CSA will not be alone in boycott call

982

Celtic Quick News fully supports the decision by the Supporters’ Association Executive Committee to ask an Emergency Delegates Meeting to vote on whether to selectively boycott clubs which vote for a Newco to be admitted directly into the SPL next season.

We discussed the idea of a boycott on this basis towards the end of last season.  It appears the only appropriate action if our ‘sport’ can be subjugated for financial ends.

I am sure Celtic fans will not be the only ones considering a boycott.  If Newco gains access to the SPL next season there is likely to be a schism between supporters of clubs who opposed the move and those clubs who vote for Newco, despite the wishes of their own supporters.

Kilmarnock might be able to look forward to lower costs for stewarding and turnstile operators, from their own support as well as others.  Still, they would be able to open more than one stand when Newco visit.

What a great five days Walter Smith had.  His attempts to buy assets from Rangers administrators failed, sigh, but he managed to undermine the guys trying to sell tickets to Ibrox next season, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.  Legned.

couldn’t agree more mate , here’s my post from earlier.

Starting to get seriously p***** off with the MSM’s continual use of the now dead teams name when talking about NEWCO .

What’s hard to understand , their clubs dead , someone bought their ground /training facilities and car park and are now TRYING to start up a NEW club with no history / accounts / players ( at the moment ) or fan base . Am I missing something .????????

Are they not allowed to use the name until the day they are formally/officially liquidated?

Of course, I still expect references to them even after they have been declared officially dead but , for the present, as far as I know, the names still exists.

I will gladly be shown to be wrong.

  9. Bury have poured cold water on suggestions they could be bought by Rangers as part of a plan for the Glasgow giants to ply their trade in England.

Responding to media reports over the last 24 hours, a statement from Bury’s board of directors read: “Whilst investment into Bury Football Club is always welcome, any offer of investment will only be viewed at taking the club forward in its only one guise possible – based in the town of Bury, and as Bury Football Club.

“Bury FC is a proud historical club and, as such, proudly represents the town, community, people and, above all, supporters of Bury.

“The directors of Bury FC place the integrity and morality of the club, and football as a whole, way above and beyond any possible financial gain and, as such, wish to reassure all Shakers fans of this fact.”

  11. Dundee United manager Peter Houston has made a heartfelt plea to fans to put the welfare of their club before concerns they have over the Rangers newco crisis.

There is genuine anger among supporters across Scotland over the possibility of the top-flight chairmen allowing the transfer of SPL share from the old to the new Ibrox club when the vote takes place at Hampden on July 4.

That has resulted in people holding back from buying season tickets, with United having shifted only around 1700 so far — less than half of the figure sold at the same stage last year.

Houston stressed he has ”huge sympathy” for any United fan who is worried and even dismayed by what has been unfolding over recent weeks and months.

Nevertheless, he has called on the Tannadice faithful to pause to consider how holding back on buying season books is damaging his own plans for the new campaign.

In an interview in today’s Courier he reveals that he has already had to pass up the chance of signing a player he wanted because of the financial uncertainty caused by the reduction in sales.

He says: ”I am selfish when it comes to Dundee United and it is my job to do what is best for this club. That is why I am asking the fans to put their team above any concerns they have over the Rangers situation.”

    Stephen Mckenna’s plan for ibrox

He is planning to set up a crane with a wrecking ball on it, put it in the centre circle, charge £100 per 15 minutes. If the police thought they were going to have a problem with the “50,000” ahem ahem, marching on bellahouston on Saturday, it would be small potatoes. Buses from Manchester, Barcelona, Aberdeen and Dundee would join the queue from Edminston drive to the gallowgate to eliminate the blight on our landscape, whilst making a profit.

A disapearing act his namesake paul would be proud of.

The natural environment has its own dynamic, which David Attenborough probably understands: the human population that lives in this environent has a different dynamic, which he certainly doesn’t understand. Setting free the bears summed it up quite admirably: humans can make choices about their own destiny.

I didn’t say that the human race has no effect on the environment, but this does not mean that there are “too many”of us: I’ve seen many statements making such a claim, none of them convincing. BTW most of the people-phobics do not understand that our impact on the planet depends on our consumption per capita as well as our numbers: population growth has been slowing for many years, but consumption per person is roaring ahead.

I read Peter Houston ‘s comments differently.

    Is he not saying

‘we hear you, we understand your feelings, point made- this will influence or vote. Now please but your season ticket’

Logically if DUFC don’t listen them they are doomed next season as their fans are obviously serious.

  27. THE Rangers Fans Fighting Fund yesterday met with Charles Green and Malcolm Murray.

During a meeting lasting three and a half hours the members of the committee sought clarity from both individuals on a number of issues.

By the conclusion of the meeting the RFFF had received satisfaction on the future security of the property assets, forward flow funding and the ring fencing of season tickets for the good of the club.

The RFFF would encourage fans to renew their season tickets at this time to demonstrate our support for our manager Ally McCoist his management team and our players.

It is time for our great support to show solidarity for the club that binds and bonds us together as Rangers fans.

  28. A post on RTC from TerryONeill

On the 5th March it was announced that the spl would investigate into the non disclosure to the spl of payments to players by rangers.

Something else was said that day.

doncaster revealed that rangers were about to be sanctioned for the non payment of £840000 to Dunfermline for tickets.

Minutes before that meeting to decide the punishment duff and phelps gave assurances that part payment would be made and the remainder would be paid by April 13th.

“We learned, just prior to the meeting starting, that the administrators had agreed with Dunfermline payment for the outstanding money so our action, relating to Rangers, went away,” said doncaster.(Daily Telegraph Apr 5th 2012)

On 29th May the cva proposal still showed Dunfermline owed £84000.

    Perhaps doncaster could explain ?

The name does still exists but it belongs to oldco, still in administration, BDO will begin liquidating the oldco next month. This process may take months as all the investigations into the club will take time. The name will stay with oldco for some time yet. It will become available after that I think.

When the peepil of Scotland get what they want by yon new fitba club being crowbarred into the same league as the top teams in Scotland I wonder how they will all feel when the reality really hits 3 or 4 years down the line?

No ebt’s,no disgraceful, unfair lending arrangements by the bank and up against a side who have far better resources, that new fitba club is going to need maximum support from its hordes,a board/owner with money to burn,a credit line of its biggest rival (stop laughing at the back),the trust from other clubs in payment arrangements on transfers, their going to need to be able to attract a manager who has the capability without having the same ‘dignified standing’ in Scotland but I’m sure the Referees Committee will still be bombproof coupled with an msm in their back pocket which they’ve always had anyway.

As long as we have ambitions in Europe thon new fitba club will struggle regardless.
