Defences, views and runs

We can take some comfort in the fact that Salzburg have lost three games on the bounce but they sit in second spot in the Austrian Bundesliga, Celtic are fourth in the Scottish Premiership and have won only one of their previous five games.  The Austrians will see just as much comfort in our form.

Success on Thursday will be determined by who manages to overcome their frailties most effectively.  As far as Celtic are concerned, that will mean trying to find the kind of defensive performance that we put in last season.

Our reason for most confidence should be the speed which we can break at, and Salzburg’s only defensive issues.  They shipped three goals to Sturm Graz and Malmo in recent outings.

Many thanks to everyone who has already taken our ‘Who we are and Our Values’ survey, it took just over 1 hour to register 1,000 submissions.  It’ll take you little more than 5 minutes to share your view on some important matters, take a look here.

I’m a wee bit late to the party but I’ve signed up for the Great Scottish Run on 5 October to assist Celtic Foundation’s work in the areas of health, equality, poverty, and learning.  If you’ve already registered with the event, or you have a pair of trainers and an outrageous disregard for the aging process, get involved.

You can register for the Great Scottish Run here and with the Foundation be emailing them, details here.

This is our club, they are your trainers, that is your outrageous disregard for the aging process.  Let’s do it.

Squire danaher, yes good point I just hope that competent politicians rise to the fore and that have the foresight the Norwegians have had,

  2. b2k,

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. As I said,as an ex-pat I would vote yes if i were eligible. Scots are a nation, quite apart from the English, and the 1707 union has , in my opinion, no democratic legitimacy. That said, questions remain about the type of a society it would become.

I suppose it comes down to whether we take a leap for change and hope it meets the best of expectations, or whether we play it safe and stick with what we know, warts and all.

  3. Squire

Really? How can they be allowed to show CL games on cooncil tele in competition to the mighty deadco?

    Williamf,

I can only surmise you were not welcomed properly if you were not initiated the first time you posted, sometimes our manners escape us, bad crack that :)

I’m surprised you don’t know the initiation process if you’ve posted before, I take it your very rarely frequent this blog if you don’t know the score on the big CQN welcome.

Anyroadup, your now part of the blog bruv all due process has been sorted, welcome and hail hail.

  5. Cameron was correct to emphasise that this election is not about him. Equally it is not about Salmond.

This is an election about ethos, identity, democracy. All concepts that dwarf individual politicians or parties. Forget Cameron- forget Salmond.

Ask yourselves whether you think the Union is fairer than Scotland can be, ask yourselves whether Scotland has more potential than the status quo.

Ask yourselves how you would feel to be still ruled from London come Friday.

    Vote YES

  6. Billy Connolly once said that he had far more in common with a welder in Liverpool or Portsmouth than any Highland landowner. Billy was right. Very few people could speak as much common sense and make you guffaw at the same time as he has over the years.

Written by Ray Singh-Carr earlier today.

Was this before or after Billy Connolly became a Highland landowner (pretendy laird) himself?

Voting AYE means – NO more union Jack / butchers apron / masons?

Nahhhhh, some masons have been our clubs brightest shining stars.

    Who are they?

    Canny tell ye – it’s a secret.

Cameron has everything to lose if it is a YES vote because then it is the political wilderness for him. He vetoed Devo Max and is now promising even more and this has only came about due to opinion polls do not forget. A life time of sucking up to Boris awaits if it is a Yes. Devo Max had been consigned to history until The times opinion poll.

The NO argument that it is going to be bad news for both sides of the border seems less believable due to how they personally have behaved in the past but especially recently.

Regardless of your independence stance It has to leave you with the distinct impression that they stand to lose more and this is why they are now behaving in this way.

  15. Having watched all the arguing between yes and no voters i have come to a balanced conclusion.

We are all arguing over our opinion on the referendum.

Opinions are like arseholes – everyone has one.

My conclusion in the referendum is –

The bigger the opinion, the bigger the arsehole.

If the vote is yes, what will you do ?

I am really interested, curious to know how you will come to terms and what your actions will be.

  21. Put the fear aside, don’t listen to anyone, especially not politicians, many who are morally corrupt self seekers.

    It is that simple.

That might be … nobody can know for sure with 100% certainty

but you have to admit their behaviour has done them no favours. Before an INDEPENDENT … no other word sorry … JURY of their peers they would be looking as guilty as sin right now due to their current behaviour
