Devil in the * detail over Whyte shares

469

Breaking news!  Craig Whyte agrees to sell his shares for £1*!!!

So the story goes.  The * is important.   *He’s agreed to sell his shares for £1 if a CVA is agreed.  Coincidentally, this decision comes a day after Ticketus inform journalists (and perhaps Mr Whyte’s briefs) that they will sue the Rangers owner for £27m.

Of course, if a CVA is agreed, Ticketus still own the tickets for the next three seasons they bought from Rangers in the early months of Whyte’s tenure.  They therefore cannot pursue Craig Whyte.  Get a CVA – get Ticketus’ lawyers off your case.

Channel 4’s very well informed, Alex ‘Tomo’ Thompson, who appears to have spoken to Mr Whyte tonight, reminds us all of the crux of the matter:

“And then that leaves the floating charge Mr Whyte has over Rangers – effectively another large separate financial stake in the club and I can reveal this is still to be negotiated away somehow. This is where the tough-talk has still very much to be done.”

Despite the headlines, it appears that Craig Whyte remains….. The Only Show in Town.  He’ll assist a CVA but the “tough-talk” over the stadium, his real asset, has still to take place.

Let’s not mention the chances of getting a CVA past HMRC.

  1. Paul67 – Meant to post earlier, but well done tonight. I thought that you came across measured and not reactionary. I thought the sound was a bit funny, sort of echoey. It was as if you were on the pan nonchalantly referring to notes that you had prepared. Unperturbed. I thought that they ended your participation a bit prematurely after realising that you were not the internet bampot they were expecting!

That was my 1st time listening to shortbread and I thought that the studio came across badly. Like a pack of wild dogs trying to establish the pecking (pecker ;-) order. Made Slug & co seem positively competent!

You still had time to put out another measured post which reiterates the pertinent points that cannot be dismissed.

    HH tae ye!

The best bit about your performance tonight is your apparent inability to get riled or fall in to any of their blatantly set ‘traps’

His men (all Irish) were a specialist squad and comprised; 2 men on the inside of the hull (who positioned the plate that spread the red-hot rivet) – 2 men (with tongs) caught the rivet and lined it up with the hole and the apprentice that kept the brazier going. He was the foreman that swung the sledgehammer and drove the rivets home daily with precision…………..

To clarify a few things said earlier – the SPL rules on transferring a share have not changed yet. The meeting took no decision and it will be disacussed again on 30th.

If the clubs agree to amend the Articles then the clubs will make the decision rather than the Board. I don’t see why this should be seen as a matter needing only 8 clubs to support it. I have e-mailed Mr Doncaster seeking clarification but have had no reple.

I recorded the programme on BBC ALBA tonight, and was totally gobsmacked as Paul Lennon’s wonderful story behind the formation of THE THAI TIMS unfolded………

I was nearly in tears, and utterly gobsmacked, at this wonderful initiative, supported by the Celtic Charity Foundation…..and will be finding out how I can contribute…….

Slightly surprised (although I shouldn’t really be) that the Scottish Media have not helped to promote this initiative by giving Paul some publicity (they have, in fact, totally ignored it) ……..in any other Country….!!!!!!?

Anyway, it only serves to reinforce every Celtic Fan’s commitment to our wonderful Club……

GOD BLESS PAUL BRENNAN, AND WELL DONE BBC ALBA !!!!!!!!!!

  16. There is no more fascinating sight than watching a orange/yellow-hot rivet being thrown, caught, inserted and then flattened, as if it were plasticene by a riveting gun. The whole process takes less than a minute and leaves a shiny blue/black steel fastner that is a picture to behold.

The downside of this is that if you have had the privilege then you are as old as the hills.

Measured tones on Shortbread , keep flying the flag in the correct mode.

The manoeuvring to allocate the blame for Dignity’s liquidation continues apace, with Craigy now selling up (haha). I suspect that early next week there will be a last minute attempt to blame HMRC (failure to agree CVA) and SFA (no guarantees over football license) , as reasons for the failure of the new bidders. This will play out for a week or so, with Duff £ Phelps , desperate for the FTT and HMRC winding them up…… I suspect they will have a long wait…….

…… as you stated this evening, the SPL 30 May 2012 meeting must be given some guidance as to the alledged double contracts and whatever dodgy deals Craigy was about to, in order to come to a measured conclusion on punishments on Dignity. I suspect that Doncaster is watching his own back and his statements are designed to keep his body parts attached to his body, however he is taking it too far now, words in private are required and pressure brought to bear on expediting the enquiries.

My suspicion is that the Harper Macleod enquiry is being hampered by a lack of co-operation from Duff £ Phelps lawyers …….. We need a preliminary statement on this matter…. My view is that if the findings are nuclear then the SFA will be required to intervene either to suspend , withdraw Dignity’s football license, as well as suspensions on ex-Dignity office bearers.

I appreciate everyone is obfuscating to avoid blame but the time is now right for the football authorities to provide a ledad.

    Praecepta,

One of your granda’s workmates in John Brown’s during WW1 would have been the immortal Patsy Gallagher. Many footballers were deployed in industry at the time.

Willie Maley’s autobiography relates that Patsy’s time-keeping was not wonderful, …to the extent that he was given a football suspension by the SFA for his heavy-headedness.

    I kid you not.

Surely Peerless Patsy must be unique in achieving such a sanction.

    Plus ca change.

How many men worked at H&W shipyard?

No idea – but seem to recall a figure of 2500+ at the height (might have been their group staff).

Funnily enough – of all the Tims I know with yard connections all worked on the northside of the river; Brown’s, Yarrows and even Dennys.

My mate’s father was a manager at Dennys – he was an Episcopalian and had no problems employing RC’s. :-)
