Defences, views and runs

We can take some comfort in the fact that Salzburg have lost three games on the bounce but they sit in second spot in the Austrian Bundesliga, Celtic are fourth in the Scottish Premiership and have won only one of their previous five games.  The Austrians will see just as much comfort in our form.

Success on Thursday will be determined by who manages to overcome their frailties most effectively.  As far as Celtic are concerned, that will mean trying to find the kind of defensive performance that we put in last season.

Our reason for most confidence should be the speed which we can break at, and Salzburg’s only defensive issues.  They shipped three goals to Sturm Graz and Malmo in recent outings.

Many thanks to everyone who has already taken our ‘Who we are and Our Values’ survey, it took just over 1 hour to register 1,000 submissions.  It’ll take you little more than 5 minutes to share your view on some important matters, take a look here.

I’m a wee bit late to the party but I’ve signed up for the Great Scottish Run on 5 October to assist Celtic Foundation’s work in the areas of health, equality, poverty, and learning.  If you’ve already registered with the event, or you have a pair of trainers and an outrageous disregard for the aging process, get involved.

You can register for the Great Scottish Run here and with the Foundation be emailing them, details here.

This is our club, they are your trainers, that is your outrageous disregard for the aging process.  Let’s do it.

TBB – for once this year ‘Yes’ is definitely the right answer.

It almost makes the ole wind turbines bearable.

Kit is still entitle dto his opinion as is anyone.

especially so as we are discussing this on a Celtic football blog which he is a part of.

Not sure comments like that help anyone.

Although, those who say they live here but have previosuly said they don’t in order to drive the debate as if they have a vote. now them guys, they should stick to playing with action men in baths. :-)

  5. I see some of the pollsters have started to drop hints that they may have got it badly wrong.

I’m not one to say I told you so, so I won’t say it.

Labour will vote for it as will the Lib Dems. The vast majority of Tories will too.

I have to admit though it’s funny to watch the nats pin their hopes on some unnamed Tory MP.

You always revert to type in the end.

I voted Labour and always have with occassional votes for socialist parties like SSP when there are big lists to vote from.

Im not forgetting your pathetic slur, on the ordinary working men in the 1820 insurrection.

Whose banners said….Scotland free or a desert.

Who are you to insult these men?

Did you ever shed blood for what you believe in?

    Explain yourself.

One female Tory MP said Mr Cameron’s promise, issued just two days before the polls open, was “desperate”.

A FEMALE TORY MP – THAT NARROW IT DOWN

“There will be a bloodbath. Last night as I was listening to Cameron saying we are going to be providing all these additional benefits to Scotland, when we are struggling in so many areas of the UK.

“It’s all happening on the hoof, in cliquey conversations on telephones in Downing Street. It isn’t happening, and there are a number of us who are incensed who will make sure it isn’t going to happen. But let’s see what the results are first.”

    CLIQUE ALERT!

Aye, t’will be a bloodbath – Cameron’s blood I’m afraid…..and not an action man or robofish to be seen in the bath.

1922 Committee black spot being prepared as we speak.

Me thinks previously issued ‘vows’ will no longer be ‘legal tender’ in the Tory party!

  10. Nadine Dorries springs to mind

Media savvy and has an axe to grind with Cameron.

Ernie – Typical NO thinking to suggest that every YES voter is what you refer to as a ‘nat’

FWIW I am long enough in the tooth to know that one political phenomenon which can never be relied upon is the Conservative backbench rebellion.

Don’t think somehow the 280 Tory back benchers will have too much regard for Broon’s heartfelt pledges on the front page of the Daily Record.

  12. Ernie –

Labour will vote for it as will the Lib Dems. The vast majority of Tories will too.

    ——–

280 Tories asked to save the union with the probable personal price of being beaten by UKIP

Save the Union or Save my own Neck?

Don’t hold your breath for there being many magnanimous Tories then.

  14. Ernie I’m a democrat so I can say that it’s fine by me that I get the government that my country voted for. Incidentally the policies of the Labour party and the SNP at that last election were very similiar – left of centre with the SNP also wanting independence.

I’m amazed when I hear Labour party supporters putting their belief in retaining the UK ahead of their desire to make society fairer. At the Meadows festival in Edinburgh in June(?) the Labour party stall was devoted solely to getting us to vote No. Nothing about welfare cuts, bedroom tax just ‘save the union’. I was in that party forover 20 years and during that time being ‘British’ didn’t seem all that important. Being a socialist was what mattered. If Yes wins I look forward to a regenerated Labour party with socialist values. I’ll be queuing up to join it.

  15. Friesdorfor – yes I agree it effects all of our families.Thats why this is so important.

But we have guys on this site saying uch its worth a punt.

Thats what infuriates me – because I believe a yes vote will severely limit my childrens lives and futures while we navel gaze.

    Proudbhoy – you said

I think the fact that engurrland are trying to keep scotland in the union should be enough for any scotsman to vote yes.. They need scotland more than scotland needs them i believe.

What a logic that is – of simple mistrust. I was speaking to one of my English friends last night. We are both really upset at the prospect of our countries being broken up. Emotion isnt just for separatists.

Then again isnt it easy for you to cheer on from the sides while my families future is at stake?

  16. I fear for the aftermath of the referendum. There are going to be large swathes of unhappy people.

  17. Rangers Shares..remind me of the waltzers from the fairgrounds of my youth ‘ the faster you scream- the louder the go…!’

    In this case it’s a downward go…

    19p and falling ….

This could be the final beginning of the end….?

  18. Currently we have a wee split in Scottish Labour

    We have Labour for Independence

    and we have

Labour for keep on shafting us and we will smile while you are doing it but don’t ask us to make a decision because we are not genetically programmed to we jsut follow our leaders who have a whip, it’s kinda kinky actually – it’s along name for a wee branch off but it fits and works.

  19. today we have a energy co threatening their

workers and telling them to vote no.

so we now have energy companies who

have been fined billions of pounds for

lies, deception and theft from their customers.

banks and ins companies who have been fined

billions of pounds for lies, deception and theft.

gordon brown, john reid ,blair who took us into

an illegal war that killed thousands of innocent

    civilians and hundreds of soldiers

all telling us to vote no.

brown also sold off the gold reserves and ripped

millions of pounds from our pensions

the tories and big business in secret meetings

    to mislead the scottish voters

who in their right mind would believe anything

    that lot said.

its time we took our future into our own hands

and not tell our young people they are not bright

enough to run their own country.

my four grandchildren are all hoping they will

be living in a free and just future scotland.

otherwise immigration will be their only hope

please vote yes for our young

Is it just your family’s future thats at stake?

Its simple….people want to control their own destinies.

Why dont you get that simple fact?

I saw ‘Aftermath of the Referendum’ many years ago , in the ooooooooooolllle Burns Howff.

They were supported by Large Swathes of Unhappy People.

What a complete waste of time and money that was.
