competition and Rangers given the green light to play in Division One.
Members of the SFL board held an emergency meeting at Alloa yesterday to discuss the possible solutions to save Scottish football from starting the season in a state of chaos.
Record Sport understands talks between the SFL and SPL over the technical issues arising from an amalgamation of the two are at an advanced stage.
A new Scottish Professional Football League has moved a step closer after behind-the-scenes meetings attempted to create a compromise on a raft of historic issues regarding both ruling bodies.
But Beattie is adamant a revolution is long overdue and insists the Rangers crisis has only accelerated the need for it.
He said: “This could be the making of Scottish football if it’s handled right. This is the opportunity to change Scottish football and that’s something we have been banging the drum about for far too long.
“From disaster comes opportunity but we needed something as cataclysmic as this to accelerate progress. It’s sad it has come to this but we are where we are.
“Let’s hope everyone embraces the need for change but it’s all being driven because of the Rangers situation.”
The plan for one governing body would effectively end the dual control of the professional game by separate
organisations.
A new Scottish Professional Football League would be launched and Beattie is convinced it makes perfect sense.
He said: “The SFA would be controlling Scottish football and then we would have the Scottish Professional Football League.
“It’s SPL 1 and SPL 2 packaged up as the SPFL. It’s about bringing the Premier, First, Second and Third divisions under the same body and there no longer being an SFL or SPL.
“It’s the way Scottish football should be anyway. I’ve been screaming about the need for change for a while and now is the opportunity to do it.”
Rangers are set to pay for their financial
failings by being demoted at least as far as the First Division next season but Beattie is adamant the punishment must be carefully considered.
He said: “It all about the detail, it’s about dealing with sporting integrity as well as commercialisation.
“Let’s be honest, commercialisation doesn’t work in Scottish football without Rangers.
“Sky Sports, other TV companies and sponsors need to have Rangers and Celtic vying with each other. That’s a blunt fact of what generates the most income for
Scottish football.
“But the sporting integrity issue requires punishment to Rangers.
“I can see how it would work if they were demoted a division.
“All that is effectively being done is that there is a tinkering with the structure. There is only going to be one football association, which I am in total
agreement with.”
The complexities of the structural overhaul could become a financial
minefield and internal power struggle
Beattie added: “The administration of the plan will be interesting as well as the commercial implications of it. Are they going to bring all the revenue streams of the SPL and the SFL under one banner? How will that money be distributed?”
SOLUTION
One proposal on the table could see Rangers and Celtic go head to head next season in a round-robin Glasgow Cup which would be upgraded from the current youth format to permit senior players participating
It’s a plan designed to appease Sky if Rangers are demoted to a lower league and Beattie believe it’s a case of thinking outside the box as the crisis management for our game goes into overdrive.
He said: “I can see what is trying to be done here. They are trying to give the TV companies at least two Old Firm matches a season.
“If Rangers are demoted into the First Division then as it currently stands it wouldn’t happen but this solution is a way around that. It is innovative and addresses a large commercial problem.
“The dichotomy for me has always been trying to balance sporting
integrity with commercialisation as the two issues are so far apart but need to be brought together. This is a clever way of addressing both of them.
“I’d be happy with these proposals but whether the fans would be is another matter.”
Beattie is in charge of a club that could soon claim the bragging rights of being the second biggest force in Glasgow but he prefers to focus on preserving the proud institution of Rangers and nursing football back to an even footing.
He said: “I’m saddened Scottish football has arrived where it has because of the Rangers’ demise. But it has given us a chance to change the game’s set-up.”
Kayal33@08:14
I read that earlier with utter disbelief. They just don’t get it do they?
If SevCo are voted back into the SPL regardless, Scottish football is dead in the water
Michael Johnston in the paper bleating Killie have done nothing wrong. Your right, they haven’t. BUT rangers have, so bloody punish them!!
Ten Men Won The League on 21 June, 2012 at 08:25 said:
Its the total lack of honesty that gets me. If they want to restructure (something that’s been needed for years but due to the greed of the SPL chairmen hasn’t happened), then be honest about it and say they are restructuring the leagues to minimise any punishment on newco for the actions of oldco because if they don’t UEFA/FIFA will hammer them.
And why the charade of the SPL chairmen voting them into the SPL only for the SFA to then kick them down a league? If they want to gerrymander the leagues then just do it and don’t bother with SPL vote.
