Defences, views and runs

We can take some comfort in the fact that Salzburg have lost three games on the bounce but they sit in second spot in the Austrian Bundesliga, Celtic are fourth in the Scottish Premiership and have won only one of their previous five games.  The Austrians will see just as much comfort in our form.

Success on Thursday will be determined by who manages to overcome their frailties most effectively.  As far as Celtic are concerned, that will mean trying to find the kind of defensive performance that we put in last season.

Our reason for most confidence should be the speed which we can break at, and Salzburg’s only defensive issues.  They shipped three goals to Sturm Graz and Malmo in recent outings.

Many thanks to everyone who has already taken our ‘Who we are and Our Values’ survey, it took just over 1 hour to register 1,000 submissions.  It’ll take you little more than 5 minutes to share your view on some important matters, take a look here.

I’m a wee bit late to the party but I’ve signed up for the Great Scottish Run on 5 October to assist Celtic Foundation’s work in the areas of health, equality, poverty, and learning.  If you’ve already registered with the event, or you have a pair of trainers and an outrageous disregard for the aging process, get involved.

You can register for the Great Scottish Run here and with the Foundation be emailing them, details here.

This is our club, they are your trainers, that is your outrageous disregard for the aging process.  Let’s do it.

  1. As I said earlier Green Man go and look in the mirror – you are the guy that thinks our futures are worth a punt!

Interesting that you use the angle of trust

See if the NOs had came out and said

    Scotland is a rich country

You have assets we as a UK desperately need to keep going such as oil, service personnel, etc etc

We have lied over decades and told you that you were too wee and too stupid

We are up the financial brown creek if you leave us

I think enough of the Scottish people would have taken a rain check and probably have said, “you know what, lets stay together” to have made this referendum a non event

The Unionists are reaping what they’ve sown. People don’t trust them.

You have passionately argued your case on here and have the freedom to do so. With all due respect I can’t agree with you so please take the above in the – i think – constructive and conciliatory spirit it’s offered

  3. Marti,

Last time I looked it was only coral offering it.

Vote No! You know it makes sense. It’s the natural order of fings for you Jockoes to be ruled by us Lahndeners and Tory toffs. Gawd bless Boris and moi best mate Noigel.

So do the roight fing on Fursday and vote NO or I’ll come round all your gaffs and ask ya the question……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

“If Yes wins I look forward to a regenerated Labour party with socialist values. I’ll be queuing up to join it.”

That all sounds like a noble ideal. But I ought to point out that the current members of the Labour Party in Scotland are almost universally campaigning for the NO vote. I have asked before, and will doubtless ask again, where are these new socialists now? In the very hour they are needed most? Conspicuous by their absence if you ask me…..which of course nobody did!! :-)

    You are wrong bud..

I want the best for you and your family.

And its not about abandoning our relations and friends in England…I have plenty.

Its about democracy and social justice, not

Upholding the decrepit, corrupt monstrosity of the the Westminster

    parliament.

The political will of Scotland has changed.

You know it….learn to live with peoples hopes and dreams.

    We still love you:)

  7. Green man – your punt is on the trusting and never corrupt scottish parliament is it?

    HAHAHAAH

    right you are.

    Rabid, unabashed nationalism.

You think we will love one another after all of this? Really?

  8. Allegedly someone has biffed Ed Millibland on the heid………..missing his brain by three feet!

  9. Neganon2

    The last thing I am…is a nationalist.

    Im an anarchist voting yes.

Because I see the corruption of Unionism at work.

So called socialists hand in hand with tory lords and orangemen.

    You can keep that.

Scotland will thrive when independent, thats my view.

    HH

  10. Neganon2

I will accept the will of the people of Scotland.

    Will you do the same?

  11. A wee bit of sharing for Ernie and Neganon who constantly talk about how sectarian Scotland would be after the Yes vote both in terms of anti catholic feeling and of course the famous anti english nonsense neg in particular spouts. How do you square that with a pro union supporter pointing out to my friends and I as we left Queen St station on Saturday afternoon that, and I quote, “Scotland says no ya fenian bastards”.I would suggest that the sectarian problem is in the no camp.

Neganon,I see you are getting yourself all upset again today, don’t you support the democratic process or are you still on the page that everything you spout is fact? That’s another thing you have in common with follow follow.

  12. So if we boil down all the arguments we are left with a voting choice between social division, or national division.

I am not a fan of either. As such, I am moving too…erm…dunno.

    Any ideas?

  13. I am pretty sure there will be a No vote on Thursday. How will the Labour Party fare in Scotland after that? Incidentally, I am asking this question in the belief that ernie is very wrong in his assumption that Yes voters are unanimously SNP voters. I believe a decent percentage of one time Labour supporters now favour Independence and are not too happy with the Labour Party`s promotion of the No vote.

The sectarian problem is in Scotland.

The OO claim 50,000 members in Scotland.

They’d still be here in a separate Scotland, and would have a larger say than they do now.

And I wouldn’t want to be relying on Christine Graham and her ilk to put them in their place.

  16. Jason Denayer first scorer on Thursday. There you go lads, I’ve just improved the chances of any other Celtic player scoring first.

    Eh, your welcome…

  17. SFTB as ever! Still looking for sensible debate…….not forthcoming.

Green man is that the same scottish people you were describing as cretins earlier? And you expect it to be all sweetness and light do you? And you describe yourself as an anarchist (takes me back to my youth) and then lecture on democratic process.

It gets more bizarre by the moment. But it doesn explain your punt. You dont care about the consequences!

Timmy7 Noted. Very scientific. Do you think that balances out the OB act and the sectarianism I have lived with in Scotland for what, 47 years? You are speaking about facts? Sounds more like FACTS.

But of course Timmy I need to be a hun or just like the hun because thats the childish demonisation you need to have to promote your unthinking nationalist partiotic fervour.

Diminish the infadels you say. Bless the mother country.

I’m in that camp,in the event of a no vote I pretty much have no one to vote for in this country any longer unless I continue to vote SNP as I recently have.My reason for voting SNP would no longer exist and I will never vote for the current version of labour ever again.

IMO they have betrayed the people of Scotland for political gain in England.

I for one will take a long time to forgive them for that.

I need to give it more thought when things calm down but right now I may end up not voting at all.

    Just vote Yes.

Think there may be room for 1 more at Ernies but you may need to change your name by deed poll ;)

  20. Neg “I feel like we have regressed 30 years.”

I think you’ll find that you are in fact living in a Scotland from 30 years ago most of the rest of us have moved on and recognised the improvements in Scotland over the last 30 years.

    ===================

How do you work that out if most of the UK’s resources are Scottish but to be ‘shared equitably’ as per the vow from the 3 stooges?

Your username suggests you are a bit of a scumbag looking to rile people, was that the intention?

  23. Guys, guys, guys. Can we just stop this and sing a little version of Sam Cooke’s Wonderful World:

Don’t know much about the GDP,

    Don’t know much renewable energy,

Don’t know much about block grants,

Don’t know whether oil revenue is significant,

But I do know that I love you,

And I do know that if you love me too (stop calling me a Nazi),

What a wonderful world this could be.
